Does anyone else find this more satisfying than a Picasso?

Few people today who can remember the feeling when bringing the first brand new car home from the showroom, after months of saving enough cash, and making sacrifices, and then, taking the family out for their first ride! Achievement was hard won in those days, but the reward was a grateful family, and envious friends!

What skill - superb! My mum used to drive a Standard Little Nine - Coffee and Cream with brown interior - it had seen better days, but you could still open the sunshine roof with one finger as you were driving along!

A dream car, unfortunately, as I recall they had no real speed at all, but great for 1938. My dad had one of these when I was a very small boy (I am 71 now), it was white (which I think he painted himself) and it was a convertible. A long time ago... But this is a wonderful restoration.

Robin, I had the 1940 Standard 12 as my first car in N.Z. It was white (later repainted in British Racing Green, complete with Royal Standard badges on the side). I cut down the gear stick, and the 1600 motor enabled a tidy acceleration, and handy top speed. And the rear seat for a 17 year-old....

Does Euro hide mean kangaroo, I heard something mentioned years ago in connection a sound system called Euro.vox, where the Euro meant kangaroo.
