walker you are the best... one of your best videos, as I have no experience with Hot Tenting... so I gained so much new info....
Thanks!
Excellent video. I do nothing but tarp camping. Occasionally if the weather is expected to be bad I’ll use a DD 3x3 tarp in a tent configuration with a walking pole in the centre. I am in the U.K. so our weather tends to be constantly soggy to some degree. I never use a ground sheet... instead I use a Gortex British Army bivvi, they’re huge... designed to fit a soldier, fully clothed, a 120 litre Bergen, and a rifle with room to spare. The reason being that in the summer you could just lay on top of it, in the winter you’re fully sealed in a watertight bag entirely eliminating the need for any further protection.
Thanks for watching!
Hey, man! Yes, definitely writing side down. If you notice when driving by home construction, you will always see the writing facing out from foundations and exteriors where Tyvek is used. And I’m in for the free ground cloth!
You're in!
MegaWoodswalker, Thanks! And how’s your dietary situation progressing? I think you were leaning towards Keto, yes?
Great video, Kevin! I'm NOT in because you turned me onto Tyvek some time ago. Thanks again! Very generous of you to do this GAW! Good luck everyone!
Thanks!
Walker, thanks for sharing, I would agree on the printed side against the ground . I'm in for the ground cloth. Atb brother 👍
Sounds good and you're in!
He has the best Introduction :-) "Hey! its the Walker.... "
I am in. Thank you for sharing your outdoor experiences and knowledge! Can't wait to get the tipi out:)
You're in!
Looking forward to the new season of hot tent I’m in MWW.

If there is a difference, in standard
construction the white side or unwritten side is toward the warm moist inside of building, and the printed side is toward the wet cold outside of the building. Some one if you have the installation instructions read them for us.
But my carpenter partner did insisted that any thing with printing or logos must be installed with the printing or logos right side up even though it was covered up within hours or days. That realy doesn't matter but we did it that way just to keep him happy.
Thanks for the insight!
If you want to be like a teenager with posters in your room, then definitely Dupont up...😁 I’ve been seriously thinking about tarp camping, having a good ground sheet is something I would use. I’m in.
Then you're in brother.
I'm in good info on ground cloths. I sometimes use my space blanket as a ground cloth.

I am in. Thanks again for the opportunity. As for the label, all buildings have the label side facing the weather. That way it is free advertising for the Tyvek manufacturer. So I would say the label side should always face the elements..ie label side down facing the ground or if a tarp situation, then facing up toward the sky for moisture. Also, I've read if you wash the Tyvek in a clothes washer it becomes much quieter and pliable. never heard if that degrades its moisture barrier qualities / durability or not.
True. With some use it gets quieter. You're in!
I'm in... thanks for all time you put in making the videos.

Hey Walker -
Some time ago you made a video about a self contained bug net for use in your Kifaru Tipi. Luxe Hiking Gear makes a self contained product that fits your needs. The top half is a bug net and the bottom half is solid with a bathtub floor. You can get them in different sizes, and there is a special one made for winter hiking. They are held up by the center pole that supports the tipi. I think they are about $90.00
Thanks for the insight Brother. Cant wait for the Hot tent vids! Thumbs up~John
Thanks!
Great video that provides some great options to use for a ground mat. Something to think about for my Survival Kit. I am most definitely in!
You're in!
I'm in. I am just starting to hot tent this season. I got a 10' Ø tent and Kni-co Trekker stove last week so I just waiting for the cooler weather to come.
Tyvek building wrap is designed to be installed with lettering on the outside to shed macro water. The non-printed side is designed to allow water vapour to escape out. I don't know if it makes a whole lot of difference for a groundsheet after a couple of uses of wear but probably the printed side down. A groundsheet even the wrong way down is better than no groundsheet. I'm a building technologist. :)
Thanks and good luck with winter camping. You're in!

.
To me - Logic says the painted side is the toughest and more weatherproof because they want to advertise on the side of people's buildings.
Sounds right. You're in!
I'm in. Can't wait for more hot tenting videos to come this fall/winter, and of course I've counted down from 365 days to Prepper Claus, I haven't seen any Croc sign anywhere on the ground!
LOL! You're in!
Well it’s almost my favorite time of the year and that means it’s time for hot tenting hopefully this year you are able to to get in on some good trips last year we didn’t get but about three inches of snow here in Kentucky
The camera equipment is looking good by the way brother

Here’s a question if anyone knows. Can mosquitoes bite through Tyvex?
I couldn't see how as it's seems more solid than loose weave nylon etc etc. But not sure.
Great info...Tyvek is cheap and effective. I use them for groundcloth or tarp depending on the need. Im in!
You're in!
I live in the Uk but I'm in coz I work for Dupont and I have all the Tyvek in need 😊 By the way, its slightly better lettered side down as it supposed to "face the elements" that way.
Good info and thanks for watching!
I'm in great video walker and options

Another informative video. Thank you and I'm in.
You're in!
Still miss you and your video's Big Guy. You will be with me in spirit every time I head out to then boonies.
Label faces the elements. At least on buildings it is. So it would be label down.
Sounds good! Thanks!
I'd say "I'm in" but I have a roll of that stuff in my basement so I'll pass and let someone else be the winner this time. Can't wait for hot tenting weather. The worse it is, the better. Hopefully we'll get some good snow storms this winter
Hoping for a good winter camping season.
@@MegaWoodswalker I was out last night cooking a pound of thick cut bacon in a Keith titanium fry pan over a twig stove. When I raised the fry pan off the fire to try and drain off some of the grease the handle gave way. All the bacon dropped into the dirt.
@@ElkArrow The slider thing as to be all the way down till it really stops good. If so it never gives way or at least mine doesn't. But I did dump some bacon once as it was't far enough to have the proper tension.
I'm in, thanks for the vids and gaws.

I'm in! Looking forward to this winter's hot tenting vids

The side with letters facing down
Thanks! You're in!
I’m in. DuPont side down. That is the side that is exposed to the environment when placed on buildings prior to siding being installed.
I’m in, thanks. I love hot tenting. Take care.

The lettering is always out when installed on a house , so common sense would tell me that lettering up is the right way. Also , construction sites are a great place to pick this stuff up for FREE. I worked on sites daily so it was very accessable to me.
Thanks!You're in!
