@@rocconatale9503 to the contrary. I just flavor my character to be a martial artist and I played a spore druid with polearm master and mobile and a quarterstaff. I could literally do elemental weapon, call lightning, flaming sphere, summon beast (appa). Then again I've been playing for many years. But once people become more mature with ttrpgs you stop looking at the flavor text and just read the abilities. You can quite literally completely re flavour everything in a class to fit your character concept. I also played a bladesingrr wizard who came from a Monastery's great library. He was a martial artist wizard doing all kinds of crazy fun stuff. No monk can do anything even near a Steel Wind Strike while greater invisible 🫥 and eleven accuracy for crit fishing 6d10 damage hits. And yes some of them would hit 12d10 cus a crit. Omg so much fun. And my first character of 5e was a Monk of the Four Elements, I've played many monks and tried them on multiple occasions. Once you understand the game system you just have to understand that monk under performs in every. Single. Aspect. I love monks conceptually but the class doesn't work. Okay hear me out:
    Aasimar Feywanderer Ranger.
Instead of an angel, you’re the spawn of the Feywilds. You fight with two clubs. Using the warcaster feat at level 1 (assuming you start with a feat) we shillelagh both of them through the Druidic warrior fighting style (probably taking guidance as the other cantrip because guidance is good). Take a one level dip in fighter to get dual wielding fighting style. Thus, we are now SAD, not MAD, plus we get the ability to face due to our WIS-modifier being added to any facing rolls.
Additionally, we are great at perception and insight, which are arguably some of the better skills.
If your DM is willing to work with you, you can probably get away with using a special kind of bow that allows the use of shillelagh with it through our backstory, or just outright uses the wisdom modifier, instead of two clubs and use the archery fighting style from level 1 fighter, which would further allow us to use sharpshooter.
Either way, your damage is 3* 1d8+WIS+1d4 (33 DPR on average with 18 WIS, adjust for Hitchance) at level 5 this way due to extra attack and offhand attacks in melee, or one instance less in range due to a missing bonus action attack with the bow until we get our fifth level spellslots to use swift quiver for two additional attacks on our bonus action. (As a sidenote: hunters mark works on melee attacks as well, so we can still use our concentration until we get conjure animals/conjure fey; healing spirit on a level 2 spell slot can save the party’s butts in a pinch)
You can work out how your character should look, and there’s more than enough flavor to go around with such a build.
And because we want to troll the DM even further, we take the observant feat, increasing our WIS by 1 at level 4, and our passive perception by a total of 6 for that level alone, to a total of 19; traps, secret doors, ambushes and the like should now very easily be spotted by us.
We DO want 14 in Dex though to make good use of medium armor. CON should also be reasonably high, although thanks to warcaster we’re not in much danger of dropping concentration.
Push 20 WIS at level 8, resilient CON at level 12 if you have odd CON, tough otherwise, push CON at level 16 and 19.
Dump Str and Int, CHA should be at least 10, preferably higher if you want to face, but not necessary.
If you already know you’re getting your hands on a serpent scale mail, push Dex instead of CON. AC > HP
Use the protector aasimar to make full use of your race; radiant soul revelation for MMoM; this increases your DPR during hard encounters by your Proficiency Bonus, BUT you can attack multiple targets in a single turn to double or even triple dip for that damage, although this may be suboptimal, depending on the situation.
Either way: you are now playing the rarest class/race combination with some killer RP potential, especially if you have a Druid with you.

At any given moment, you have a metric ton of tools at your disposal, so picking which tools you should use for any given situation would be challenging to learn. Not to mention you basically have to have the monster manual handy to use wild shape to its fullest potential.

