@@Dudenamedtay Just to add to that, Endurance is the stat that increases how much you can carry. There's four levels of encumbrance. Fat roll happens when you're over 70% of your equip load. Light is under 30%, medium is in-between. If you go over 100%, you can't roll at all. Medium is where you want to be, nice balance of mobility and protection, so if you can't raise the Endurance stat or equip an item to increase your Equip Load, take gear off or swap to something lighter so you can roll better.

Tips- hold the dodge/roll button while moving to sprint. Check your equipment load. If it says heavy, change/remove some armor to make it medium. This effects your rolls and invincibility frames. Try different weapons when you find them. Use jumping heavy attacks when possible to break the enemy poise. Get the repost by using light attack on the glowing portion. The spectral steed ring can be used to summon your horse. Makes life easier.

If you want a description of the stats and how they work. You can open up your stats window and hit the options button, and it will allow you to get in depth Information on the stats. Also, read the description on every item as some of them have passive effects. Such as a piece of armor giving you a boost in a stat. Otherwise, have fun and good luck. 👍

    Great content my man 👌
    A few tips for beginners:
    - when leveling up at sites of grace, start with vigor (= health points)
    - holding down the dodge button will make you run faster
    - buy a torch from Santa
    - smithing stones are used to upgrade your weapon & make it deal more damage, you can use them at the blacksmith at Roundtable Hold (bottom left corner of map)
    - hitting strong attack after blocking with a shield will deal a strong counter attack
    - It's an open world, if something is too hard, go somewhere else and come back later when more leveled up & stronger
    - have fun 😁

Dude your editing and commentary are on point! I thought I was watching someone with a much bigger audience before I looked at subscriber count and views. You're doing great! A few tips from someone with like 500 hours in this game and thousands of hours in prior souls titles:
    1. In Elden Ring, if something feels too hard, you almost always can turn around and explore elsewhere to get stronger before coming back. The game encourages that and you'll have a lot more fun if you aren't slamming your head against a wall for hours.
    2. There's no wrong way to play! Absolutely nothing wrong with using summons or overpowered weapons, the game is hard no matter what. A lot of people enjoy the challenge of staying away from summons and cheese-y weapons, but that doesn't mean you have to if you have more fun playing a different way.
    3. Definitely level up, from how you've been playing it seems like you might enjoy strength build playstyle, so leveling endurance, vigor, and strength and using a big weapon is a good bet for you.
    4. On an xbox controller, you can press X on an item in your inventory to see more details about it. On weapons, that will show you the stat requirements needed to wield it, as well as the scaling. Scaling is basically a damage increase that a weapon gets based on your stats, it goes through grades. E, D, C, B, A, and S, E being the worst, S being the best. Increasing a stat that a weapon has good scaling in will increase the damage a lot.
    5. You should probably unequip some gear so that your equip load (on the right side of your gear menu) is at medium. It'll make your rolls a lot more effective for avoiding attacks, and lets you run a bit faster. Heavy load makes the game a lot harder to play without man upsides.
Keep it up dude, you got yourself a subscriber and I'm hyped for the next part of the playthrough!

some tips! use summons. do not listen to what dudebro elitists want to scream about how it's "cheating". you're new and if you're struggling with a fight, summons at this level wont do a ton of damage but they can take the heat off of you at least. i like to equip mine on the top right side of the menu with the horse for easy access
this is an open world soulslike game, which means you will come into contact with field bosses and areas that are far above your level. when in doubt, just run and they'll eventually lose interest in you. even in dungeons, sometimes it's best to just run through everything, loot as much as you can, complete the lever puzzle for the door, and then just either die or make it back to the grace point
fat rolling is because you're wearing too much equipment. you can check that in your status menu to see "heavy load". a medium or light load is best. medium is like average but light is when you need fast movement. im not joking when i say that armor doesn't do much in these games. it's far better to just not get hit overall than to try to minmax how much defence stats you have. hence why medium or even light loads are key
do not spam roll. people quit this game because they think spam rolling gives them infinite s (invincibility frames) and then they cry when they die. you want to time a roll/dodge just as an attack is coming down to hit you. compared to bloodborne and ds3, elden ring is fairly lenient with the timing imo
40:26 that noise is a stance break and congrats you did a crit hit! you can find the spots to crit hit on if they're glowing or, if it's a humanoid creature, just their backside or head as they bend down. since you're using a shield, i just want to mention that you can parry humanoid (for the post part) creatures if you time a parry right. but your shield needs to have the skill "parry" on it because otherwise it's just gonna do a shield bash. but yeah basically rolling is best for huge bosses like that instead of holding the shield up. it's kinda like if you have 500 hp but end up taking 480 damage with your shield up, that's still a ton of damage and thus you should avoid it by just rolling. you'll get the hang of the timing with a lighter equipment load
spells are fucking op in this game. much like with summons, do not listen to people who scream about how it's "cheating" to use spells. if you see a cool spell you might want to use, fuck it go for it. it's in the game for a reason and thus is a potential tool. but honestly, do the style of build you want and don't feel like you have to minmax yourself to hell and back. im level 150 in the dlc which might seem overleveled, except i have about 20 to 30 points in each stat (50 in vigor ofc) so it evens out. a bit of a "jack of all trades" build, if you will. and so many people have called my build terrible but it allows me to access tons of different weapons for each situation. so yeah play the game how you want, level how you want. the softcaps in this game are fairly lenient compared to dark souls where you could only put like 20 levels into your health before the return stats back for the cost of souls became horrible. meanwhile it's 60 for vigor in elden ring
i only just realized how long ive been rambling but im honestly hyped to see a new person genuinely play for the first time with zero experience. welcome!

