      Home Depot cheap paint drop cloth. 15'x15' is cheap, packs tiny, keeps the weather off you and a patient. Keeps them off the ground.

    I was a mine emergency technician on underground coal mines for several years. The company I worked for was very good for supplying is with everything we needed. We had a "rescue sled" that had everything needed to deal with a cut or splinter to keeping a 22 man crew alive in a 0 oxygen environment for at least a week. I also kept a "oh shit" pack to deal with really bad things till I could get someone else to run to the sled and get what I needed. That pack had gloves, a pair of shears, a tourniquet, a face shield, a cheat seal, a clean Ziploc bag and roll of duct tape just in case the chest seal failed, and 4x4 gauze and lastly a space blanket and to instant hand warmers to break and stick in their arm pits.

    I suggest to ad instant chemical hand/toe/bodywarmers.
    Depents in the size of the pack.
    A pair of toe warmers fits in the most space blankets bags.
    Most are self-adhesive, so it can put on the renal area before wrapping the patient in a blanket.

    You and prepmedic are the greatest medics I've found on youtube! I'm saving up my money to buy 5 packs of the NAR packing gauze and the Xshears from medical gear outfitters so i can support these videos and build my kit. Also, i have a question, could a pressure dressing be improvised with an elastic bandage, some gauze, and a shooter marble/rock?

    You seem pretty comfortable with the 4" compression bandages. Are they just as good for a belt mount or chest rig kit, or is it a half measure reducing the size for convenience or marketing at the expense of effectiveness. I have what i think is a full size ifak on a pack, but i put the micro minimalist one on my belt.

      Most cities support the national CERT program, which provides a wide range of free training and can tell you what is available around you. Your FD, PD, or emergency management office may be sponsoring that.
      The local Red Cross usually dponsors first aid and CPR courses, typically $50-75.

    Any thoughts on adding Narcan to your kit? I don't have anyone that I know of who uses drugs and might need Narcan, but you never know when you're traveling or out and about. Thanks for sharing.

    • @whiteyfisk9769
      @whiteyfisk9769 6 месяцев назад

      As a former drug addict...i quit carrying narcan. Those people are usually so far gone in other ways, its a mercy to not bring them back. Again, i say that as a former iv heroin addict, so im not judging or think they're lower than me. Ive been there. At a certain point youre only prolonging suffering and delaying the inevitable.

    All good info. Good to see you back with us, we look forward to your vids. The Heimlich Maneuver. What is your opinion on the Heimlich maneuver device? I picked up a cheap one just to see what they're all about. The one I bought, Cheap, that looks like a plunger, however even as a plunger it didn't work. Are the better Heimlich plungers any better, or just false hope? If are good, which would you recommend? Keep your vids coming.

      Just rememer, Hot Hands and similar warmers often have a 2 year life from mfr date. Ones due to expire in a year are often sold cheap online. I use a Sharpie to mark expiry dates, and go through the kits annually to replace as needed.
      The expiry date on hand warmers is a hard stop, enough oxygen gets through the pack so they really go dead.
