The long night refers to the winter that lasted a whole generation in the thousands of years before. Also fun fact that’s why the words of the starks is “Winter is coming” to pass on the words that the north remembers the tragedy of the first white walker invasion to the south. Another fun fact why in season 1, old nan call Bran “sweet summer child” because he is ignorant to the horrors of the stories she told him about the long night and white walkers, because he is born in the era of long summers and doesnt believe these”stories”.
I loved watching your reaction to the unexpected battle at Hardhome 😄 I believe that this encounter was a necessary lesson for the survivors. Because of Jon and what he learned from this experience, he is able to pass on some hope to the “living” about the importance of both dragonglass and Valyrian steel. Mance’s strategy was to run with all the wildings to south of the wall. I don’t believe any wildings had hope to survive a fight. Now with Jon, all of the living have a slim chance to survive. No spoilers here…this is exactly what my thinking was after watching this episode 😊
This is top tier Game of Thrones, man. This is top 5 best scenes is Hardhome. I rewatch it ALL. THE. TIME. Yes, Valeryon steel! Did you see the surprised look on that Generals face when the sword held up. Primo stuff, man.

I like a good battle scene too! So, you now realize that when the dogs were reacting, the avalanches were the army of the dead jumping from the mountains above the beach...
The creators wanted to make this a traditional battle but realized it was the wrong approach. Making Hardhome a massacre was a more effective way of demonstrating how terrifying and deadly the White Walkers are.
Yeah. The wight children (zombies) got to Val. So sad because she was so awesome. Bad ass in the Peace talks, bad ass fighter, tender-hearted mother. Live her actress.

Danys notion of "breaking the wheel" always annoyed me. She claims to want to get rid of the old status quo of politics while conveniently forgetting that the Iron Throne is very much a spoke of that wheel. The Throne she wants to sit. The status quo she believes to be the rightful heir of. Like, girl, make up your mind. I love Dany, but she reminds me of that Joker quote: "Im just a dog chasing cars. I wouldnt know what to do if i actually caught one!"
The “generals” are the actual white walkers, the others are just straight zombies, or wights. Someone prolly already told u but have no energy to scroll lol
The wight children are truly nightmarish. I wish TWD showed more children walkers. I have brought this up to TWD super fans, and some tell me it would be too traumatizing for the child. I guarantee if producers had walked into any elementary school classroom in the US and said we are looking for child walkers in upcoming episodes.. Who here wants to be shot in the head by Daryl? I guarantee 90% of the kids would be raising their hands
Yeah, so, only the "generals" are called the White Walkers and require dragonglass or Valyrian steel. The zombie type things are called the Wights and you can burn them. It's all already been shown, I just sum it up for you.
Oh yer oysters are delicious I love them I can have Em raw like he had but I prefer them in a style called kill Patric. If you never had oysters ide go with them first before trying Em raw
They wouldn't really have considered Cersei having sex with her cousin incestuous, but it would be either fornication (if after Robert's death) or adultery (if before). They have more charges against her in the books than in the show, though.
Bro, there's no good dialog from S5-8, you can tell George RR wasn't involved in the writing room, take the conversation between Tyrion and Dany for example, not only does he reveal himself to be a kinslayer, he also put killing Tywin in the same breath with 'killing' his mother, WHAT? and he also killed the king (she shouldn't know otherwise at this point), not once does she try to confirm anything about what he's saying or who he really is or what him and Jorah's true intentions are.. Are they here as double agents? and Tyrion acts like he has leverage when he has not demonstrated this though, when she asks him why should I listen to YOU, he give a useless vague answer, 'You can't do this on your own', but this is not what she was asked and two, she's doing exactly what he says she can't do, 'killing and politics are not always the same' and yet there she sits in a foreign country with no allies who know the land she currently rules (in the books she is counseled by different factions from Meereen, it's a huge plot)... all the conversations are like this now, they make no sense once you start thinking, and I've had time to think.
There's PLENTY of great dialogue between 5-8. We've already seen several scenes just this season...Jon and Mance, Jon and Tormund, Tyrion and Dany (with Jorah in background) Jon and the Wildlings in this episode right here...I'm sure there's tons more, but I've made my point.
Zombie scene in here is A quality, completely puts the C quality Walking dead to shame. Funny thing is, the season of walking dead that came out after this had an episode that was inspired by the hardhome attack. Game of thrones is so good that the inferior walking dead immediately used GoT as inspiration the quickest chance they got. The walking dead makers at the time even admitted to it and that they were big fans of GoT. I don’t think GoT makers are fans of walking dead. HBO actually passed on walking dead before it went to cheap amc. Too bad. It could’ve been good on HBO and frank daranbot wouldn’t have been pushed out. And it would’ve had a good budget, much higher than AMC gives, been hard R ratet instead of basically pg13, and it would’ve had better acTors because HBO is considered a place where movie stars like Mathew mcconaughey, Kate winslet, and woody harrelson go to be in tv shows because HBO shows feel like long movies while AMC is considered a much lower tier broadcast network show
TWD has incredible actors in it. GOT is my favorite show of all time, but TWD is my 2nd favorite, so I don't consider it all that inferior. It has some extremely phenomenal episodes and moments...
You know, I don’t really like season 5, but this is one of the best episodes of the entire show (and in my opinion the last truly fantastic one, but I think lots of people will disagree with that)
i know many consider this one of the best episodes, but it's not in my top 10, maybe not 20 too. There are better battles, and more satisfying dialogues and unexpected things (mostly deaths but not only). it's good overall but i can't find a peak like we have in other episodes like 3x3 (Jaime losing his hand) or 2 in season 6. i'm not saying the episodes and certainly not what is going to happen even if those are "minor"" and very short moments
Anybody else not really get the love for this episode? It's not a bad episode, but with 73 episodes I'm not sure this would even crack the top 20...🤷♂