well that's some determination! :D imagine beating a hidden mid game boss (tree spirit) as your first boss, while fat rolling, with no levels, no sprint button, no horse exploring and no clue at all - well played, but that's some next level challenge run you've done there. Not that it will stop you from dying so often, but it will feel a lot more fluid with a few adjustments :D
tip: try to read "major" items or "unusual looking" items (weapons, armor and their skills in general) through the inventory. you can view more details (hidden effects, attributes, lore, etc.) by pressing the square button (on ps5 controller) while hovering over items.
    general tip: always medium or light equip load, never heavy; watch necessary attributes needed for weapons (2handing lets you increase your strength by 50%, so you can wield e.g. 30 strength weapons with only 20 strength leveled while 2handing) and have fun exploring - there is (almost) no corner of this world where you won't find a hidden item, cave, chest, npc, etc.;
special tip: intelligence = sorcery, faith = buffs and elemental type magic, arcane = assassin type style with bleeds and status effects, dexterity = "usually" faster weapons, can pair well with arcane and in some cases intelligence, strength = heavy and slow hitters e.g. colossal weapons and can pair well with faith type magic. endurance = your stamina and equip load, vigor = your HP-pool. Other than a lot of Vigor and a few points in Endurance, I recommend not spreading your stats, but choosing one of the attributes above to invest into. you can change it later on in the game. have fun

Love being able to experience ER for the first time again victoriously. You got great energy dude and I'm looking forward to the rest of your journey!
A couple tips that people will have already mentioned:
    1. Whenever you have enough runes to level up just fast travel to a site of grace and do it. Focus on Vigor (Health), Endurance (Stamina i.e. the amount of times you can roll and swing your weapon, and how heavy your equipment can be, try not to ever have a heavy load you don't wanna fat roll), Strength (if you wanna wield heavy weapons) or Dexterity (if you prefer light, faster weapons). If you want to do sorcery then do Dexterity and Intelligence.
    2. Equip your Spectral Steed Whistle to one of your pouches. Then you can just hold down Triangle (or Y) and press the direction of whatever pouch you equipped it to to summon it. It'll make traversing the map so much easier and quicker!
    3. From the start if you go south until you find a bunch of stone worm looking things and interact with what they're pointing towards you'll fight a boss. Hey man I recommend watching some videos about how to start off in Elden Ring. I recently started playing and a virgin to souls games just like you. RUclips videos really helped get me on the right path to levelling and killing the correct bosses. Elden Ring is such a vague game, it doesnt tell you how to do anything or where to go. So dont be afraid to seek some help from more adept players. In a game like this its defo needed. Great video! Earned my sub.

An absolute pro tip tip for these (fire)-pillars like 20:28 usually you can attack with any weapon but if you stumbe upon margits or mohgs shackles (you can buy them from patches) you can use them at really large distances "allmost" anywhere in the area an it will affect the pillars and also reveal all hidden walls.

