My Rainbow Lorikeet Simon is so caring and kind and sweet. He is very understanding if I feel unwell or sick, he will try to cheer me up. Simon is my whole life and I love him with all my heart and he knows it.
My lovebird was like this I miss him so much. In fact your comment has convinced me to get a rainbow lorikeet. There’s nothing better than that parrot affection for me :( I miss Yaya so much
I totally agree with you! They aren’t hard at all like she says. All of the birds I have are about the same as far as work goes (if you put the work in that they need) I have macaws, lorys, sun conures, and umbrella cockatoos. She also says “not good talkers” my lorys all talk, one of mine has a huge vocabulary and it’s very clear and easy to understand. She says they’re like 3 year olds, well most all birds act like 3 year olds. At least all I’ve owned and raised. Anyways I could sit here and disagree with everything she says!! No Lorikeets are not for everyone and they are a unique bird (which I love about them). Anyways lol yes I love them and I think they’re great birds
Use too! Our baby is our daughter and we just adore her! I feel this woman really doesn't understand Loris at all and someone should take this bird away from her!
I had a lorikeet Thomas for 12 years prior to me he was owned by a lady who was Lebanese she had him for a year .The silly reason she gave him up was because he used to say swear words in Arabic which I thought was hilarious cause he obviously picked it up from her😂. It took him about 2 to 3 weeks to be fully comfortable with me and after that he was the sweetest bird ever he would sit on my shoulder and come everywhere with me. The funniest thing he used do is jump really really high he had some muscly legs from how high he did jump and how often. One thing he loved , his music if I wasn't around I'd make sure there was always music on he loved his music always dancing I really feel that music was relaxing to him and he loved to talk, he call me Mish and Mum also apple, happy, dance, hi, bye and is famous swear word was slut in Arabic 😂😂 . He was actually easy to toilet train because he loved follow my dog outside and go to the toilet first thing in the morning when I wake up I take him out of his cage you take him outside just like I would my dog just became routine so the clean up behind him wasn't a big problem because he was such a intelligent boy just copied the dog and Thomas and my dog Rosie became really good friends she was a labrador very tolerant of Thomas, I could talk forever about Thomas but I'll stop and say great video.Alll birds are different and have different personalities and I think angel is absolutely perfect. 😇😇😇🥰
@@ANGELICPARROTS I hate thinking about it but my son had when to the park down the bottom of the street from our house where there was large bottle brush tree where all the wild lorikeets use the flock to and as always he would bring some back home for Thomas without our knowledge the trees had been poisoned and sadly so was Thomas. . The next day my son and I went to the park to investigate and found a lot of dead lorikeets, knocked on some doors to try and find out what had happened but sadly nobody knew anything.
Hello Caroline, I don't know how you mange to look after so many birds. They are all so different and have different needs. I admire your love and patience.
My Rainbow Lorikeet spoke and whistled very clearly , He did get very jealous when i brought another bird home. He was angry with me and bit me. Unfortunately they are great escape artists. They need lots of love and attention.
You are not supposed to home them with other breeds! This is a common human mistake. If you did your research you wouldn't have been in that situation. Poor bird. I just want to cry reading all these comments that fall back on humans!!!!!
That's not true about lorikeet I have one and he's a wonderful bird poop do not smell and it's not that hard to clean they eat a lot of fruit so if you clean the cage every other day and wipe it down you have no problem obvious you don't clean your Birdcage that often because that cage was very nasty
That cage has been left unattended for a long period of time!! She has far too many to be able to upkeep all cages. She needs to be seen by animal authorities! Disgusting to leave a bird in that state!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬
I have a rainbow lorikeet. He's extremely playful and really, really talkative with a vast vocabulary (he also sings to my favourite songs mimicking the chorus line!). I have very little issue with his droppings as I prepare a food mixture composed of blended dried fruits and oats. He also eats fresh fruits and veg every day. I very seldom give him nectar powder and when I don, I give it to him dry. Furthermore, there''s an Australian brand called Vetafarm that produces nectar pellets which give him most of the nutrients he needs without all the liquid in his droppings. Although I appreciate where your'e coming from, my experience with a lori is diametrically opposed to yours. Your 6 reasons to buy a lori are spot on :)
Angel for sure is a cutie Carolin, but I think I will just enjoy your birdies like this. I have an 11 year old canary with one eye and he sings beautiful. That will be my last bird I own and I’m ok with it. I sure enjoy your kids and that’s good enough for me ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☀️💙
Good video but it seems like that type of bird can be different for each person who owns that type of bird. I have a question for you if i bought a tree stand from you made for a budgie how much would you charge me and how much would you charge to mail it Beth?
