Yo BP, I recommend a soft start kit to help save on energy. Its essentially an extra capacitor you wire in series to the existing. It helps the compressor not pull full load on start. It will help your compressor/fan motor last longer
Cool n Save is a ripoff. If you get something similar to this, do not get it from Cool n Save. the unit I got from them has extremely short mister hoses, so they wouldn't reach all the eedges of my AC. Also, they want you to adhere the flap to the center of the unit, the absolute hottest part of the unit, instead of to a corner, where it would have worked just fine (except that the mister hoses are way too short). When adhered in the middle of the AC, the adhesive fails right away because it's so hot. Cool N Save isn't even trying to make a legitimate product from what i can tell. It's a great idea, but a real company needs to come along and make them properly. I lost $100 finding this out the hard way.
