In my area there are three trees/shrubs that have 99% of scrapes. Beech, Red Oak, and Mountain Laurel. Although the biggest buck I have on camera this year made a scrape under a dead maple limb hanging down from 10 feet above down to about eye level. They seem to prefer certain species for scrapes but if they aren't present or in the right locations, they'll use just about anything.
