finally i was waiting for your reaction thank you!! :) i want to tell you that this is the retelling of the official games over 10 years of this main character called Deft, and how he kept losing before winning worlds 2022. all the fight scenes are mimicking the exact way how he was fighting ingame in Worlds and how he fought against his former teammates, like the slow-mo shot where his support with a big shield called Keria sacrificed himself for him and then you see them battling in the end which represents worlds finals last year alongside Faker and how with the help of his team members (DRX) won the championship. btw he was planning to retire but ended up by him winning his 1st time ever worlds title.

The music video retells Deft (main character, real life player)'s story in League. He went to the same high school as Faker (the pretty much undisputed best player of all time in LoL), yet Faker was always ahead of him for the past 10 years. In 2013 Faker won Worlds as a rookie whilst Deft failed to qualify, and the video shows Deft's history with being eliminated by different teams throughout the years. It also shows his teammates during those teams he played on, Meiko on EDG, Doran and Keria on DRX.
At the end of the video we follow Deft's Worlds run from last year, where to FINALLY win a championship after 10 years of playing competitively he had to BEAT his former teammates, Meiko, Doran and Keria, even Faker himself, his "in real life" rival from high school, the GOAT of League, it really came full circle.
The storyline of Deft last year felt so poetic, like it was written in a script, his team DRX was the 4th seed from Korea and basically no one expected them to even make it past the group stage, and then they exceeded expectations and won the whole thing. As a Deft fan for 8 years it felt so nice seeing him finally win the championship, he's been fighting so hard and struggling so much, he was even planning on retiring but gave it one last chance and then he ended up winning it. He would always be eliminated in the quarterfinals, so when he made it past the quarters last year he was crying. He also cried after winning it all.
For the song itself I really enjoy it! Some people don't see it as being on the same level as some older songs like RISE, Legends Never Die etc. Which yeah I can agree on, but I think GODS is really one of my top 3 or 4 Worlds songs. I really enjoy it and I can't wait for the world finals opening ceremony!

Video is the epic underdog story of the last worlds. The main character (Deft) had to fight former team-mates along the way to winning the finals. Debuted around the same time of Faker'so his journey has been long.