I have a rainbow lorikeet, Billy who is 8 years old and he’s adorable, as well as all the qualities you’ve listed Carolin 😜😂 My bird is an excellent talker and mimic, and I love him so much. Lorikeets are definitely a bird for someone who has had experience owning other birds previously. Here in Western Australia all the wild rainbow lorikeets are not native to WA , so they are classed as an introduced species. I have to have an approved license to keep him. Great video, I was so surprised you weren’t bitten by Angel to be honest, there was so much going on. You are obviously a very aware bird owner ❤️
My Lorikeet is My FIRST bird! She's awesome with none of these behaviours at all. I believe this bird is living in a stressful environment where bad behaviour is created!
Lorikeets are amazing! I have one and can say that his poo does not stink at all, it is liquid but no smell at all. He is a very special parrot and needs a lot of attention, but if you can't give your pet attention then you shouldn't have one..
@@anniesong1175 I'd question even the smelling if left, given I inherited 2 from a not the best home & the cages they came in were coated in poop, but not at all smelly. I think it's the diet that creates the smell if she's getting it. I did notice a smell when mine were eating some broccoli, I couldn't tell if it was from rotting broccoli (due to the shredding into tiny pieces left in the kitty litter at the bottom of the cage) or broccoli in their poop, but foods like corn aren't going to be good & I could certainly imagine their poop could smell from that
I don't need to own any rainbow lorikeets, I live in Eastern Australia with flowering trees all around me, so they are always around. Beautiful friendly birds who will come right up to you.
Please don't feed corn either. It's exactly the same as seed (and probably why the video talks of smelly poos, cause their poo doesn't smell at all if they're eating an appropriate diet). If in doubt, feed exclusively a good brand of nectavore mix. Woombaroo is regarded as the best in Australia. Look at it's ingredients & try to find one the same if it's not available where you are
I have 4 of them. They are adorable clowns 🤣🥰. And if the poop is stinky they get wrong food. You should check, if they if you don't watch steal the seeds of the others 😈😈. Lorikeets have muscles in their stomage and therefor they should only get liquid and soft food. ❤
Loved this video, all true and how! A rainbow adopted me. He flew down from a tall tree onto my shoulder and was my best buddy from then on, my shadow. When they decide they like you thats it, for life. Extremely clever, one of the cleverest of all birds in fact. This bird is not an ornament they need to live and breath you. It's hard work, very hard work. Not so good for training freaks who want the bird to do exactly what they tell it because it will be telling you exactly what it wants you to do most of the time instead. You will because cuteness factor 100% at work. Think mini Kea. Yep that kind of bird.
Mine loves 5 different people. She has a certain word for every person in our home. She loves new visitors and often greets them with 'Hello' followed by a wolf whistle! We rescued her very young. She also loves being near our rescued cockatoo and repeats all her sounds! She says lots and lots of words and sentences. She bops up and down to play peek-a-boo. This woman is no example of a real lorikeet! Animals behaviours are created from bad human behaviour. Its that simple!
Yeap in Australia they feed on bottlebrush nectar and Grevilea. I'm supprised that you can buy them outside of Australia, mostly because of the diet. They go even vs cockatoos:) and the cockatoos usually withdraw from a fight with a much smaller lorikeet.
They also like meat and chicken in small doses. They do eat insects and grubs in the wild. Just about any fruit and most vegetables, rice and pasta. They are very good mimics. Copy microwave beeping, doors squeaking etc. Best bird you could ever own.
