Recently bought some Champkey X Grips midsized with the tape, grip solution, knife and instrutions for £46. Watched a vid or 2 online and gave it a go. It was a complete success so I would encourage anyone to have a go. Also the product is really good quality. 👍
You inspired me have a go at changing my 12 year old Mizuno grips. Bought the exact same ones off Amazon and arrived in 3 days. Your video and instructions helped to make it easy 8 Irons. 3 wood and driver, in 1.5 hrs, learnt quickly that you have to get the grip on quick after you have wet both as it dries very quick!! Perfect Kit with everything that you need ,Thanks
Putting new grips on... easy enough. Taking like new grips off to save them... a bit more challenging. Did it with a bent clothes hanger, mineral solution and an air compressor. Thanks Simon.
I use their "multi-compound looking" set in midsize and have been doing it for a few years. They might (not really so sure) last a bit less than pukka "name brand" and certainly do have a few inconsistencies in the looks department (the cords being a bit tighter in one spot, less in other, the "seam" being a bit too visible or not 100 straight) but for the price, it's really a no brainer. And nothing beats a set of freshly re-gripped clubs (bar a set of new perfectly fitted clubs, obviously)!!! The fluid and tape are really quite decent in the kit as well!
Great video and information to share. The cost of having clubs regripped professionally in some places is crazy. I’ve found the Saplize grips, that are even designed to look like golf pride grips are just as good and a fraction of the price.
2 other tips, when applying the tape make sure the joint line is running down the back of the shaft so you can't feel the tape line under the grip, plus push a tee into the end of the new grip when applying to the club to remove and trapped air, this stops the grip riding back up afterwards
I use the Golf Pride MCCplus4 Align grips, but I bought a used 5 wood a while back that had that brand of grip on it that was almost the same size as the golf pride and I’ll be honest, it’s one of the most comfortable grips in my bag.
I used a Saplize set of jumbo grips from Amazon, also came with the full setup, but I have to say after a couple of months the poor quality showed, maybe the other options they have are better, but the ones I had started to lose their shape and become uneven, and even felt a bit greasy at times, so I’ve gone back to using golf pride grips, it is annoyingly expensive but the assurance that it’s actually a quality product is worth it for me.
I have used Golf Pride in the past in they usually last only one season. I then moved to Lamkin and they lasted way longer. I have played 2 full years (80 games +) with the Slapsize that I see in this video, and they are still great. My brother used the Karma Velvet and they are great also. If a golfer prefer a special grip that has rubber and cord, they should go with Golf Pride, but basic rubber grips suits me very well.
Bought this exact kit end of last year to regrip a 15 year old set. Really great, only issue I had was when the solution gets on the grip it dissolved the white ink. Just need to be careful with that!
Hey, I bought the Champkey grip set off Amazon 2 years ago, to regrip an old secondhand set of clubs. Nothing wrong with the grips, may be not as soft or tacky as premium brand but they do the job. The kit included everything to made the job really easy!
Hi Simon… I use cheap GP MCC plus 4 standards from eBay… They’re fine for me, a little bit thin but 5 layers of masking tape does the job… I only play twice a month so they seem to last… Cheers… 👍
I am currently rocking the same kit in red/black and they are perfectly fine for budget clubs. I wouldn't put them on my Callaways, but my Wilson's are perfect.
The grips look fine, I just put the Tri-tac jumbo grips, I managed to get 10 grips for £30. I have now used the Champkey mid sized grips twice before that.
Great video, I usually do my own grips in the garden to save money. I like the idea of a spray container for the solution, I use a bottle which is fiddly.
I also went Amazon for mine and went for the Champkey TX after watching a review vid from Mr Shortgame I think. Never regripped in my life but glad I gave it a go. Saved a fortune from going anywhere to get them done and what a doddle it was 👍👍👍
I have used Saplize grips for the past three years. They are very affordable and very good quality. I play twice a week, and they will last me a full year if not more
Got mine from eBay 13 grips and tape for 17.99. Super tacky and really nice feel, have held up really well. Used tape to build up to the size I wanted. It is so easy that there is no reason to have knackered grips!
Great one mate" (People need to learn to change their own grips) Our grips her in Sweden,(the cheapest one - Karma black Velvet - basically same kind of kit that you had + towel) only cost around 39 pounds. 😊👍
I make a reminder - fold double sided tape in half and half again until you get a good rib. It’s better than the grips with reminders and less harsh than a coat hanger. And you can set it precisely, as I prefer a rib set to 170 degrees
Simon, love the channel and content. Amazon here in the states has Karma 14 golf pride tour wrap knock-off for $13.98 USD shipped. I snag a lot of preloved Ping clubs and flip them and many times add a new grip.
Bought some customer Champkey X-Grip Rubber (Z-Grip replica) with tape for $50 CND. Love them! Also bought a set of TM Speedblades that had Saplize MMC grips on them and they were fantastic quality.
I used a similar re-gripping kit about 6 months ago. Overall I as pleased, however I also noticed the grips seem a little undersized, and they seemed not to last as long as a "name brand" grip. I am now re-gripping with a named grip, but I will continue to use the tape a fluid. For what I spent I was satisfied, I just prefer a different grip style.
Here in the United States we have Karma Grips for 15 without the marking and 25 midsize. Sure, they do not have the kit, but they have done very well for me and have saved me tons of money. Amazon have some great grips if you can see past the label.
I buy grips from nordicagolf karma standard grip is under 50e and you got, solvent, rubber viceclamp, golftowel and griptape. Playd Karma standard and midsize and i like them 😀👍
Great content as always, Simon! I’ve used the same brand but slightly different grips on a decent, but slightly older set of Big Bertha irons. I only play every few weeks but have found them to be very good feeling and holding up… so far! If your like me, I play 9 holes every few weeks and 18 when I get chance, these grips are very good value and give good performance. I genuinely wouldn’t know the difference or benefit from anything more expensive.
