    The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
    Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
    Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
    Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
    Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
    The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
    Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com

    I think Kubica proves that ŧhere are still those old fashioned gentlemen in motorsport who are not driving just for money, but also for passion and love for the sport. That almost fatal crash in F1 couldn't keep him away from racing, instead he left his comfort zone and learned whole new thing, rally. Respect from Finland

    Incredible talent. A real inspiration. Robert always had to struggle with the slower cars, even in F1, and yet he always pushed them beyond their capabilities. In WRC he just needs to learn a bit more tricks how to stay on the roads, and there shouldn't be anything amusing or disappointing about it when he crashes, because he's new in this sport. He has to crash in order to find out his limits. Once he masters it, he'll be unstoppable. One of the best racing talents in the world, respected by many top racing drivers. No wonder he's a close friend with Alonso. The world, and especially Poland needs to learn how to appreciate their hero, instead of bitching about him all the time.

    Next time I would love to see The futtage from camera mounted more at The back of The car. Like from behind their heads. The feel of The speed would be much better. Kubica's driving style is very similar to The Colin'z. That type of driving we Love The most!!!!! Go Kubica Go!!!!

    • @barsorrro
      @barsorrro 9 лет назад +6

      Please, stop the nonsense. This camera positioning is _perfect_: we get to see where the car is on the road and what line is being taken by the driver; even if we're "sitting" a little bit lower down than the driver, we can have a good notion of where the corners of the car and its front wheels are.
      Please, don't give the onboard producers an incentive to mount the camera in the back of the car, from where you see the helmets, the dash, and a tiny bit of road through the small opening of the windshield -- this view of the road being something like 50% of the actual image.
      And what's up with the impression of speed?! Put on a bumper-cam view and you will get a feel of speed unmatched by any other. Which doesn't change the fact that it's absolutely rubbish. With the camera placement like in this video you actually get to see what the driver (or, more precisely: the co-driver) is seeing -- isn't that ideal?!

    • @kamiladamczyk9471
      @kamiladamczyk9471 9 лет назад

      I wish to see only once from Robert's car, to see how is his 'dead' hand doing

    • @barsorrro
      @barsorrro 9 лет назад

      Kamil Adamczyk Mmmm... Isn't that sort of a slightly morbid kind of interest? :D Kidding :). But, seriously... Firstly, I don't see a reason why expose his physical deficiency. Secondly, I think he's probably doing so-so with his right hand, but, let's be honest, it was always possible to control the steering basically one-handed: in the era of H-pattern gearshifts, rally drivers would grip the steering wheel with two hands only on the really fast passages -- normally, you would have to use the right hand constantly to shift gears. So, while any deficiency _is_ a deficiency, making a "disability driver" out of Kubica is a little bit of a stretch, in my opinion. His hand is working, he can tug on the wheel with it (so as to take some strain off the left hand) -- I guess he simply doesn't have much precision in it, and not much strength.

    • @kamiladamczyk9471
      @kamiladamczyk9471 9 лет назад

      I completely agree with you, he's not disabled but its hard to imagine loosing main hand and still driving like that. I think it's Robert decision to show only that camera. I'm curious how is he's rehabilitation doing and possible F1 return. Tbh enjoying a lot him in wrc

    • @barsorrro
      @barsorrro 9 лет назад +1

      Kamil Adamczyk Well, again, I'm not sure if the right hand is the "main" hand for a driver. I don't know if the Formula Renault cars had paddle shift -- in case they did, I guess Kubica probably learned to use both of his hands rather symmetrically. On the other hand, for a typical rally driver, I think that it's the left hand that is usually the one with the more precise steering control -- I don't think that the natural "righthandedness" of most people has much importance there: the movements of the hand on the steering wheel don't have much to do with holding a pen or manipulating a random precision tool; if you drive a left-hand steering car from an early age, then with every drive your left hand will be learning the correct motions, since your right hand always has other things to do: change gears, operate the radio, operate the AC, and do other stuff.
      As for the camera -- I believe that there may not be another forward-looking camera in the car. I suppose the cameras get their mounting points already during the WRC cars' assembly -- and recently there's been almost exclusively onboards with the same onboard-cam angle as in this footage. Perhaps the TV company decided that it was the best angle :). Or maybe it was the teams themselves -- after all, the crews use their own onboard recordings for analysis, and this view, in my opinion, is superior to any other. (Although I personally also like the roof-cam overlooking the bonnet.)
      If anything,.. well, yes -- we don't get to see the shots from a camera directed at the crew, so either there is no such camera in Robert's car, or somebody has decided there's no place for that sort of footage in the material offered to the public.
      What with Robert's return to F1... I'll be frank: I think it's pretty impossible, and a rather irrational thing to hope for. To put it bluntly: time is not standing still, and Robert is not the only talented driver around. But perhaps my lack of belief in his return to F1 stems from the fact that I was always incomparably more interested in rallying than in F1, so I really love having him in my favourite form of motorsport :).

    Great time, given that Kubica was 2nd on the road, after Chardonnet. Hope to see this pace mixed with some consistency, and it will be a matter of time for his first victory in the WRC.
