    I bought the Baltoro 75. The 65 was just a bit small for winter trips. The fit on this pack is incredible. It’s like driving a sports car on the trail.

      Hi and thank you for watching! Glad you like the pack. The Baltoro is certainly the Ferrari of backpacks!

    Great review. I also appreciate the wacky sense of humor such as "tickling" the bottom of the pack to demonstrate the material density, and opening the center panel and "drumming" the contents inside 😂 Is this guy a Saggitarius, or what?

    How does this compare to the Atmos 65? I just got a Baltoro 65 and it fits good but I’m second guessing myself because the Atmos 50 I tried on fit amazingly.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад +5

      Thanks for your question. The Baltoro packs can handle more weight than the Atmos 65. If you plan to carry more than 40 pounds regularly, we'd recommend sticking with the Baltoro. If you plan to carry 40 pounds or less most of the time, and if the Atmos 65 felt like a better fit, you may want to consider trying on the Atmos 65. The features and pockets are also a bit different, so we'd recommend comparing and contrasting the features in addition to the load capacity. Please feel free to contact our Gear Specialists to talk about this more in depth!

    I ordered this one but 2020 version. I need for 3 days wild camping backpack with ability take camera icu. I chose this one cuz of U shape zipper for easier access for camera gear. I feel Gregory is one step ahead of Ospray backpacks. I was in between osprey eather or Gregory baltoro. Lets see how this holds for my Future trips ✌️

    I have the Marmot trestles 0, is this backpack a good choice for that big sleeping bag?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  5 лет назад

      Definitely! A compression sack may be necessary to help the Trestles fit, as 0 Degree bags are a bit bulkier, but 65L is pretty ample space. Happy Trails!

    How did you double the sleeping pad straps as a waist belt for the daypack? I’m assuming you had to borrow a male clip from another strap on the pack. Genius idea!

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  4 года назад +2

      Actually Gregory designed the sleeping pad straps to have opposite side clips for this purpose. For example, the right side strap has a male end at the top, while the left side strap has a male end at the bottom. Genius!

    Thanks for another great review. Is the new version worth getting over the old version on sale ? Are the changes they made that much better ? Doesn't look like it, but what are your thoughts ? Thanks

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад +2

      Gregory made a few changes to the Baltoro. The front pocket is now a stretchy "dump" pocket rather than a zippered bellows pocket. They shaved some of the weight and made the back panel more breathable. If you found a really good deal on an older model, you should jump on it, but the newer version is certainly an upgrade!

      Hi Rama thanks for the question, boy that's a doozy. Every year both of these bags are awarded editors highest accolades on their merits. my advice to you would be to try them on and see which one best fit's you best. They're both packed full of super useful features and do an impressive job of loadbearing abilities.

    What’s everyone’s thoughts on sizing? I have heard a fair number of people suggest sizing down on packs in general. I tried a small/medium Aether out at REI and was surprised that it felt pretty comfortable (I’m 6’2” , 235 lb). I’m wondering if it would still feel good on an actual trek though.

    • @joeytouchstone7585

      I have this pack in a small. I'm 5'6" 160lbs, stockier wider body type. It fits perfectly. I regularly use it to haul 40+ of climbing gear and it feels secure and the suspension is great.
      I had an Osprey atmos and returned it after one trip. The REI employee who processed the return said he wasn't surprised, as usually Osprey packs more more comfortable for people with narrower hips.

    Is the new Katmai better than the Baltoro? Comparing both for a 12 day hike (TMB).

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  3 года назад +1

      The main difference is the FreeFloat 360 suspension system on the Katmai, which has a suspended trampoline-style mesh backpanel which hugs the body for a ventilated carry, and can carry up to 45 lbs. The Baltoro has a composite EVA foam backpanel with adjustable lumbar system, which is more firm and structured and can carry up to 50 lbs. most other features are comparable, so it depends on personal fit and comfort.

    The 2018 version seems to be a dark grey instead of black? (versus the prior versions which was black)

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад

      Gregory calls the color "Onyx Black". The texture of the fabric with bright studio lights bouncing off of it may make the pack look more grey than black. The older version had a more flat finish to the fabric, so that could be the difference you are seeing in color.

    I'm currently looking for a new pack and the Beltoro's currently one of the favourites, but the fact that there's "2018" written in the title makes me wonder... Is there a difference between this pack and Baltoros from previous years?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад +4

      We'd say the 2018 version has slightly cleaner aesthetics, different fabric on belt harness, more openings for ventilation on the back panel, and the pockets are better balanced. Thanks for watching!

    aether 60 ag or beltoro 65 ? which one is better for 2 weeks backpacking .

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 лет назад

      Those two packs are compared a lot. They are similar as far as function, durability and weight capacity. The decision for most backpackers comes down to fit. We find the Baltoro fits a lot of folks really well and you can order custom components for the perfect fit. The Aether has a more breathable back panel, however, so if you will be hiking in warmer climates the Aether may be more comfortable.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  2 года назад

      Hi there! The Baltoro 65 sizes will fit torso measurements as follows: Small: 16" - 18", Medium: 18" - 20", and Large: 20" - 22". Thanks for watching!

    • @Im_With_Stupid
      @Im_With_Stupid 9 месяцев назад

      A year late but for other's seeing this video and wondering the same thing, the Deva is the women's specific version of the Baltoro. Same pack, just built smaller and with a little less volume. The pack has been updated with a redesigned suspension since this video was made, but it still has a Deva counterpart.
      As of right now (1-2-24), Enwild has these older models of both the Baltoro and Deva on closeout for very good prices. One could argue they're better than the new version because they include a raincover and the Sidekick hydration sleeve/day pack. The new model has shrinkflated these away and you have to buy them separately on top of a $30 increase in the price of the pack.

    • @Enwild

      This backpack is likely going to be too large as a carry-on. The dimensions are about 30" x 13" x 13". Check with your airline to be sure. Good luck!
