Iron Lung just ticks every box for a Gizz song. It's chill and spacy, it's heavy, it's jammy, it's got catchy hooks and then throws you off the deep end in to face melting solos. They really outdid themselves on this one.
Iron luuuuuuuuuung! This is my favorite performance of theirs. The sound is just perfect and more accessible, but still maintaining the trippiness. The drummer just makes me want to buy a kit so bad!!! He's so clean

Looking at how concentrated and calculated Cavs drumming is on this performance is mesmerizing, this man is a machine
Yep the entire band are immensely talented but Cavs is definitely the most technically skilled. Only other member that could be argued is Joey imo.

This band played 3, three-hour sets at Red Rocks this year without repeating a song, and have released an average of 3 records a year, all different themes and in many cases, genres, and always distinctly their sound (desert-psych)~
They are a tribute to what can be accomplished when an artist constantly challenges themselves and pushes the limits of not only themselves, but of society and culture- pretty cool tbh
I saw them in Berkeley SF for one of the 3 hour shows 3rd Oct 2022. They were fantastic and always are. I've seen them 4 times now. I live in the UK, so we planned an epic 2500 mile road trip circulated around this concert. Exactly 9 months after the concert we had our first child. Gizz are magic.

Ambrose's vocals are killer on the mid section of iron lung. Those are rock vocals. I really felt something there.

No need for a Grammy. Only the sell out main stream artists on big record labels are candidate's for that award. And they don't have the freedom to wright and compose their own music. So an independent record lable is the best move for any artist. Shore the big names ("brands") might have the money and fame but they are slaves to the industry. Only puppets and monny making machines to the elite.
They certainly deserve it, but those institutions have sadly become jokes

I think Cookie is the most underrated member of the band. Every time it cuts to him the dude is fucking shredding and he’s so smooth with it

Seems like Cookie's part is mixed to the right ear-piece (at least on mine) and he plays soooo clean if you pay attention to it!

@@martinsilva9040 he has two JHS superbolts one for guitar one for vocals and also a DBA echo master for vocals as well. Rest of the guitar rig is a tc electronics shaker vibrator (orange pedal) boss a tuner and DD3 delay. A boss metal tone and what looks like some kind of zvex fuzz pedal that’s under the tuner. And lastly the wah cry baby pedal
I think I'm very late to the Ambrose train but man that guy is incredible. If he were just the second vocalist that would be great but he's a multi-instrumentalist as well. What versatility on display here

I like how Ambrose is gradually being moved to the role of a co-equal frontman.
My King Gizz obsession started with this video. I now own nine of their records and it's pretty much the only band I've listened to since the beginning of the year. Their catalog is so massive, it varies so much and it's all top notch. They really do spoil their listeners and I can't wait to see what they come out with in the future.
I found them during the pandemic, and they have been pretty much all I have listened to for 3 years now! I don't see this ever stopping. Gizztober when they brought out 3 (actually 4 - Timeland digital) was the best month ever.
Been a fan since 2017. Trust me, your obsession and only listen to only KGLW as you consume their vast library is quite common among fans!

@@fcamiola I’ve been collecting them since 2017, so I had a bit of a head start lol. But it really is incredible just how vast their library of sound is, and despite how different it all is, it’s still strangely cohesive to their “core” sound.
The guitar layering on all of these songs is so well done. Seeing all these guitars talking to each other on camera is such a treat. Thanks KEXP for all these angles, great as always!

Stu did the audio mixes on this performance and their other KEXP performances. He has a lot to do with that impeccable sound along with the audio engineers.

I actually think the performances are roughly equal….but having the live performance on video adds a lot to enhance the experience of the song.
Personally, any good jam band gets exponentially better the closer to in-person the experience is
KEXP's audio / visual production for these sets is absolute perfection, I've never seen music captured so well
The production on this is better than their albums I have to say.

@@ronnfig don’t get me wrong. I have loved Gizz from 2015 and have all their albums. Seen them loads of times. I’m a massive fan. I just think that musicians aren’t necessarily engineers and audio pros. I understand why they produce and record their albums how they do. It allows for autonomy and means they can rehearse and record on a whim. But the Beatles recorded at Abbey Road with George Martin producing for a reason. I love KEXP’s production, that’s what they do, and they do it like the best of the best.

They can get so much out of a single melody or motif it's insane. Iron Lung is an absolute masterpiece and I've had it on repeat daily. I just saw them at Levitation and it's 100% one of the highlights of my year.

These 'nice guys' are the absolute best! I was blessed to see them in Detroit and at the final Red Rocks show last week. Even got to meet them in airport the next morning by luck!
