King Gizz can make Metal, Folk, Jazz, Rock, Fusion, synth pop, electro, techno, garage, microtonal, pop, rap, hip-hop, instrumental, etc. And all make it good. Incredible, the most important band of this times.
I’m also reminded of Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason at Pompeii here, particularly on Set The Control For The Heart Of The Sun. But yeah, primarily Tool. The Moog filter sweeps underneath his drumming sounds a lot like material from Fear Inoculum

King Gizz and Blood Incantation are 2 bands constantly on my playlist lately, it's amazing to see Joey is also fan. These guys never cease to amaze me! 🤘
To live at the same time as this band, it's indescribable. They take so many genres and make them sound like Gizz. It never feels fake or overly constructed, rather natural, synchronous, connected, WHOLE. And they execute their work flawlessly live.
They should just stick to metal. I pretty much only listen to Infest the Rats Nest, the new album, and their prog metal shit. The rest of their catalogue doesn't appeal to me. They clearly get people the most excited when they play the heavier and groovier stuff.

Looking back towards Gizz's earliest stuff, I'd say Cavs has grown by a large margin. He was already excellent behind the kit, but his timing, dynamic, and creativity in difficult time signatures has reached new heights. Awesome video 🧙♂️❤️⚡

The movement at 8:52 is so damn pretty. It reminds me emotionally of the bit at 8:38 in Rosetta Stoned where Tool comes out of the chaotic breakdown into a super-melodic vocal line.

The riff at 8:50 gives me heavy Gojira vibes and the solo gives me very heavy Alex Lifeson vibes. While the drumming gives me some strong Danny Carey vibes here as well. The thing that never ceases to amaze me about King Giz is the range of inspirations they pull from and as well as all the originality that they put in to their music.
They resemble Darryl Hall and John Oates. :-) Never heard of this band until RUclips shuffled into my mix. I"m blown away by this sound and can't believe I never heard of them until now. Not many bands turn my head these days but this one sure did.
This song, especially the drums, reminds me of Pink Floyd - Live in Pompeii: Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. Epic jungle tom drumming in them both.
during the terrific drum solo, starting 4 minutes into the performance, the band break into what sounds like a Tool homage... that a band that puts out as many albums in as many different styles as King Gizzard can even pull off a track that fluidly moves between progressive, post and death metal motifs is so impressive. Michael Cavanagh pulling off Danny Carey type solo is stunning.
