It is a simple little game when it’s a country versus a country, or if you’re subjugating an entire race of people, but it’s far more complicated when it’s another human being.
To dehumanize an abuser is to defend their actions, because it rejects the idea that any human being can be bad enough to do what they did. If you make them out to be inhuman, you’ve failed and you’ve ultimately absolved that PERSON of THEIR sin. Bad people exist, horrible monsters exist, but you can’t beat around the bush and call them inhuman. They are. That’s the part you need to worry about.

I truly feel for these guys, my mum is an abusive alcoholic. It’s hard to explain to people that yes, my mum is still alive, but no, she’s not here anymore. Like she is so mentally ill, who she used to be is completely gone and consumed by alcoholism and narcissism. Good parent story to balance out: when my mom got Covid and couldn’t cook dinner for my brother and dad, my dad asked for my help over the phone for tips on cooking for her and my younger brother. He could have just ordered in, but he wanted them to have a home cooked meal.
Seeing all this nonsense makes me very happy with the parents I have and the respect and understanding they give me and my brother. I feel so lucky and so bad for these people at the same time lol
