I think he was just going for the main story script, alot got left out about the types of questions we ask and when those questions are appropriate and inappropriate, best showed by the arrow scene, but also extends to the train scene, when ballister is asking logically realistic questions but emotionally nimona doesnt want to answer fully yet. But the locking lips couldn't be further from the truth, Ballister in canon, is in a solid relationship with goldenloin at the start and the end , and nimona and ballister's dynamic is pretty well written to show that their relationship is very much platonic.
