    I recently made this for my family and they LOVED it! Not once person had a single noodle left on their plate including myself. I served it with fresh french bread, slathered it with garlic butter and toasted it in the oven. This meal was delicious! Thank you Laura!

    I followed your recipe exactly and it was absolutely delicious! The penne tasted better than anything I have ever eaten at a restaurant! I cooked this dish for a family bbq and it was the best meal!! My family kept adding more and more to their plates, even the kids couldn't get enough! I cooked the sauce a few hours earlier and let it simmer, and wow.. that really made a huge difference for all the flavors to settle. I cooked the pasta right before serving and reheated the sauce! BEST RECIPE EVER !! Thank you!

    I didn't have any heavy cream so I used cream cheese instead and it was delicious! It gives off the same texture with extra flavor! it's a very good alternative, you should give it a try you would love it!

      I didn't try the vodka sauce yet, but i made a sauce with tomatos, onions and olives recently and also added cream cheese instead of heavy cream, I Loved it!

    I cooked this recipe for me and my parents for dinner tonight, and we all loved it! It was so delicious, and they both said that the vodka made it super special!
    Thanks so much :)

    Why do people wanna substitute the vodka, that's the second most important ingredient next to the tomatoes. It won't have the alcohol flavor because its cooked off but what it does is enhance the tomato flavor which only alcohol can do.

      So true about the alcohol.

    Laura, I made this today and it was outstanding! I compared you're recipe to the one on Oprah's where they used more vodka and cream and didn't cook as long and used chicken stock. I made your's exactly as stated and used the cooking times and it was the greatest thing I've tasted in a while and yes I bought the $15 imported cheese makes the difference & good vodka, grey goose Thank you so much for sharing-really appreciate it

    This is absolutely delicious! I was fortunate to find Contadina crushed tomatoes and it made a big difference as other brands tend to be too tangy, I'm sure there are many good brands- but is hard to find them in my area. Lesson learned, will spend a few extra cents for the quality.

    From what I understand the reason to let the vodka reduce is simply to cook of the alcohol. Also it takes away some of that very hard flavor of liquer and still allows you to take advantage of the properties in liquer, in this case Vodka, that intensify the flavor in the sauce that your tongue would not normally be able to taste.

      there really isnt a use to use the water. the vodka is for 2 reasons: certain flavors in tomatoes are only brought out with alc, and to deglaze the pan. putting water in doesn't really do anything, so you better just save time thickening as that's extra water that needs to evaporate.

    • @TheBeccaFashionVlogs
      @TheBeccaFashionVlogs 10 лет назад +6

      Why did you add water instead of vodka? The alcohol gets evaporated through the cooking process.