Liebe Carolin, 💐Danke! Es hat soo Spaß gemacht dein Video zu sehen 😍 Angel ist so ein süßer Käpt'n Chaos😂 Ich liebe alle deine Babys🐣 Fühl dich gedrückt 🤗 meine liebe! ☀️Deine Freundin Ramona 🇩🇪
How loud are lorikeets ? I won’t 2 and have all competitions for them but my mom will killed me if they are soo loud how all people write ? Are then every time loud or some pards of the day ?
they squawk for fun! Not quite as bad as a cocky, but not much better. Not really a problem in Australia, cause it's in the trees all around outside all day everyday (and at night when they're in mating mode too), but I would guess it would be very noticeable if living somewhere without the wild lorikeet soundtrack as just a fact of life
Lovely Video, Trying to listen and Observe every thing that you are sharing, the video is very cute and Lovely Frankly in future can you only do a video with one bird, would be lovely to hear all that you share with less distraction ❤️
And bloody Apple sauce that's got so many preservatives in it because it is made for human consumption only! Poor bird. If I lived in her country I'd go take him away! She's a useless bird owner!

My wife and I have owned lories for some 25 years now, and while we love them, they do require very special attention and are definitely not a bird for a beginner bird owner. Keeping in mind that there are so, so many birds out there that suffer because of bad owners, I have to agree that unless you really understand what you are in for, you should not buy any parrot, and especially not a Lori.
Most lorikeets have red eyes. The pupil is brown and widens when excited or upset! Therefore people make this mistake often! have a rescued MUTANT Lorikeet and her eyes are always red!
um do NOT get a lorikeet then! They never shut up! They like screeching just for fun! Cockes are probably the only bird that's louder or more frequent in their screaming
depends on the colour mutation... There are some colour mutations that can run up to $1000-1500. Aviary rainbow lorikeets with no colour mutation I would say about the $25-$50 mark... but if you want hand raised and tame, usually the starting price on them is much closer to about $150-200
That is exactly why people outside Australia SHOULD NOT buy them. It is too attractive to people to buy or even trap them here and smuggle them out. It is an offence under the Wildlife Act to export them, so people smuggle them out in socks in their suitcase. Many die. It is common to say they were bred in captivity but you do not know that. If you love them you will not buy them!
Hahaha, this is hilarious because it's true. I've got one called Koda and he's a little shit, but mine XD Has tantrums most days and usually at night before bed or if he hasn't gone outside to scream at the birds outside. Basically mine has mannerisms like a dog ~
What a bad example of bird owner! Know your birds before you attempt to give them a home! If you did your research you would not have taken Angel home! You have put that beautiful bird in to an environment that brings up all the stresses that can cause bad behaviour! Bad mother I'd you ask me 🤷♀️
@@melaniehoneyman4838 I know right ? Carlion is pretty terrible, I love Birds but my favorite are parrots, any kind, carlion doesn't know about Birds, she spreads wrong information, gives her birds wrong diets, no attention, no large cages/clean, no big house, no playing with the birds at all, rehomes birds, reason why all of her birds are screaming is because she doesn't give them enough attention, she is no good bird owner, rainbow lorikeets are awesome, also, the reason why all of her birds behaves terrible is because she doesn't give them time, I hope she gets replaced because she has no knowledge/experiences, she is not a bird expert, she is the worst bird owner that people can imagine.
Your lori seems so sweet and calm compared to mine... How do you entertain Angel in the everyday life? Hoe much time do you spend exclusively with him? Apart from staying with him when I am not working, I give mine a ton of toys, but he behaves in a way I can't be sure he is happy of having them all around. He screams to them, he attacks them, he puffs out the feathers and makes a fan with his tail like he is making war to them and screams and squeaks when biting them. Sometimes he is quiet in his cage and suddenly starts attacking some toy. I tried to remove some and he attacked me too... How you recognize a lori happy of playing or hyper excitated and fighting or frustrated or anything else he could be trying to communicate? Thank you in avance for every advice.