I've had them for about 15-20 rounds plus range sessions and they look and feel the same. I've cleaned them with diluted 16:1 All purpose cleaner a few times as well without damage
lol the first time I regripped my clubs I didn't have the clamp, so I took a 2X2 and drilled a hole in the middle then cut it in half and it work fine but, not as easy as one of those clamps, I did get a clamp later.
The moment I realized how easy it is to regrip a club was a sad moment for my club seller/pro shop. It is so easy... since that time I change grips by myself.
i recently bought 13 grips (+ tape) for $30 on amazon. and the grips are honestly they're better than my favorite grips (golf pride tour wraps). they're tacky, and very well cushioned. only prob is they're purple and white. prolly why they're cheap. but doesn't bother me too much.
I regripped my current gamers from around 1996 with the Champkey Black/White grips in a midsize because my current gamers were about $260 new and definitely don't require expensive grips
How do the grips feel.... Did they use quality material, what do you think of the grips based on 1 through 10, 10 being the best. Thanks for a great video 👍👍
Hey, don’t sleep on them Amazon Grip Packages. 🤣 I started with the Winn DriTac Grips from Amazon, now I’ve recently purchased the Kingrasps Grips. They are the Golf Pride MCC knockoffs. Im about to order more for my new clubs. Different colors 😂. Plus the process of re-gripping clubs is addictive. Yay Amazon!! (Disclaimer: I’m an Amazon Delivery Driver.) 🤣🥂
Golf Pride Tour Wraps on all my irons and Winn DriTac Oversized on all my woods... Buy once, cry once... My Tour Wraps have lasted me close to 10 years before slowly replacing them one by one as they wear out...
Hi Simon, I wonder if you would know. I bought a 2nd hand Scotty and would love to change the grip. Do you think the black matador grip on Amazon will be authentic Scotty Cameron or a fake? It’s just under £50
These are a great deal! However outside of this deal if the club pro only charges 2 quid a club to install why would you ever pay 15 quid for a grip kit to fit yourself if only installing once per year or two years?
I re-gripped an old Cobra M-Speed driver for my first ever time doing it. Cheap midsized grip for about £3 off the Bay, £5 set of 14 tapes, and some white spirit. Took longer to get the old tape off than to do everything else, and was easy peasy. People shouldn't be scared of trying it at home.
I started to regrip my clubs after pros putting them on squint or too thick or too thin. The bugbear l fin now is the quality of the tape... The clear tape is a nightmare as it's too thin and too sticky and makes a 2 minute job more difficult. Luckily l eventually found a decent supplier on ebay after a few poor buys.
Good video . Lynx 👍.. I’m chuffed there only worth 45 pounds .. I’m a 7hc and the wife is 12 . We both play with Lynx clubs . We’ve never fallen into the marketing boll.x trap that sooo many others seem too .
Only thing to watch is Amazon do sell products at a loss alot to grab the market share and undercut competitors to put them under. won't affect the big brands but will too smaller companies
I got multi compound saplize grips from amazon the same as this set. good grip for the money and easy to do yourself normally comes with insturctions as well. you just gotta be a bit quick with aligning or you could get caught out. The kit i got came with a shaft clamp for a vice aswell which is useful if you have one.
Problem I've found with those grips is that they get a film of white powder on them after a few months, I've tried the fake golf pride ones also for customers and they come back in y months because they've gone hard and shinny, and discoloured
They re great value, essentially it’s like buying a cheap tyre and expensive one. The expensive one will perform and last longer. But never heard of a tyre that 4x the price of a basic one!
I’ve done my own grips for a while now and I’ve got to tell you that by the looks of how easy that grip went on I sure wouldn’t want to play it. It shouldn’t go on that easy. I’m sure that one will move around during play. With grips being your only contact with the club it might be a good idea to make sure the quality is there. Most of those kits are garbage but might be ok for the occasional round non caring type of player.
I still wouldn't buy these. My friend bought the same deal on Amazon. After playing once a week for 3 months, he needs to regrip again. The cheap rubber compound used wears way to fast to be worth it.
I think it's time you did another expose of all these fake grips that are selling on Amazon and eBay. The fakers are not even trying to cover their tracks - these grips are 1/4 price SuperStrokes. So trying to avoid this I bought a SuperStroke off Amazon at a nearly normal price. Well, the Tech Port fell out when I opened the packet - obviously a fake. In that case, I sent it back immediately - but thank God I didn't mount it on a shaft before I found it was fake. This has to be a huge issue for golfers right now.
Bought the champque multi compound from Amazon. Took them to my pro shop as having lengths and lie changed to. First word out of there mouth. There fake and will fall apart. Eat there words when I picked them up there a great grip. Will be doing them myself next time.
It's actually a terrible deal. You could get solvent and tape that will last a while, those grips you'll need to replace them sooner than name brand. When you can get golf pride tour velvet for 30 for 8. That's an absolute rip off considering they only cost about 2$ each you're paying double for junk. Amazon is just over priced now from people buying at discount and selling at higher than retail, you think you're getting a deal but you're getting ripped off. That whole set should only be like 18$ at most.
Stop being a golf snob. I get it, they’re not for you, but you’re literally commenting everywhere saying how crap they are and to buy golf pride tour velvet grips. I’ve had tour velvet and they barely last a season, they are a rip off. I get it that you’re a brand person but you’re being snobby about it and there’s no need. Not everyone has loads of money, or plays regularly. To some people who play a couple of times a month and have a high handicap grips like these might be perfect. All your comments are negative so if you’ve got nothing positive to say other than push your golf pride sales pitch then nobody cares, as is apparent by your distinct lack of likes on your comments. You’re just trolling

