That was an exploding barbed wire death match. Instead of the ropes connecting the turnbuckles, it is connected by barbed wire and the barbed wires creates some explosion everytime you touch it. The match where the neck of the wrestlers were tied with the chain was a dog collar match. Dog collar match is an old school hardcore match. And rusev's name in aew is miro pronounced as "meero".

Sting is having a bit of a renaissance right now. Still putting on banger matches and he is diving off of the highest places he can find. It's honestly crazy how good of a run he is having.
7:38 that clip was from one of the first events in AEW history, Moxley had the eyepatch because the previous week Chris Jericho offered him a car to join the Inner Circle, when he refused, Jericho attacked his eye with the key to the car.
I cringe when I watch old ECW and WWF matches and see so many unprotected shots. It's no wonder guys like Sabu and Sandman can barely formulate a sentence on Twitter.
Yeah I Mean look What Happened To Poor Chris Benoit He Got So Much Brain Damage. We Will Never Know For Sure If He Would Have Done The Things He Did If He Didn't Have Any Brain Damage Period.
"That man is a barrel." That's one way to describe Keith Lee. The man is way more athletic than he has any right to be with his build. Hell of a nice guy, too. His episode of Hey (ew) with RJ City is still the funniest episode. I highly recommend it.
Sting is still going strong at age 62, still having banger matches mostly teaming with Darby Allin (the skinny guy with the half-facepaint). He's an absolute physical freak and they know how to work around what limitations he does have.
To answer your question the explosions are part of a match type called 'exploding barbed wire death match' was popular in the 80's-early 2000's in japan and America , most notably with terry funk. in mainstream wrestling now its not all that common. the whole point was you touch a rope or a prop area a small explosion goes off. in some cases especially in japan the explosions were enough to cause severe burns and marks which is why its not used alot now. there are still companies that do this style of hardcore matches but its not as major now as it once was considered enjoy your content 😀

The explosions were apart of an exploding Barbed Wire Death Match. They don't happen often and the one between Moxley and Omega had a botched ending where the ring failed to "explode".
8:49 The match is an "Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch". The referee is dressed like that because the ring will allegedly explode (it didn't work out very well, that's a whole other story) at the end of the match, it's some kind of protective suit because of the explosions. 15:23 This guy is known as "brock lesnar guy" after having a popular crowd reaction during Brock Lesnar's WWE return in 2012. The explosions and the dude with the white suit on, that is from the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match, yes it was during covid times, the man in the white suit is the referee he just wanted to make sure that he didn't get hurt himself during the match.
was the ref really wearing some kind of fire retardant suit ? lol. that’s a little excessive , i mean WWE has had explosions in the ring before or just fire in general and the ref wasn’t wearing any special gear.
Your asking about the explosions when they hit the ropes and barbed wires, it's about new Japan pro wrestling match, a form of death match. New Japan Pro Wrestling, takes hard-core Wrestling to higher levels. If you remember ECW, New Japan goes almost 10times more extreme in several matches
It's moves like this that make me wonder why people think wrestling is fake. How can you fake jumping off a ladder onto someone else? You can't! I'm always gonna love this stuff! WWE and AEW combined.
Fun fact, I was at the show that had Jannella vs Omega. It was at the State Farm center in Champaign Illinois, which other fun fact is the home town of Tony Khan
The ref in the white suit has to wear that, If you ever see any of Terry funk's death matches from Japan in the 80s and early 90s the refs wore these suits to protect themselves from the explosions and whatnot.
That's an explosive barbwire deathmatch. Apparently, Kenny Omega was pissed about the final explosions because they weren't what he thought they were going to be.
Barefoot man got his shoes robbed mid match by his opponent when Mox poured the pins on the floor. The booms are from an "exploding barbed wire" match, so the ref had the suit on so he didn't get any minor burns or caught by barbed wire
oh those injuries do happen mate. Undertaker has had over like 20 surgeries and my favorite Edge had to retire for like 10 years due to a broken neck. Big E recently got his neck broke as well. another great reaction tho brother.
To answer how do wrestlers not get hurt. They do they just have a high tolerance to pain. One AEW wrestler wrestled main events with vertigo for 2 years.
I second that. I’m watching this while suffering from a trapped nerve in my lower spine, and I’m wincing every time someone’s back hits a solid object.
It was an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match, the ref was dressed like that to give the illusion that he was protected from explosions. The match itself was great, but after 30 minutes a timer went off and a HUGE explosion was supposed to happen, but only some small poppers went off but Omega and Moxley sold it like they were hit with a nuclear blast, and it looks ridiculous so the match got memed for awhile.
Those two guys you recognized in the crowd are definitely at alot of events. I'm pretty sure they have social media pages. "Brock Lesnar Guy" and "Superfan Smilez"
The referee was dressed in a hazmat suit and a gas mask, because he did not want to get blood on himself, and did not want to breathe in the cancer-causing smoke from the explosives inside and outside of the ring. Also, he was trying to protect himself in case he got knocked into the exploding ring ropes by accident, to avoid fiery burns from the explosives. He was the referee for an "Exploding Ring Match". Such matches are rare. They have been done in Japan, and once in the XPW promotion over 20 years ago. In that match, the referee wore a white air force base firefighting suit (the ones used to fight jet fires on the runway). Check out "XPW: Blown To Hell", and look for the "Exploding Ring Match".
That piledriver where he flipped over the ropes is called the Meltzer driver because well known wrestling critic Dave Meltzer hates stuff like that. I'm probably the 100th person to say it lol

The White Suit the ref was in was a protective bomb suit and the Explosions were from an "Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch". AEW didn't do it justice, but then again it's kinda hard to do it right as it's so stupidly dangerous,
In the Moxley vs. Omega match, the ropes have been replaced with barbed-wire and explosive charges so that whenever a wrestler is forced into the barbed-wire, a small charge goes off (hence the puffs of smoke). The referee is dressed in the full covering and mask because it is also an Exploding Ring Match, meaning that if the match doesn't end before the time-limit expires, the ring itself will be blown up. Due to this, the ref is wearing protective clothing. Unfortunately, the ending was a colossal dud, so you won't find it in this video.
5:13 that. That is a exploding barb wire deathmatch. there's explosions in the Barbed Wire match because that was the match type, Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch, how it works is the barbed wired is rigged t explode each time you hit it, and after a certain amount of time, the entire ring explodes. (though AEWs 'ring explosion' was really flipping sad, they actually made fun of it for the entire month after it happened.)