My Lori Angel likes to mate with his toys or my hand. I let him. I found out he got more aggressive if I don’t let me and more frustrated when he can’t let it out. He also has Hope. Hope is his friend and big partner. They go together on a crime spree to hack things out. Angel teaches Hope bad behaviors and encourage him to do stuff Hope wouldn’t done on his own. Angel has lots of toys but he doesn’t really care about them. His highlight in the day is too kiss and cuddle with Hope. Hope is everything for him. I guess I just got lucky that these two bonded.
I got my lorikeet for free she was injured in my backyard in Australia and she was injured she is very comfy with everyone plays games jumps around sits on shoulders and that

I don't understand how fresh fruit and juice makes them expensive birds. *I* eat fresh fruit and juice (among other things). Seems buying a little extra from the produce section of the grocery store would be *less* expensive than getting bags of specialized bird food.
That Big Thing looks like a Fish. He looks like a Pot of Gold.💛 He's the only bird in the Whole World that sleeps on his back. Now that's rare. I could give you 97 more reasons Y. "I won't let go" ❤UBB4EVER
I'm Australian and they r quite cheap here but if there hand reared there more...yes there pooping is crazy they can poop every 10 min sometimes 😂 and the biggest issue with them is they r social birds and want company nearly all the time...if u carnt spend time with them lorikeets aren't really the bird 4 u...its not fair 2 them...i feed the wild birds in my back yard and the lorikeets will take on parrots 5 to 10 times bigger than themselves 😂 they can b aggressive 2 wild birds and even 2 there owner.
I watch your vids because I love birds, and I am interested. I have no bird myself, but your vids are very educational. Lorikeets are very beautiful, but not everybody can handle them. Love wanted some attention, but it wasn't his show today. Very nice vid, and thanks for sharing.
You are a bird horder! You are setting them all up for failure to behave badly...and then you blame the bird...wow! My brain just cannot understand you, how the hell could a bird 🙄🙄🙄
Great video, I always wanted a lory since I worked for an aviary that had many...but I am a clean freak and ya the poop lol. So, I don't have a lory. YET, anyway haha. They are so beautiful and meant for special people.
What a wonderful video full of information about lorikeet. I love it. It made me laugh. Angel is really a little clown. But their poop 💩 I think I can’t handle liquid stinky poop. Lol 😂 Good job Carolin! 🐦❤️
This video is sooooo inaccurate!!! Wtf is she even feeding the poor little guy? Hit me up for some real videos and tips and no...I'm not on RUclips looking for attention, just defending this beautiful and loving breed!!!!!
Lorikeets are feisty birds , even though they are not scared of cats , it’s a bad idea to let them play together , one bite or scratch from the cats can be fatal.
This should be 16 things you should CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING a lorikeet. Both good and bad. As an experienced parrot owner, I find the liquid excrement to be a bit of a pain, but if you are prepared for it, this is a delightful species to add to your family. But it is not a beginner's parrot. I love the bird's diet of nectar, fruits, and vegetables. When I have the time, I llove preparing his food and thinking of new things to try. Variety is the key and is like feeding an excited toddler. He even helps me to eat better with the fruits, nuts and veggies (he tries to feed me his nectar). They speak well, but not like an African Grey. At 8 months mine has a vocabulary of about 6 phrases and we have only had him for 3 months. But as a Biologist, I enjoy their singing over their talking and the "mumbling/grumbling" is absolutely adorable. He loves to wrestle and plays rough with me and gentle with my wife as he has learned who tolerates what. This breed is more affectionate and friendly to strangers than I have seen. In my opinion, if you are willing to put up with the frequent liquid poops and the advanced diet, then a Lorikeet is a good choice. I'm getting mine a mate because they don't break bonds. They make new ones.
I have lorikeets, we dont have a very good cage at the moment but me, dad and my sister are building an aviery outside. The 'poopoos' will just soak into the ground. right now with the not so good aviery, all the poop is soaked up by paper towls / thin newspapers. and their food can be really cheap; buy a nectar fruit tree, grow fruit and feed it to them! I just don't see how people think they're so hard to keep!! 😡😡 PLEASE RECONSIDER KEEPING LORIKEETS! they are so kind and friendly, the only reason they would attack you or poop everywhere is because they haven't been trained yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡 You can't get the perfect bird after ONE training; any bird is like that! Also, just because they don't talk isn't a good reason to NOT get a lory!
