"Why am I excited for an anime character ?" This guy is Deft, and like everyone in this music clip, is a real life pro player of League of Legends !!
This MV showing every loss he had threw these 10 last years, until taking his revenge and finally winning against the guy he never beaten since studying with him at school.
Last years, Deft and his team won at the finale against this particular guy called Faker. And Riot Games Studios wanted to make it the story of this year League of Legends Worlds 2023 Main Theme. Each years there's a theme song and Newjeans was chosen for the 2023 edition who take place in Seoul (Korea).
NewJeans 100% gonna do a live performance this year at the Finale opening ceremony next month, so, be ready for it, it's gonna be insane.
Btw, League of Legends Worlds Championship is the biggest electronic-sports events in the worlds. If you're not aware of that, you'll sure be surprise. Don't miss the opening event man :)
I love how deep they made the video and it wasn't just some random fight scenes which is alright I guess but imagine being Deft having his career highlight being made into a top tier animation, would be an insane feeling.
it's okay to be excited for him! lol he's an actual pro league player, not just an animation. everyone in the video is a real life pro player and it follows his journey to his win at worlds last year. every loss in the mv is an actual loss he had against those other players. it's so hype. Riot games is an undercover record label 100% lol even their songs they have for valorant are dope too. crazy good music to come out of just game developers.

This is what we call "Worlds Anthem", it's a very awaited song every year. Riot (company behind League of Legends) has been making these songs every year before the League of Legends World's Championship featuring some cool artists in them. The music itself is made by their music team and some famous composers so the songs always have this kind of epic vibe. That's also why it doesn't sound like New Jeans at all, the featuring artist mainly stick to singing (most of the time).
If you really liked this one, you should DEFINITELY check some more. As some people said, these videos usually tell stories about previous World Championships and their main characters (people who succeded and were really close to it). You won't get the reference ofc but with this in mind, you should get the vibe the video is trying to give. My personal recommendations are RISE>Burn it all down>Phoenix>Legens Never Die>the rest.

So just for context League of Legends holds a yearly world championship for the best players in the world who are organised into teams based on their location (Europe, America, Korea, China being the top 4) and these tournaments have huge support and sponsors last year the whole show was ran by Lil Nas. These players compete for tens of millions of dollars with the average prize pool being 20M.
It's the largest e-sport in the world and has millions of fans.
This video is following the journey of a Korean carry player who has never won the world championship and the video represents all of the times he's been defeated in the world championship and then finally last year his team (DRX) overcame their biggest rivals in T1 to win the world championship and Deft (the main character) was finally able to lift his first world trophy.
I am wondering how they will perform live on stage. This is the highest note song so far they ever sing as a group. Can’t wait to see them sing live because this is top 5 of LoL World Anthem so far.

worlds is like the playoffs leading into the championship match for League of Legends btw, w reaction as always
This is cool because its based on the under dog team DRX that won in 2022 Deft was there leader for League of Legends. Also it could be said it definitely felt like a fitting song for T1 who won the worlds last year who were defeated in 2022 by DRX and were not even counted to make it into the worlds because they were playing poorly then Faker T1 leader was out for a bit from injury and the team was falling apart with so many losses. Then they dug deep faker was able to come back and played like the champions they are and owned the rift and the rest is history haha but they were huge underdogs that ended up playing through the pressure of being South Koreas only chance to win the worlds the other 4 teams were from China. Anyway I'm now rambling haha but New Jeans played this song live at the worlds finals before the games started it was a great show.
The song lyrics also follows deft from a local tourney to winning worlds. They go from opening the church watch the gods, then is your name in the rafters, and they say "welcome to the big show" he went from local tourneys to Pro regions, and then finally Meiko his former team mate after he goes up on the elevator he welcomes him to the greatest stage, and then they say hes unbreakable.

I've played maybe 10 minutes og League in my life, but I keep up with their animations and music projects, because they really don't hold back. Incredible productions every time. Fingers crossed we get you on some K/DA!
Riot Games pretty much never misses with their music production. Whether it be rap, k-pop, metal or anything else. For metal check out Pentakill. For k-pop check out KDA and Heartsteel. The soundtrack for Arcane has a bunch of rap in it. Just check out anything League of Legends music related. Same goes for Valorant and the songs they do for the championship of that game. When it comes to music RIOT DOES NOT MISS!

well this is an anthem for LoL world tournaments 2023, so basically this isn't newjeans song. and if an event try to collaborate with a singer for their theme songs, they usually request a song to be made in a certain theme. or maybe they already have the songs and ask the singer to sing it. so that's why this song feels so much different than the usual newjeans song.

@TeddyGreyOnStuff please for the love god, anything that is of Pentakill, very few people seems to recommend Pentakill but they are great. Do Lightbringer and the acustic version Lightbringer back to back, they are great for introduction to the band in my opinion since they are fan favorites.

I have no idea, but I would definitely say this song has been produced by Riot, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t sound like the usual NewJeans, but it actually sounds like the usual Worlds’ song of every year 😁

If you really wanna get exited for an animated character in a gaming music video, watch "Ticking Away ft. bbno$". The video is so worth a watch because of how much effort and love went into making it. "Ticking Away" is the "worlds" anthem btw. for riot games other popular game Valorant. So the shooter by the company of league of legends
