  • C. S. Lewis was an extraordinarily gifted thinker. From a young age he was surrounded by books 📚 Through his reading, Christ reached out to him and called him to something higher. He would go on to become a champion of clear reasoning. An anti-materialist and destroyer of atheistic arguments.
Anthony Hopkins does a masterful job of portraying Lewis. Prior to production, Hopkins read many of C. S. Lewis's books. He especially loved, a Grief Observed, upon which this movie is based.

I remember going to see this movie at the theatre in Portland, Oregon. When leaving afterward I experienced a great phenomenon -- every man who was also walking out of it was crying, or obviously had been crying. From young twenty-somethings up through senior citizens. Some were hiding their faces so no one would notice, but others weren't so worried about blowing their noses or wiping their tears in public. It was amazing. Have never experienced that again.

Remains of the Day was a beautiful movie also. Anthony Hopkins starred in that movie too. May God's love comfort you in your story of life. It makes me feel sad to hear that you are old, I'm starting to get older. Life is difficult, but love wins in the end.

@@PaulRossOnline don't feel sad about getting older. Each age has its gifts to you if you are able to see them. Old age grants you the the right (not only the need) to slow down. One is no longer driven to accomplish so much. Simple pleasures give you joy. You have greater calmness of mind. Don't feel sad for me, I have peace.

Such a powerful movie. Which is harder? Is it harder to give from your heart or is it harder to receive when you are truly in need? In my opinion its much harder to receive. It requires a vulnerability I find difficult. Giving is difficult as well if the receiver refuses your gift. Both require vulnerability.

How I found this film was in true alignment with what I was meant to see. I had decided a short while back when I first discovered c.s. lewis that he was too academically dry for my interest. I was seeking spiritual leaders, pastors etc. Even just recently it came to my mind to look into him again but I decided not to. Then I come across this film. Seems to be what God had intended. I loved this movie and the moving story behind it. I like a bold woman and she wore him down in a nice way. Love is so strange.

Anthony Hopkins has to be the master of acting. Personally, i think that it is his voice, something about it that stays with you. He portrays that inate gift of his, and i salute him for same. Love is the greatest gift of all. The old adage "Health is your Wealth" rings through as well. A Classic.

Sorry, but the 1993 “non Hollywood” version is so much better! It’s not so much the acting but the dialogue. Lewis talks about God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all throughout the original version because that is what true Christian’s do! But atheistic Hollywood will have no part of this. How sad, pathetic, and dishonest!
