Bless this review. I'm currently in need of new low maintenance shirts for work. Twillory caught my eye, but I'm definitely glad I did my research prior to buying. I gotta look into these Mizzen&Main and Bluffwork brands now
The twillory ones are more like a traditional dress shirt with some structure. State and liberty is has much higher stretch but feels like a nike dri fit shirt, people can tell its a stretch shirt. The twillory ones look like a cotton shirt, and they're less see thru than the state and liberty. But they are much more comfortable than a cotton dress shirt, especially if you work out. The neck sizes run small in my experience, and for me the Extra trim fit with a 1/2 in higher neck size is the best cut to get more of a V tapered shirt. They wrinkle alot and take more time to iron which sucks but once they are ironed they don't wrinkle back fast. For $50 its a no brainer. Mizzen and main and bluffworks are so overpriced to me and have much less sizing options. I think twillory has the most sizes, 3 Fits and the full range of sleeve and neck sizes. Mizzen and main is like $130 for a dress shirt that comes in T-shirt sizes so you'll probably spend $25-50 tailoring them.
I think you were trying to not like these shirts. it's obvious you literally took those out of the packaging & put them on, yes they have lines & wrinkles because they need to be washed first, the dryer takes out the wrinkles. 💀 Epic fail.
On the undershirt issue, I picked up a Twillory v-neck performance undershirt in tonal color. I wore it under my Mizzen+Main white dress shirt, which is quite thin and somewhat see-through. It's a great combination, and I stayed quite dry and cool with the Twillory material in the warm weather.
Great review, as I love all of these shirts (Mizzen+Main, Bluffworks, and Twillory Performance shirts, and I also like Bonobos, such as the Jetsetter shirt). I found having several Twillory shirts in my rotation makes a lot of sense for me. Buying several Twillory shirts at once meant these were the most economical performance shirts compared to the others. Twillory also helps Canadian customers by switching to Canadian dollars on the web site, and handling shipping and duties better than the other companies. Being in Canada I have found the Twillory performance shirts great for the cooler half of the year (there is an upside to the natural cotton), and I wear Bluffworks and Mizzen+Main shirts much less in the winter but they're fantastic in the hot summers. I air dry my Twillory shirts (with a fan going in the room), and I generally haven't run into wrinkle problems. I have never used an iron on a Twillory performance shirt. Mizzen+Main is certainly best for being wrinkle-free, but for most of the Mizzen+Main shirts I got I had to initially apply a steamer to get rid of the wrinkles out of the box. I got one SafeCotton Twillory shirt, but didn't like it and I prefer the Performance line, as it has great designs and comes closest to being free of wrinkles. Style-wise, I've gotten the most compliments for the Bonobos and Twillory shirts. There is a wide range of sizes and fits, and I had to do some trial and error to get the right fit. For a cotton shirt, I'd say Twillory Performance is better than most other cotton shirts out there (my tailor agreed).
Not sure why people pay anywhere near $100 for an off the rack shirt (and maybe extra to alter it after purchase) when you can pay $115 for a made to measure performance shirt from woodies clothing (for example) with a perfect fit guarantee. Maybe some people are able to get a perfect fit off the rack. Not me. Not even close.
I wouldn’t pay $100 for a Twillory Shirt, that’s for sure. I’ve actually tried Woodies but wasn’t all that impressed with the features of them. They didn’t have some of the technical advantages for something like Mizzen and Main.
I agree… usually but the irons in the hotel rooms never work or leave rust stains. So, I’d rather play it safe than sorry - and not rush to make it perfect when traveling.
@@WeTriedIt thanks...Well I just bought and washed 4 of them 😂. They came out pretty nice, but still need to run a quick iron over them. My biggest complaint on all shirts is that they are not made for shorter guys. I’m 5’7” and have to order the S/M for the sleeve and chest size, but the neck is way too small to button for a tie.
@@WeTriedIt I have not. It's hard to believe that polyester could ever be as breathable and comfortable as cotton. I tried synthetic underwear (base layers) and pants that claim to be quick dry and temperature regulating...they all end up being uncomfortable.
Thank god I found you guys before buying

Have you tried the suit separates?

Ironing a shirt is not that big of a deal. after a few shirts you get faster and better. lots of great videos on how to iron shirts here on youtube

@@WeTriedIt My experience has been Polyester don't fee or look great as all cotton. for me I rather stick to cotton
Did you wash it? Looks like you just took it out of the package?
It was slightly better after taking it out of the package but I did have a shot of it out of the washer in the review

Polyester dress shirt? I'm embarrassed for you.😢
Have you tried shirts like Mizzen + Main? They don't look polyester at all.