This follows the story of Deft, a korean professional League player
The video starts with him on 2012, and when he's in class, he's looking at Faker, the guy with the round glasses. Faker and Deft went to the same higschool in real life and they both debuted as professional players on 2013. Deft was good at the game, but Faker was crazy good. He was a prodigy yet to be discovered
Later, Deft is playing League and he's fighting a Blue Sentinel, a mid difficulty monster that spawns in a certain place in the League map. Then he looks at the huge Baron Nashor. The Baron Nashor is an epic monster that spawns in the map only after it's 20 minutes into the game, and it's hard to defeat. Usually, at least 3 players are needed to kill it in game. And the one fighting Baron Nashor is, again, Faker. The fact that Deft is fighting just a blue sentinel while Faker is fighting Baron Nashor depicts the level difference between them. When they both debuted on 2013, Deft had an "average" season. He was not bad but he was not super good either. However, Faker carried his team, T1, to win his first Worlds title on his maiden season and he quickly became the best player in the world. At this point, for Deft, Faker was the guy looking from above, the player he aspired to become.
We fast forward to 2014. Back then, in the Korean professional league, organisations were allowed to have 2 sister teams playing in the same competition. Samsung had 2 teams: Samsung Blue and Samsung White. From the 2, SS Blue, Deft's team, was considered to be slightly better. In the end, both teams reached Worlds 2014 semifinals. SS Blue was expected to win. Here we see Pawn, one of SS White's players. He played in SS Blue for some time in 2013, so he used to be Deft's teammate, until Pawn was moved to SS White. SSW won the series at the end, kicking Deft's SSB out. SSW actually won Worlds later.
We go to 2015. Deft moves to a Chinese team called Edward Gaming, or EDG for short. Just in case you haven't ever played League, there are 2 team roles, "AD Carry" and "Support", that spend a lot of time together and always have really good sinergy. Deft plays as ADC, and his support on EDG was Meiko, Deft's teammate with the green lantern in the video. Every season, before Worlds, there is another international competition, the Mid Season Invitational, in which the best team from each league up to that point of the season plays. It is less important than Worlds but it's still pretty important. Deft's EDG won MSI 2015, so at the start of Worlds 2015 they were considered to be the best team in the world. In Worlds quarterfinals, EDG was against Fnatic, an European team. Asian teams have always been better than European teams through the history of professional League, so nobody expected FNC to defeat EDG. Also, FNC that year had a very unusual strategy in which Rekkles, FNC's ADC, the blonde guy with the electric shurikens in the video, played a character that wasn't used as ADC frequently (that character is Kennen, an electric ninja with the same powers as Rekkles in the video), so the fact that EDG lost to FNC in that way was a little bit humilliating considering what was expected from EDG that year.
Then we see Deft in his chair getting hit by lots of things, because between 2016 and 2019 he just couldn't get past Worlds quarterfinals and was knocked out from the competition again and again. It was like a curse at this point.
Then we see 2020. Deft now plays for korean team DRX. We see one of his teammates, Doran, who is defeated by the player Canyon. DRX were up against Damwon Gaming, a team that was unstoppable that year. Showmaker, another Damwon player, shows up with the dark magic superpowers from the character Syndra and attacks Deft. Then, Keria shows up.
Keria was Deft's support that year. It was Keria's first year as the main support for DRX's main team. Keria and Deft had a very cute friendship and like a wholesome master-apprentice companionship. He knew about Deft's 7 year struggle to win Worlds, so in an interview, he had promised Deft they would win Worlds together. That's why Keria sacrifices himself for Deft in such a dramatic way in the video. Damwon kick DRX out of Worlds. Deft loses at quarterfinals once again. Damwon ended up winning Worlds 2020 later.
Keria had had a very promising first season as support, so he received an offer no one can reject. An offer to play for T1. T1 is Faker's team (the guy from Deft's higschool). It is the best team in the history of League. And Faker is League's GOAT. Nobody can say no to such an offer. So Keria moved to T1 after not fulfilling the promise he made to Deft.
Deft moved to another korean team in 2021, Hanwha Life Esports (HLE), where he was once again kicked out of Worlds in quarterfinals (not shown in the video). The team that wins Worlds 2021 is his former chinese team EDG, with his friend and former support Meiko still playing there.
In 2022 Deft goes back to DRX. They were kinda weak at the start of the season so Deft thinks it's over. He thinks he will never win Worlds, as he has to retire at the end of the year. As you probably know, Korean young men have to join the army for some time. Deft could not delay it for longer. He would have to retire from League and join the military.
Surprisingly, DRX manage to qualify for Worlds Play In, a pre-event from which 4 teams qualified to Worlds, from a pool of 10 teams (I don't remember exactly how many) from all the leagues in the world. DRX get past Play In stage and qualify for Worlds, and then they make it to quarterfinals. No one expects much from them, however, as Play In teams had never made it too far in Worlds. That's why in the video, when Deft's teammates pick him up from the depths, they enter the stage from below with an elevator. They are the underdogs.
To make it worse, in quarterfinals they had to face the title holders, EDG. Deft has to face Meiko, and as seen on the video, he wins. It was the most epic comeback in the history of League. Deft finally breaks his quarterfinals curse and makes it to semifinals.
There, it's DRX vs Gen G. Deft has to face another one of his former teammates, Doran. In the final game of semifinals, Doran was playing really well, and it looked like he was going to carry his team into winning. That's why he's a giant in the video. However, DRX managed to win, and they qualified for the finals.
And they had to face T1. Where Keria plays. It's the irony of destiny. Keria promised Deft they would win Worlds together and they end up having to defeat each other to win the title 2 years later. When Deft is about to shoot Keria, Faker shows up.
Even more irony. Imagine being Deft at this point. When you are finally close to winning Worlds after almost 10 years, you have to play against that one guy. That one guy from highschool who was always ahead of you. I like the particular shot when Faker takes Deft down both Faker and Keria stand there, about to kill him. Keria was like Deft's younger brother, but he switched sides and now he has a new evil master (Faker is not evil, of course, but in this story it kinda looks like he is, and I love how they made it so dramatic xD).
When it looks like it's over, Deft's team appears to save him and they win Worlds together. The scenes of Deft celebrating with his team are just the same as in the live broadcast.
It doesn't appear here, but after losing, T1's players were all devastated. But one of them looked more broken than the others. Keria. He was crying and shaking. It could be that he's just more connected to his emotions than his teammates, but it almost looks like he's... Regretful. He left DRX to pursue glory, and now he's lost against his former team, in which 2 of his former teammates, Deft and Pyosik, still play. After a series, in league, players from the winning team always approach the losing team to salute them one by one and show respect and sportsmanship. Deft and Pyosik both hugged Keria. Pyosik almost cried. I cried too when I was watching it. It was so impactful.
This narrative from last year was so epic, like a story from fiction. It's thanks to things like this that I love League's competitive scene.
In the end, thanks to the fact that he won Worlds, Deft actually managed to delay joining military service for one more year. He plays for Dplus now (team formerly known as Damwon, 2020 Worlds champions) and they qualified for Worlds again. They are not expected to win due to their performance on the korean league, but... Who knows. DRX were not expected to win last year either