Simon, love the channel and content. Amazon here in the states has Karma 14 golf pride tour wrap knock-off for $13.98 USD shipped. I snag a lot of preloved Ping clubs and flip them and many times add a new grip.

Cant beat the Karma cord grips.
I'm pretty sure Karma is made by Hireko, and they have kits on their website. I've used the Karma velvet midsize and oversize for years.
I done a video on these very grips. I use the 360 version of these and I love them. Saplize are a great brand
Saplize has good stuff. Karma grips work also. It’s also best to have a heat gun to get the crusty, sticky crud off.

Cracking vid. I nearly bought some Golf Pride grips off amazon once, but they were so cheapIy priced I couldn't believe they were genuine.
Golf pride grips aren't that expensive.
Great content as usual. Have you tried compressed air grip fitting? Does it work in a UK climate. Would like to hear your thoughts.
Great content as always, Simon! I’ve used the same brand but slightly different grips on a decent, but slightly older set of Big Bertha irons. I only play every few weeks but have found them to be very good feeling and holding up… so far!

Some component companies sell home brand velvet style grips for about $2 each. I've always been pretty happy with them.
Those grips should only be 2$ each.
Great video. I would not be confident doing that lol. ….. but you make it look super cool. ⛳️👍🏻
Simon, tour fit from ebay are £42 for a set of 13 off eBay and I can't distinguish them from golf pride mc4s
Much easier with a vise to hold the club securely while removing AND installing a grip.
Good informative vlog, thanks Simon. 👍

I re-gripped an old Cobra M-Speed driver for my first ever time doing it. Cheap midsized grip for about £3 off the Bay, £5 set of 14 tapes, and some white spirit.

All your comments are negative so if you’ve got nothing positive to say other than push your golf pride sales pitch then nobody cares, as is apparent by your distinct lack of likes on your comments. You’re just trolling
Really wondering how they can be sold so cheap? Because of cheap Chinese labor and because of how China intentionally devalues their currency.
You do to much talking get to the point terrible video