As a current aasimar stars druid, it's an incredibly fun build to make. Combine angelic form with starry form and at level 2 just obliterate everything from existence with your holy lasers

I've played an aasimar and it was really fun, especially with the lore me and my dm wrote together after I shared that, while she had wings, she couldn’t fly because of one of her wings being cursed to never heal from a wound. She was a Palidan but she was one of my favorite characters I've ever played

The emergent story here is great; as far as the world is concerned, the Witches of Genis are the worst evil followed only by a series of ravaging Orc warlords. Meanwhile, the mysterious Warlock has been hailed as All-Prophet for every major religion and is doing sundry quests like creating a haunted city or stirring up orc hordes outside of the public eye; Bob's rivals think THEY are the villains due to his mastercraft subterfuge, and the Supplicant is an unknown entity. No one knows what's going on but She Who Will Feast and her enlightened pawn. I imagine even the Warlock and other agents besides the Supplicant & Bob don't know the true goals....and Bob is serving mostly out of fear and despair, knowing he can't back out now or he'll lose everything he's built in the halls of power. He must obey the Serpent's Supplicant.

I made a Fire Genasi Circle of Wildfire druid. By far my favorite druid I've ever seen, the reaction from our DM when I told him my Wildfire Spirit could teleport my whole party (there were 3 of us at the time) through a portcullis to the other side without doing a puzzle room was priceless. Plus the spells you get are amazing added firepower (ha) to the build. I urge anyone who likes blasting things to try that Circle, a sincerely fun and underutilized option imo.

What's crazy is I made an Aasmiar Druid on DnD beyound in 2019-2021 for a campaign that went to lvl 16, and I love him as one of my most favorite characters. Even got art work done of a scene from the campaign which was a huge turning point in the campaign and brought tears to the players at the table.

I loved playing a druid. The Goodberry became a joke for us. I spent all excess spells on them before going to sleep at the end of the day. We never needed rations. My greeting when meeting a new person was to pull a Goodberry out of my pocket an offer it to them. I almost always had around 20.

I wish their data included whether someone was staying in a single class or taking a 1 or 2 level dip. I'd wager that if you remove multiclassing from the equation, you'd see something like a wizard or warlock being the most popular.

The absolute urge to make a fey wanderer ranger radiant soul aasimar with fiend favored enemy raised in a wondrous forest amongst a thriving elven society as a sort of holy figure, being seen as an incarnation of an angel as a part of some prophecy, that inevitably takes up an oath of the ancients in the name of the forests elven queen, to protect the beauty and purity of his home from wretched and scheming invaders and to extent, the world. Not only would it be aasimar Ranger, I’d be ranged smiting too :D

Druid might be the least played because it's the most complicated. They're full casters who can change their spells every day, they have to keep the stats for a half-dozen Wild Shape forms on hand, and their Subclasses radically change what role they fill. You could have a party of four Druids with different Subclasses and each could easily fill the 4e roles of Controller, Defender, Leader, and Striker while playing very differently from each other.

It should be warforged, all the time. Its an overpowered race.
Druid is overpowered, even after 3 nerfs to its spells. Wildshape is an underated overpowered ability. however it is reliant on the player knowing about animals, which a druid kinda should.
    Stealth? Tiny spider
Poison generation? Venomous cobra or scorpian
Tied up? Transform and get out of those shackles.
Stuck in a cage? Become a mouse and slip through the bars.
Higher levels let you fly for almost free meaning that the only things you have to fear are other flying creatures and the most dangerous one is the dragon, but you can scout from the air.
Combine warforged with a druid and you now have the most broken multi- tool in existence.
Warforged live forever, with no age cap, don't have any need for food, drink or even air. they can sell their magical berries for money and study books in a library for ever, picking up skills all the time.

I played a druid through Rime of the Frostmaiden. The unfortunate problems with Druids are that nearly every worthwhile spell requires concentration, wild shape is either very strong (Circle of the Moon) or utility only (every single other subclass), and tracking summoned creatures is a lot of work.

I'm amazed my favorite D&D race is the least commonly chosen, and it's even weirder to me how I haven't yet made an Aasimar character despite it being my favorite race.
DMs usually say "no" to Aasimar anyway, so that answers part of the question.
