This tip is something I think I'm just starting to realize after 20-30 hours of playtime. It really helps hearing your explanation though. Makes sense when you articulate it like that. These videos are great! Thank you!
GOATED ADVICE. I always used to put them on 2s and smaller denominations, and FREQUENTLY lost on higher ante's because of this exact strat and subsequently started winning alot more while implementing the start in this short.
This is something I just realized last night when I had the Joker that turns face cards into gold when played. I got to ante 12, and my previous best is losing to 9's small blind
I am a new player so obviously I don't have that much experience to come up with my own conclusions and stuff, but while I understand the idea of hands getting clogged up by steel cards, I also kinda don't which could be a fault of not yet having much time in the game. Most of the time I only end up getting at most one steel card or one death tarot, never both seemingly and never more than that. I also just don't really ever pick/make gold cards since they just don't seem that valuable most of the time compared to other options, especially since I only ever seem to get the option of having a gold card by the time my economy is in a good enough place to not worry about that over improving mult and stuff. In regards to playing steel cards and seals instead of holding them, is it actually a better thing to do? considering the odds of getting hand size increases and shaving down your playable hand with hanged man etc, would it not be better a lot of the time to keep the steels for that extra boost in mult instead of play the hand with it and potentially not win? And if you already know you'd win without needing the extra 1.5X why even have it in the first place?
And yes I have beaten the game a few times now so its not like I'm just constantly losing runs even if my losses do still outweigh my wins at this point. Furthest I've gotten endless wise is a couple losses in ante 9. Still no clue how people manage to get onto those insane runs with e level mults..
One thing that I had to learn was the importance of a good early economy. Try to get the first blind with one hand, be frugal and only get one or two mult jokers to get you through the early game unless it's something that will give you more cash. Pass on lesser vouchers like shop ones at first. Once you get assured interest you can start grabbing packs and re-rolls to find money tarot's and such. It opens more opportunities to improve what you have.
Using the death tarot card you will tend to duplicate cards that are part of your winning hand vs. Using it to make a gold card that doesn't contribute to your winning hand

You're welcome!

Great advice! I'm around 40 hours and just realized I've been doing it wrong. They've been so much more useful now that I'm doing it this way.
Your tips are actually helping me so much
Glad to hear it! Go get those wins!
Playing with the DNA joker is what really caused this to click for me
Assuming we're talking about "normal" deck (not Abandoned/Checkered), this theory applies better yeah.
ahhh that actually makes so much more sense. I used to only put them on cards I wont play, thx for the advice
I hadn't thought of this at all but it makes so much sense. Thanks!
This makes way more sense actually thanks for the advice
Wow this is crazy cause I do the exact thing you talk about. Like I only make 2’s gold and 1.5x cards instead of worrying about a winning hand
Yeah I realized that after a couple of days playing. I’m only discarding 1-2 cards to hold only the steels but can’t get enough to make my flush 😅
Low key proud of myself for finding out about this just in my regular playthrough
I'm low key proud of you too! Love learning as you go
You're truly a pro gambler!

Damn it's always great to hear another perspective I've been doing a mix of both but this might change now
Oh I never thought of things that way. But it makes sense when you explain it! Thanks for the tip I'll have to try it out :)
Give it a try and see how it feels. Thanks for watching!
This is sound advice... I will try this out.
bars. thank you for the advice
You're very welcome!
I think I needed this.
Well I needed this comment so thank you!

Damn, very good advice
W tip and for once someone talking about balatro dont act like they are so much better than us for being for efficient ingame
I was putting them on stuff i didnt need... this makes more sense.
Great advice
How does this work? i dont understand. How will i be able to duplicate them if i play them?
Using the death tarot card you will tend to duplicate cards that are part of your winning hand vs. Using it to make a gold card that doesn't contribute to your winning hand
Damn im dumb that makes so much sense
"they hated him because he told the truth"
this is why i dont use gold much and steel only once my core deck wins are locked on.
Or atleast put it near cards you want, if face put on 10/9, if hack put it around a-5. Other than what he said it makes tarot(death much better)
