Actually happened to my neighbor's parked car once. Some Drunk ran over her parked car, took out two trees, and slammed into an F150 parked in a driveway.
I knew a woman who had been a heavy drinker most her life, car accidents and such. Finally sobers up, and during a flood a boat ran into her car in her own driveway. Had to report that a boat had run over her car. I'm sure they thought she was drinking again.
Uh, yeah. "I thought the gas was the brake and accelerated into the berm and it launched my car and it almost cleared their car but didn't." Takes about 5 seconds and the insurance adjuster will go, "Huh. Haven't seen that in a while." without even looking up from his phone.

I can tell you I've gotten into pretty bad wrecks and was pretty okay and that's what I did I went home and I waited the next day or two days later before dealing with the wreck and all that. I was like well this was a rough start to the morning I ain't going to try my luck and say out here for the rest of the day let me try tomorrow or another day. Another word I checked out of the rest of the world until the next day.
I know exactly what happened. As a fellow shorty i have to open my door to use the atm. ALWAYS PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK! ive definitely hit the gas a few times trying to reach or readjusting myself back into the car, BUT IT WAS IN PARK! It's amazing how simple the act of putting your car in park can save you from an accident like this.
I drive a trash truck and make a point to double check the brakes are set before opening my door and lazily reaching as far as possible, for the keypads I have to press. 🤣 Was a thrower before a driver and my driver fell out. Luckily we were on level ground. 30 tons of truck doesn't care about you. 🫣
@@psycholol4855shes short. She cant reach the buttons on atm. In order for her to reach she basically has to stand. Sometimes you accidentally hit the gas pedal. You dont get it cuz you are probably not short. Im 5’6 and i rarely have to do this but sometimes i do and i also always put it in park if i take my seat belt off. If i had to guess she is probably under 5’2.
I worked at a autoshop in my younger days and we had one of those outdoor flower shops next door. The same elderly woman managed to hit that shop just like this woman did twice in a single month. We told her adult children after the first incident they should take her keys because she was obviously mentally impaired. The second time it happened we asked them why they didnt take her keys the first time. They said "we just couldnt do that to mom". Told them hope it was worth the severe lawsuit they would now be facing. I was the one to break her free from her car after the second accident and I hosed it with a fire extinguisher because I thought it was on fire. Turns out "mom" still had the pedal to the metal causing the billowing black cloud.
I used to hide my dad's keys cuz my mom refused to take them away from him. It's honestly a miracle he didn't kill anyone. He was on the way out himself and hopped up on so many drugs. It took my brother and I conspiring to kidnap my little sister for my mother to finally put him in hospice care.
When we're kids, our moms and dads take things away or tell us we're too young to do things, to protect us from being hurt. But then people are so afraid to tell their parents no because they're going to get hurt? I have no problem using the same sternness my parents used on me, when I tell them to quit doing something because they're too old. If they complain I tell them the same thing they always told me: this is for your safety, you don't really know what's good for you because you're biased and can't look outside your own mind, you're not 20 or 40 anymore, you're almost 70, you have to accept your age and limits just like I accepted the limits placed on me when I was a child who wasn't at my physical prime yet. People need to understand it's not mean or cruel to say no or tell someone they can't do something because it's too dangerous. Just because someone gets mad or sad when you say no to them, doesn't mean you're being mean, it means they chose to let it upset them like a child throwing a tantrum, instead of accepting it. And as the person with the most mental stability in a family, you have to start limiting some things for your parents if they're about to hurt other people with negligent behavior, it doesn't matter if their little feelings get hurt, that's petty and childish. People don't care if a five year old cried because he doesn't get to eat an entire gallon of chocolate ice cream by himself, but they're so worried grandma will cry if she can't drive her car around? Can't just let people do whatever they want all the time because they might be a little sad about it.
I was sitting in my dorm room 30 years ago … and heard a revving engine sound and crash -then another crash- I ran to my ground level window (as that sound continued) which viewed the dorm’s front yard and our deep horseshoe driveway which had parking all along the right edge. A man in the bank drive thru directly across the street was having a stroke with his foot heavy on the accelerator. His truck looked like a ball racing through a pinball machine coming up the driveway smacking the sides of cars. He hit concrete steps of the dorm’s front porch and his truck spun back around and was coming through the yard in front of my window and then crashed head on into a tree. I threw on a sweatshirt and cut-offs and ran out. How I was the first person to him baffles me. He was unconscious with his head on the steering wheel. All I could think to do was turn the engine off and try to talk to him. I was afraid to move him - smoke was coming from his hood, so I was grateful EMS showed up in the next minute. He’d hit 8 vehicles. I checked with the hospital and learned he’d had a stroke and was in ICU - I never could find out more after that - but I can still hear those sounds!
We have a saying in Danish, as it pertains to first aid: "liv før førlighed", which translates as "life before [motor function] ability." Essentially it means that while you should indeed never move someone with potential traumatic injury, you should also check for life signs (pulse, breathing) and indeed move them if that is (or becomes) absent so that you can perform CPR (however, correctly determining that is difficult and takes skill). This principle also applies if there's grave risk that, say, a fire may indeed break out, trapping them; although I will note that minor amounts of smoke coming from a crashed vehicle could just be leaking, boiling coolant or something else that's harmless. I'm not trying to belittle you, OP. If anything, this comment is meant as a reminder to everyone that might read this that people should take first aid classes and/or get them periodically refreshed.
What's insane is the amount of putzes actually believing this video is real. Are y'all not seeing the ghost image of the SUV left behind after it supposedly flies over the sedan? Even if you didn't, where's your basic common sense telling you that a car can't ramp off another without causing serious damage to it?
@@BreezusSneezussecond thing it didn’t ramp off the car it ramped off the dirt bank and hit the roof of the car. So there wasn’t that much damage. Also you can see the dirt stay on the first car and the other car hitting something in the abckground
I live in a town where 50% of the population is above retirement age, and you would not believe how often old people mistakenly press on the gas and just do not let go. We’ve had banks hit, Subway restaurants, Dollar stores, brick walls, bridges, houses, other cars, you name it, all driven into. I feel like there should be an age limit for driving, just like there is for teenagers.
There is actually so much going on in this video 😂😂 the radio was funny, what he said was hilarious, then the vehicle takes off and jumps a car like wtf!! Haha
Well how's the radio? All kinds of s*** on the news. And then that car jumps over the other car, actually looks like you just clipped the other car but looks like he had a big boulder. Crazy! x3
You and me both are in tears 🤣😭. I had to watch it 10 times. The comments as you mentioned are funny also. Did you notice after they cleared the jump the gas tank fell out 😆🤣?? 🇺🇸 1st 4ever
What probably happened is the driver couldn't reach so they opened the door and leaned over. They needed support and the only support their foot found was the accelerator. Since the body weight was not evenly distributed the driver couldn't just let off the gas or move their foot to the brake. This wouldn't have been a problem if they had put the vehicle into park. Or been a sensible person and purchased a manual.
You are close, but I don’t think she accidentally pushed the gas trying to support herself. She couldn’t reach the tube system and tried to open the door, but was too close. So she “rolled” forward a bit and mistook the gas as the brake. The SUV took off right after rolling less than a foot, right at the time she would have been pushing the brake. You can see how the SUV accelerated even more as it got farther away, that is when she smashed the gas pedal to the floor thinking it was the brake. I have seen t happen a couple times, or at least I responded to the accident when I was an EMT. The brain thinks you are pushing the brake but the brake isn’t working so you push harder. A lot of accidents involving elderly drivers is because of this, and they usually happen in parking lots or drive thru areas. There is usually some video of an elderly person driving through/into a building on the internet or news every few months.
Dude, manuals are fun to drive but I sure as hell don't want one for my daily driver, I just want to get to work and back as easily as possible. Plus automatics have higher gas mileage
Rumor has it auto accelerating can be achieved on newer cars, along with locking doors and steering your car. The more electronics are introduced in vehicles the more sketched out I get
What? No it hasnt. Modern cars could theoretically be hacked and have their throttle locked open. They operate in a drive by wire system so there isnt mechanical connection to yiur controls
@@NigelThornbery yea a tesla definitely has electronic steering acceleration because of the auto pilots. Even the ones without that are drive by wire im like 99.99% sure. THEORETICALLY they are all vulnerable to an electronic attack. There are a few cases of high profile people dying in EXTREMELY suspicious car crashes where the car accelerated to like 120mph in a small parking lot and drives right into a concrete wall or the car accelerates and drives off the road into a tree etc. It is not some crazy conspiracy theory it's just how computers work. Mind you its not something you should worry about because it is very unrealistic that ut would ever happen at any scale
The driver tried to open the door but hit the gas instead of the brake. You can see the car door is still open as it takes off. Lucky that slope was there as a launch pad. Incredible timing. Maybe put it in park next time?
There's more to it then that I'm sure! Accidentally hitting the gas instead of the brake.....ok. but holding the gas to the floor for 50 yards before taking flight?! Something had to have happened
@@joshpierce7449- *Often, when something entirely unexpected happens to people (particularly elderly people), they become so disoriented that it takes them a second or two to even recognize what is happening- and then another half-second or more to react appropriately, which explains why she launched herself into the stratosphere.*

