    Today Luke is previewing the Gregory Baltoro 65 Pack.
    ….
    Link Amazon : www.amazon.com...
    Link Gregory : gregorypacks.co...
    Cost : Retail is $300 but prices will vary depending on where you look and what size that you get. I purchased my pack from Amazon for $266
    Colors : This pack is available in numerous colors including navy blue, shadow black which I have, and red.
    Sizes : Small Medium Large depending on your torso length. Gregory has a size chart on their web site to help out if you have any questions in regards to sizes.
    Considered to be one of the best backpacks ever made by many it is known for being a weight carrier.
    Designed to carry loads over 60lbs!
    Supreme comfort and advanced performance make the Baltoro 65 ideal for weekend warriors and demanding users alike.
    Articulating shoulder straps. This backpack’s secret sauce combines trail-dominating Response A3 suspension technology with 65 liters of capacity, giving it dynamic load balancing in tough terrain plus a trim design that feels perfectly sized for long winter weekends, warm-weather multi-stagers, and shorter backcountry excursions.
    • Vented, formed back panel features LifeSpan foam & silicone lumbar grip zone
    • LumbarTune removable 10mm insert offers user-customizable contouring for a precise backpanel fit
    • QuickSwap 3D interchangeable pre-curved LifeSpan EVA foam harness & hipbelt in multiple sizes to precisely fit each body
    • SideKick ultra-light, removable daypack doubles as hanging reservoir sleeve
    • Included removable raincover stowes in its own zippered pocket
    • Top-loading design with front U-zip panel access
    • Double Barrel lid design with dual zippered pockets on top and security pocket underneath
    •SideWinder stowable ergonomic bottle holster
    • WeatherShield PU-coated hipbelt accessory pocket with YKK AquaGuard® zipper
    • Girth-hitched compression MultiStraps on bottom double as hipbelt for SideKick daypack
    • Dual ice axe loops and upper shock locks for ice tool and trekking pole attachment
    • Weight: 5.5 lbs. This updated version is lighter weight than the previous version but it is still heavy.
    completely detachable "side-kick" hydration backpack that doubles as a water bladder holster. This is actually a pretty functional little pack on its own that weighs very little
    Body Dimensions: 25.2" x 15.0" x 9.5"
    Pockets
    2 lid, 1 front, 2 side, 2 hip belt, 1 hideaway water bottle
    Body: 210D Nylon, 300D Nylon
    Base: 630D High-Density Nylon
    Response AFS, aluminum stay
    LifeSpan EVA foam
    Small: 3722 cu in
    Medium: 3966 cu in
    Large: 4410 cu in
    Small: 4 lb 13 oz
    Medium: 5 lb 1 oz
    Large: 5 lb 3 oz
    Small: 16"-18"
    Medium:18"-20"
    Large: 20"-22"
    Impressions so far :
    This pack is heavier than most packs of this size and capacity.
    The frame is very rigid; it’s obvious that this pack is meant to carry heavier loads.
    Dual zipper lid pockets are awesome
    Very impressive lower back support.
    Very burly suspension

    This is my favorite bag. I can’t tell you how amazingly comfortable this one is. If you don’t have one get this one! The bigger the better!

    I have carried 50+ pounds in it with my Scout Troop. You cant feel the weight. Most comfortable pack I have ever owned! Like to see how you like when you push it hard on a multi-day hike. Also you would not believe how much the day pack can carry. I was hauling a medic kit and water for my Troop for about 5 miles with about 20 pounds of gear with no issues. Love this pack!

      TheOutdoorGearReview I want to get it so bad. I have a Deuter 35 liter pack, looking for a 50+ liter pack moving forward. I'll think about this more as I grow. As I am only a SMALL 13 year old, I think for now I'll go with the Teton Sports Scout 3400 pack. All I need is my Jääkäripuuko and I'll be set. I already have a 15 degree rated sleeping bag, Leatherman Rebar, and Fenix UC35. I also have put together a simple IFAK, with some additional survival gear. I would like to thank you again for all your engagement in the community.