It was an exploding barbwire death match with Mox and Kenny omega which meant thee sides of the ring is covered in barbwire and everytime someone goes into the barbwire it sets off an explosion also it's a time match so after certain time there's a count down and the remaining explosives are set off
All these AEW compilations and not a single one has shown one of the greatest spots in AEW history. Kenny Omega hitting Sammy Guevarra with the One Winged Angel off the stands during Stadium Stampede at Double Or Nothing. One of the craziest spots I've ever seen. Dunno why its not in any of these. Would recommend finding it though
I’d suggest just watch the entirety of Cody Rhodes v Seth Rollins in Hell in a Cell. Man did an entire match with a torn pec and it was incredible. Make it happen you Irish legend ✌🏻
So to your point about if it hurts; in the moment yes and no. If you used thumbtacks as a weapon the adrenaline that runs through your body kind of numbs the pain. Generally you'll be bruised and sore and stiff like a horribly tough workout. Though obviously accidents happen, taking a piledriver is as safe as a bat shot because of the way they're trained and how it's shot. Also as an aside; the ref wasn't protected cause of COVID, it was an explosive barbed wire deathmatch so he was wearing a fireproof suit. It's adding to the story but he was wearing gloves in case he needed to grab the wire if something went wrong.
Green shirt guy I know as brock lesner guy after his reaction to brock coming back to wwe a few years back, he's at a lot ot shows. And sting is still going, at 63 years of age still taking bumps.
the ref was dressed up the way he was because it was a bomb squad suit, since everything is exploding around him, he decided to wear protection, against both the explosions and the barbed wire.
Mox had an eye patch because Jericho poked him in the eye with a metal spike off of his jacket. Janela has no shoes because Mox took them off then threw him on the tacks.
The rule in a survival situation is that you can likely survive a 30 foot fall. Doesn’t mean you won’t get hurt but you can use that rule in a survival situation.. So from the the top of the cage to the floor is about 23.5 feet or 7 meters. They’re well within that 30 foot rule so it must be true!

Uh no
The unprotected chairshots to the head do hurt. In fact, they're used sparingly in ALL of Pro-Wrestling for the reason of CTE.
Most promotions have banned headshots all together, most notably WWE - they get hefty fines if they do it.

Here's a link to the clip: ruclips.net/video/LCzBf-jo84o/видео.html
darby allen's body is gonna sound like legos in a few years
The one you thought was a botch was indeed a botch. The dude who went through the table jumped the gun and fell too early.
yes that was a botch, Trent bumped for Great O'Khan's taunt 😂
The eye patch was a storyline where moxley got ‘mamed’ by being stabbed in the eye
It was an exploding barbwire death match with Mox and Kenny omega which meant thee sides of the ring is covered in barbwire and everytime someone goes into the barbwire it sets off an explosion also it's a time match so after certain time there's a count down and the remaining explosives are set off
8:45 nah that was an "exploding barbed wire match" this Guy with Them suit was Like an pytrotechnican and ref
15:20 that’s Brock lesnar guy 😂
Adam: try to find the FMW matches: exploding barbwire deadmatch... the ref is in White because of protection of not getting hurt...
There's a definite underuse of Sammy Guevara in most of these highlight videos. This one had a few at the end, though.
I’d suggest just watch the entirety of Cody Rhodes v Seth Rollins in Hell in a Cell. Man did an entire match with a torn pec and it was incredible. Make it happen you Irish legend ✌🏻
The masked guy is Rey Fenix part of the Lucha brothers
Love all the vids adam
oh these moves definitely hurt them, just ask Omega who’s been out for 8 months now nursing his injuries.
Your facial expression are priceless lol
Ref was just dressed up like that to protect himself because is was an exploding barbed wire death match
Can You Do The Ultimate Kane’s Chokeslam Compilation?🙌🏽🔥
Green shirt guy I know as brock lesner guy after his reaction to brock coming back to wwe a few years back, he's at a lot ot shows. And sting is still going, at 63 years of age still taking bumps.
I think you need to watch the lucha bros vs young bucks cage match it will blow your mind (1:35 that clip is from this match)
the ref was dressed up the way he was because it was a bomb squad suit, since everything is exploding around him, he decided to wear protection, against both the explosions and the barbed wire.
The referee isn't dressed in the hazmat suits because of COVID it's to protect him from the explosions
I love how he says that guy was huge like it wasn't Shaq
Mox had an eye patch because Jericho poked him in the eye with a metal spike off of his jacket. Janela has no shoes because Mox took them off then threw him on the tacks.
The rule in a survival situation is that you can likely survive a 30 foot fall. Doesn’t mean you won’t get hurt but you can use that rule in a survival situation..
So from the the top of the cage to the floor is about 23.5 feet or 7 meters. They’re well within that 30 foot rule so it must be true!
if i remember correctly there were about 4 injuries in this video
two stingers, one concussion & a fractured foot
15:21 yep yep thats the "brock lesnar guy"
Same shirt .. almost every show