The music video portrays a pro player named Deft and his journey into becoming the Worlds Champion.
In the first part, he went to the same high school with Faker, who achieved glory early on in his career and won 3 World Championships (seen as him slaying the bigger monster 'Baron')
The next few scenarios are him trying to win the championship with some of his former teammates
    • In 2014, he was knocked out by Samsung White (Pawn who holds a long hammer) in Semis
    • In 2015, He and his former teammate Meiko (the one with lantern) was knocked out by Fnatic (Rekkles with Electic shurikens) at quarterfinals
    • He then goes fast forward getting barraged by attacks as he gets kicked out multiple times (2016 - Quarterfinals, 2018 - Quarterfinals)
    • He was knocked out from Quarterfinals in 2020 too with his former teammate Keria (with the shield) who promised him they will win the trophy (They lost to eventual champions Damwon Gaming)
    • Deft was thrown down deep and his new squad raised him up as they rise from the bottom as the underdog who had to fight through play-ins up to Finals.
    • He meets his former teammate Meiko in Quarterfinals in a reverse sweep with his Draven (spinning axe)
    • He also meets his former teammate Doran (giant)
    • He finally meets Keria again, but as an enemy in the Grand Finals, with Faker, the undisputed GOAT and whom he went to the same high school with.
    • Deft's team is shown in their final picks in the final game of Worlds that led them to their trophy (The Trophy Deft has been chasing since 2013)
Trivia: 2022 League of Legends Worlds Championship Finals received Sports Emmys for "Esports Championship Coverage" for the Cinderella run made by this team. (twitter.com/sportsemmys/status/1660801508479471616?t=f5RiXWri5tpswsnXQ6XwQw&s=19)

Love your videos scru! To add some context to the video itself, it's telling the story of a player named Deft who's been at the top or near the top of the game for the last decade, but unfortunately he was always kind of really unlucky in his career. Many of his teams either choked, had something unfortunate happen at the wrong time, or just was barely not good enough to win the championship. Most of the video showcases his career with his different teams, and their moments of failure. Then in the end sequence we see his 2022 team, DRX rise from the bottom to fight through the world championship and Deft has to take out my of his own former teammates to reach the end. The guy who he was standing over was the same guy who saved him earlier in the video with the shield, but they are now on different teams and had to play against each other. It's a really epic story of one of the games best players, and truly one of it's most hard done by in terms of trophies won for how GOOD he actually has been.

    • @Stryzekn
      @Stryzekn 7 месяцев назад

To add to this, no World championship run in League of Legends will ever look like Deft and DRX's run from 2022 ever again, only the second ever reverse sweep in worlds and it happens in the Semi Finals, they started in Play-ins stage, first team ever from play ins stage to make to Finals(and i believe semi finals) and the first team ever to win the world championship starting from Play in's as their region's **4th** Seed team, and no run will ever have the Legends and Story behind it the way 2022 worlds did Keria(the guy the the shield and who was down being aimed at at the end) once said to Deft "Ill get you to worlds, ill win you a world championship" and when Deft is finally in the finals, its against Keria, and also, his former Classmate, Faker who they both debuted in league around the same time.

Caedrel(one of the casters in the LEC rap battles you reacted to before) did a rap song about his favourite player TheShy titled
"THESHY IS BACK | WORLDS 2023 | CAEDREL FT. REGAN |". Its pretty league specifc tho although its cool how he improved himself from the rap battle video. Would be cool seeing your reaction to that.
Cant wait for the swiss stage of the world championships.

The story is about deft. He went to the same school as faker as a kid. Faker is widely regarded as the goat of league, so Deft was constantly in his shadow. Faker basically was king of league right when he started and dominated everyone for years. Deft had gotten first place at MSI (mid season international tournament) Lck (korean pro league) and LPL (Chinese pro league), but never could win worlds. He was very good, but seen as someone who just couldn’t cut it at worlds.
He’s shown losing to an eu player named Rekkles at worlds, and losing to a korean player named Showmaker at worlds. The showmaker loss was shown as being more devastating to deft, because that series wasn’t close. I think it’s also when a lot of people started losing almost all faith Deft would ever win worlds. In 2022, Deft seriously considered retiring. His team got into worlds as the 4th seed of korea. Basically they were seeded as the weakest team from Korea. They ran the gauntlet all the way from play ins to world finals. Deft overcame many former opponents and teammates to make it to finals against Faker. They won in game 5 and Deft finally got the worlds 1st place that eluded him for years. It was poetic justice too that he got it against the person who’s shadow he’d been stuck in. It was basically a stereotypical underdog story you see in movies, but it actually happened in real life. The teammate who jumped in front of him against showmaker is one of his opponents at the very end too.