I worked with a guy that was pinned between a vehicle and basically a brick wall this way (by someone hitting the gas instead of brake). He didn’t make it. I work in the service Dept at a dealership…the guy was sitting at his tool box which was against a brick wall…another guy was pulling a van in the bay when it happened. Ppl don’t realize hitting the gas instead of brake happens often. I tell my employees all the time it’s not worth the risk. If someone’s pulling a vehicle in a bay don’t be stupid and be in front of it. MOVE! Felt bad for his family…I think about them often. 😢
There are multiple incidents of people opening their door like this without being in park and decapitating/killing themselves. One incident a woman trying to pay for parking at an automated ticket machine, another was a guy in a drive thru who dropped his card and tried to pick it up.
My cousin died at a gas station pumping gas.. the car behind him waiting for the pump didn’t put the car in park but had their foot on the brake and it slipped off and he was instantly crushed between the vehicles. Crazy.
Lol they definitely got "deer caught in the headlights" moment! Pressed on the gas trying to reach the ATM, ive done it too, but im in park and pull the E brake. So it just gets loud lol. 😂
I didn’t expect that! That’s insane I hope no one was hurt. I was expecting them to back up and, catch their door on a pole or something to that effect. Car accidents suck

With her being that impaired maybe her family was hoping she would take herself out
It's called denial.
Getting old sucks
that will be a denied claim, I doubt their insurance policy includes acts of stupidity.
Every insurance policy covers acts of stupidity. That's the entire reason to have insurance. Otherwise the manufacturer's warranty would be enough.

Just physics and luck, no guardians to be found
What probably happened is the driver couldn't reach so they opened the door and leaned over.

Auto braking has been a thing for awhile on modern cars through computers and sensors. Auto acceleration has always been a human problem😂
@@fpscanada3862 what about all ev’s like a Tesla

Crazy when the news reporter predicts the news more accurately than the weatherman
The driver tried to open the door but hit the gas instead of the brake. You can see the car door is still open as it takes off. Lucky that slope was there as a launch pad. Incredible timing.