    Luke,
    I like the fact that you 'prefaced' your review with the disclaimer that you had not yet had the opportunity to fully test this pack. It seems to me that many reviews can be misleading that way. Good for you for not being one of those. 👍🏻

    I have Gregory's Z65. When it came time for a bigger winter pack, I wanted to get another Gregory. I looked at other brands and tried them on and fought the temptations of the Osprey 65, but once I put on the Baltoro 65, I knew that was "the one". I'd get the Baltoro 75 though since I already have a 65L pack. For extreme winter camping & hunting loadouts, I use the USMC FILBE. The Gregory Baltoro 75 is the next pack on my list for sure. It's be nice if they came out with one in OD Green or Brown next year. I hit the Appalachian Trail with my Z65 with 50 pounds in it. It felt like 30lbs. Incredible suspension. Very comfortable.

      TheOutdoorGearReview every time I've used it I usually have anywhere between 40-50lbs and I feel as thought it can do more than that with ease but I don't think I'd go that much. It's a really great pack that seems super durable. I hope you can do a trip with it and do more of a detailed review on this pack. Take care and all the best!

    I have the earlier version Baltoro 65.. The zipper pulls are robust and super easy to zip. Was packing out (about 40Lb) on a very wet day on rolling/pitching rocky and root strewn forest trail and loved the way my pack hugged my back, not shifting on me. If my pack had shifted it would have been very unpleasant. The waist belt pockets are a disappointment though on my older version..

I'm a bit confused, because according to Gregory's size chart I need large one, but I searched little and it seams that lot of people have fitting problem. I think to get medium one. Anny suggests?

    How do you like it compared to the Osprey Atmos with its anti-gravity system? They both look like they're pretty comfortable.

    • @TheOutdoorGearReview
      @TheOutdoorGearReview  7 лет назад +4

      Both are great packs but so far with my testing I would go with the Atmos as the comfort is off the charts with that one. If you are hauling some serious weight though, go with the Gregory. - Luke

    • @msilverhammer
      @msilverhammer 7 лет назад +1

      Osprey has moved on, or perhaps up from the Osprey Atmos pack, as it seems that their new technology and innovations have made it somewhat obsolete!
      Wow, backpacks are now becoming like computers, other electronics, automobiles, and other modern technology that quickly becomes obsolete, due to advancing design technologies and innovations in products from the manufacturers!
      Check out the new Osprey Aether AG (Anti-Gravity) backpack for men, or the Osprey Ariel AG for women.
      The Aether/Ariel backpack was named as Outside Magazine's gear of the year for 2017, if that means anything to you.
      www.ospreypacks.com/us/en/series/technical-packs/aether-ariel-landing
      THis means that you will probably be able to get better deals on the now obsolete Osprey Atmos backpacks!

    • @Wordsmyth8
      @Wordsmyth8 7 лет назад

      Actually Msilverhammer, the women's pack that paralleled the men's Atmos was called the Aura. I don't see how you could get much more comfortable than that, but alas, it was much too small for me so I had to send it back. I checked out your link to the Ariel, but it says that it's a mountaineering pack.

    • @SDMTB14
      @SDMTB14 7 лет назад

      Msilverhammer. The Atmos obsolete?! What are you inhaling? It has their latest Anti Gravity technology, in fact they lauched a "new" model for 2018 and it is basically the same pack with a few improvements here and there.

    • @rms8698
      @rms8698 6 лет назад

      I would get either Osprey Xenith or Gregory Baltoro. Aether is between Atmos and Xenith. As of today, I ended up getting Baltoro 85L medium 2018 version.

    About 5 years ago you did a review of the Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack and said it was an amazing pack but you said you have only used it once. That was 5 years ago and you have not done anymore reviews on it. I have noticed that you have done that on several pieces of gear where you just got the gear and said it was great but have not tested it yet and then we never hear anything more about the gear. This is the reason i have dropped your channel because i think you are full of crap. If you say you are going to test it out more and let us know what you think of the gear, then do it or otherwise I'm going to think you are a fraud. I will be willing to bet you will probably ignore what i have said in this comment.