@@Dudenamedtay There is a character you might meet "Patches" if you search the map. I am a fan of exploring every inch of a map to discover all the secrets.
He sells items you can use to do stuff. One is the shakkle. I thought you can only use it on a Boss. Never had to use it tho as i was always overleveled.
There are hidden paths in ruins and dungeons mainly. That if you roll into them or attack them will vanish and reveal the path behind them. Like holographic walls or floors or so. Many are marked by player comments on the floor but many are also fake ;D.

Tips. Hold the button you use to roll /dodge...it allows you to sprint, but drains stamina if in combat.
Kill some trash mobs to get runes...you'll need them and smithing stones to level up your weapons.
You didn't grab the ability to put ashes of war on your weapons. Go back to Gatefront Ruins, in a cellar guarded by the soldiers with wolves is the item you need to enable ashes of war.
Use your horse. Look at control menu to see how to set spectral steed whistle into your pouch or item roll so you can quickly summon your horse.
You need the horse to access some parts of the game.
You're doing fine in the will to win department, but you're making yourself frustrated as a result. Exit that dungeon, go level up your weapons, then come back.
You ARE a caster. You have incantations. Use your finger seal to use spells. Uou can get more incantations, offensive, defensive, and heals at Roundtable hold. You can also use Smithing stones to level up your finger seal to increase your incantation scaling /damage.
Don't givebup. The game provides everything you need as a noob to cruise through it. The key is exploration.
I feel your pain. Elden Ring was my first experience with Souls games as well.
I absolutely loved it once i figured it out, but like you, I was getting frustrated early.
Good job on taking the Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Also I wouldn’t worry about the content being repetitive honestly. Most people who watch others play these kinda games would prefer to see how much blood sweat and tears they put into challenges and the emotional journey that comes with it, rather than the actual content of the game itself.

Holding the circle button (your roll) will make your character run. Using the spectral steed whistle will summon your horse -- you can find it in your items, but I would highly suggest making it a shortcut like your flasks and stuff.
Upgrade vigor to 50 (by endgame, but always keep this one growing -- it's your HP)
Mind is whatever -- it's the blue bar for weapon skills and magic.
Upgrade Endurance to 30 eventually (controls green stamina bar, but also how heavy your armor can be -- the higher the stat, the heavier the armor you can wear and still fast roll -- right now you were fat rolling which is generally considered bad since you get less invincibility and it takes longer)
All the other stats depend on what weapon you want to use. If you want to play someone who uses giant weapons and heavy shields, do strength. If you like katanas, bows, rapiers and other "finesse" weapons, go dex. Intelligence is for casting spells, and Faith is for casting incantations. Spells need a staff to use, and are very diverse....you can summon magic swords, magic shields, and even cast a kamehameha. Incantations (faith) needs a talisman to cast and is equally versatile. You can throw boulders, summon lightning bolts, create firestorms or use holy light to kill enemies.
Arcane is like the "luck" stat in other RPGs. It increases item discovery, but also increases the amount of status buildup on your enemies. Elden Ring has a VERY popular mechanic called "bleed" where once an enemy or boss is hit enough with a weapon that has bleed buildup, they'll take a huge burst of damage that is based on their overall life (I think it's like...15 percent of their total life.) High arcane means this procs more often. Overall, you don't need arcane unless you are going for a status build that uses poison or bleed.
If you use a lot of magic or incantations, I'd recommend probably like...20 in mind, but generally you can kind of ignore it until you need it. Some people limit their build to level 150 for PvP, but if you don't care about that, you could honestly level as much as you want. I think I remember Randy Orton saying his character was level 500 or something by the time he beat it lmao.

    Some tips:
HOLD DODGE TO RUN AND CLIMB LADDERS FASTER
Upgrade your weapons and be mindful of the scaling of your weapon. If it has a C scaling in strength and D in Dexterity, you'll get more out of leveling your strength stat.
The game is trying to teach you to gauge when you should just leave and come back later. If you don't see yellow damage in the Healthbar when hitting a boss with your light attack, you probably aren't ready for them. If you spend more than an hour on a boss don't be afraid to google what level you should be at for them but also early game weapon upgrades are a ton of help.
Pump up your vigor, your endgame goal should be 60, obviously don't ONLY level vigor but it's the most important thing right now.
    Play with your equipment.
Check your equipment and the bottom right for your weight. It controls your dodges and invisibility frames when dodging. You don't wanna be over medium load. All weapons talismans and armor contribute to your weight.
Your horse is an item and you equip it similar to your flask. Spectral steed whistle. I put it in my pouch for quick access but you could equip it in the same spot as your flasks.
Your pouch is another quick items thing. You hold X on ps5 for it then use the direction buttons to choose the item. I think it could also be hold triangle or Y. Go to your menu and look at the right side to see what's equipped in your pouch. Right above gestures.
In settings make sure your mark new items and new items tab is turned on.
Go back to Santa and pass time at the grace to night.