It probably won't be able to really get nectar in your greenhouse BUT it will love the flying option & you can artificially give it the nectar experience by dipping plastic bottle brushes in it's food or fruit puree & hanging them around the greenhouse :))
My Rainbow Lorikeet Simon is so caring and kind and sweet. He is very understanding if I feel unwell or sick, he will try to cheer me up. Simon is my whole life and I love him with all my heart and he knows it.

Hello Caroline, I don't know how you mange to look after so many birds. They are all so different and have different needs. I admire your love and patience.
Personally, I think this woman is a bat shit crazy bird horder asking for trouble!
@@melaniehoneyman4838 Where do i say i had a different breed ? Dont assume.
@@robertsunderland9196 it's irrelevant anyway! Anyone who thinks this woman's video is ok, is just as stupid as her!!
I have a lorikeet myself and he is beautiful and so playful and adorable. Lorikeets are great pets to have
100%! They are also great for people who suffer depression!
Yeah they are , only actual problem is the poop. Everything else is just parrot things.
"they go on other trees, kick out the eggs of the other birds and start nesting there”
-similar to humans
yeh, but they don't do that!
Sorry to tell you, humans don't lay eggs !!
quick question i have 11 cockatiel birds do I have feed em wet food as well 🤔???
Wow I paid 400 .00 for my Lori , that was 18 years ago tho ,,lol she’s still her going strong at 18 , and I love her ! 🌈😁🌈🌈🌈
Do you indicate them for free flight? Are they difficult to train?
Yss I have also
So do I but 1 or 2 years old
My Lorikeet is My FIRST bird!
It doesnt smell , but it only smells if you don’t clean up timely.
This was awesome too watch . I didn't know about the seed thank you. My little sam just watched this with me . got so excited lol...
I’m happy to hear
That’s not a tantrum, he’s just playing and may I add he’s very beautiful 😁🌈😁🌈🌈🌈🌈
Thanks for this vid, hopefully people would do some research before they commit to buying any species of parrots
Yeah finally a comment that makes sense! This woman is bad for birds. Absolutely zero control over that situation!
@@melaniehoneyman4838 agree.
People that have them love them. As far as expensive goes how much was the hyacinth
What I do with my lorikeet is I feed is nectar and put warm water in it and then after that I give it some fruit
Please tell me how I find macaw Scarlett or green wings eggs ?I want to buy
lovely human being
They are amazing pets. My boy is loving and sweet.
I have a rainbow lorikeet and I can attest to them being very territorial. mine is very protective of me, but she is so sweet and never stops talking
You can buy virtually anything you want In EU
I have one and she is amazing
Thank you very much!
Very Useful advice.
How do you call rainbow lorikeets tell me
How did you stop them from biting you?
They also like meat and chicken in small doses. They do eat insects and grubs in the wild. Just about any fruit and most vegetables, rice and pasta.
They are very good mimics. Copy microwave beeping, doors squeaking etc. Best bird you could ever own.

That is exactly why people outside Australia SHOULD NOT buy them. It is too attractive to people to buy or even trap them here and smuggle them out.
PLEASE RECONSIDER KEEPING LORIKEETS! they are so kind and friendly, the only reason they would attack you or poop everywhere is because they haven't been trained yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡 You can't get the perfect bird after ONE training; any bird is like that!
Also, just because they don't talk isn't a good reason to NOT get a lory!
I switched from newspaper etc to kitty litter & find it works much better. Might be helpful for you short term till you get the aviary built :)
Im thinking of buying one i have held and feed then before i might keep it in my greenhouse so it has room to fly and get necter
It probably won't be able to really get nectar in your greenhouse BUT it will love the flying option & you can artificially give it the nectar experience by dipping plastic bottle brushes in it's food or fruit puree & hanging them around the greenhouse :))
i think they are soooooooooooooo cute
To me, They are not.