something really important in elden ring and just all dark souls games is the leveling system which is pretty overwhelming for new players. put simply there are many different attributes that you can upgrade via the graces with the runes you get from killing any enemy or boss (you will lose all your runes if you fail to collect them from where you previously died before dying again). for now i would recommend upgrading vigor to start as it just increases your health but other attributes can be just as important depending on what type of build you are going for (magic, strength, ect.) every time you upgrade one of these attributes the amount of runes it takes to upgrade something increases(also some weapons take certain attributes you must meet to be able to effectively wield it which you can see in the weapons description). Another super important thing is that you can also upgrade your weapon which you can do using "smithing stones" or "somber smithing stones" (depending on the weapon) which you can find hidden around the map. you can take these stones to the roundtable hold (the place you were teleported to by melina where nothing attacks you) and by using the correct stones (every time you upgrade your weapon you need a different type of stone (smithing stone(1) smithing stone (2) ect.)) you can bring them to the black smith and use them along with runes to upgrade your weapon to make it do more damage.(this can be done with any weapon in the game but there are only a limited amount of the higher level smithing stones located around the map). also you can find golden seeds around the map that you can use at a grace to get more total flasks and you can allocate which of your flasks you want to heal you and which ones you want to restore FP (fp is used if you use magic or a weapons special move(special move is done by holding down the right trigger and then pressing one of the left triggers)). oh yea and that ring that melina gave you spawns a horse that you can use to travel around the map much faster. you can equip the horse by pressing the menu button and then looking at the "pouch" inventory on the right side of your screen and allocating the "Spectral steed whistle" to one of those spots which you can then use by holding down y and then selecting the direction on the d pad that matches to where it shows up in the bottom left. and one last thing is that the graces have a golden beam that shoots out of them that points in the direction of the next grace on the intended path with the mandatory bosses (the boss you killed is pretty difficult and completely optional). theres alot of other stuff that i have probably missed but i hope this helps (sorry for yapping so much lol)
(and i know the other guy said this but you can run by holding B)

You were spot on saying how small and weak your character is in this world. You got the struggle™️ all new players experience. If you see an item on the bottom of a cliff or high up on a ledge, there is some way around to get to it. The game communicates many things through the loot it gives you. Read item descriptions and make a mental note to follow the loot. Of course, you should still always be vigilant. Loot can also be the tell-tale sign of an enemy ambush. My rule of thumb: As long as you keep finding loot, you're going the right direction. This applies to a lot of games, but this game takes the concept rather seriously

  • @TheLastGarou
    @TheLastGarou 2 месяца назад

The first rule of Souls games is "Patience."
The more stressed you get, the harder you rage, the more mistakes you'll make.
The enemies are designed to punish you if you panic, so calm is going to be your best friend.
Every Boss has a lesson to teach you. Learn well, and your foes will fall like wheat to a scythe.
I generally start with Tank builds, because it's easier to learn attack patterns when you can survive making more than one mistake. So Vigor is going to be a leveling priority early on. 40 Vigor is a good point to aim for as a final target, but most players (especially melee builds) go for 50 or more eventually.
I also find it useful to always have some kind of ranged option available. Because even if it doesn't do much damage, it's surprising how often you can make a fight easier by pulling one guy's attention with a thrown knife.
Which brings me to my next point: Aggro Management.
It's ALWAYS safer to fight one opponent at a time, and it's all too easy to get swarmed under by multiple enemies.
Try out everything you think seems cool and don't be afraid to employ anything you think will give you an advantage. There is no "wrong" way to play as long as you're enjoying yourself. Save "Challenge" runs for later on when you feel more comfortable with the game systems.
The break points for Equipment Load are

Welcome to Elden Ring, good luck on your journey! Just know that you do not have to lock in on a boss that's overwhelming -- Elden Ring gives you a lot of directions to go and a lot of ways to get stronger. Especially for your first time, everything goes, the point is to achieve victory, not to suffer. Level up, find better gear, suss out weaknesses, bring in a spirit summon. Then come back and punish the boss that gave you trouble. Save the challenge run stuff for when you're ready for a second playthrough.
