The strings it comes with are excellent and very bright which in turns brightens this whole sound. I have one too and absolutely love love love it....except for the action is high out of the box but can be lowered, I mean needs to be lowered quite significantly
Great video. Saw another where the guy played way too hard, like he was trying to break the strings...almost put me off this guitar...glad I watched yours. Very good sound even played right.
Who else held their breath when he opened the case standing straight up. I freaking knew it was going to swing closed on the guitar and nick the top lol
The koa top will open up with time which will add some more base and woodiness to The Overall Sound. I get Mine next week, Can’t wait! Regards from Germany 🤟🏼
Hi Barret, have you tried Taylor 814ce v class before? I have a Taylor 324ce v class but I tried 814ce v class in Guitar Center before and sounds brilliant and rich.
@@insanedrummer89 Ok Barret, I bought a Taylor 224ce koa Deluxe special edition, I did 2 comparisons last time before 224ce-k-Dlx standard and 224ce-k-Dlx special edition, I feel like Special Editing 224ce sounds more warm, bright and rich, and the color of 224ce-k-Dlx more bright and beautiful, why you don’t use Special edition?
Just saw one of these at a pawn shop for $1199, which is what I thought these went for new. Sales guy said comes with an upgraded hard case. I’m pretty sure all DLX models came standard with case, but I could be wrong on that. He stated he could go down to $1000. Told him I’d think about it, as they have had a fake 614 with square glossy label on inside in the past. Came here for reviews and to compare features. Should I go for it?
R. Jones hey R Jones! Thanks for watching. I’ve been making content on this RUclips channel for about 7 years now on and off. But it’s always just been for fun.
Just saw one on Craig's list for sale, The only thing that is weird to me is the back where the head meets the neck, It's not a one piece neck to head, The head is "Jointed" to the neck. What's up with that ?
I just watched a Taylor commercial, They make a 3 piece neck to conserve precious Mahogany, I've had the 900 series down to the 100 series, I don't remember Taylor having a 3 piece neck ?
I hav a guitar guy that does all of my work so when I got it I changed the strings and had him do the full business on it lol. I just use Martin lights usually.
I recently brought this guitar and it’s on the way. I have a question, did you find the neck width a problem? I have thicker fingers and I’m concerned about not having enough space to finger pick
Eddie Bien-Aime the neck took some getting use to for sure. The guitar took some getting use to to begin with. I had my guitar guy change the strings and do a set up on mine once a got it, the main thing after a couple of months the Koa wood really starts to open up nicely, it’s worth the wait
Sounds great! Can I ask what strings you put on yours? I just received mine last week and I think I want to change the strings. They're a little too bright/metallic for my liking. Thanks!
I believe their Mexican plant is only 30 min from main plant. I can say for sure but I would imagine being so close they do good with quality control. Also GS mini is made there and is a nice and has a great reputation
I owned two of these and I was very disappointed in both of them. Neither of them had much volume or projection. The first one had something wrong with the neck so I ended up getting a replacement for it. The second one sounded exactly like the first, which just didn't have much volume at all. The tone was ok, but disappointing for a Taylor. I've owned 5 Taylors now, and these were by far the worst examples.
becomeaudible1 I hear you. It’s the nicest guitar I own and I still owe $500 on it lol so needless to say it’s expensive but there are better alternatives if you want to pay some more.
From my understanding Koa is similar in tone to mahogany. These woods are know for compression and warm tones, not as loud as Sitka spruce or say rosewood
Just got my own last week. What an amazing sound! It just makes me ring when I play it.
Excellent man! Enjoy it. Mine already needs new strings lol.
The strings it comes with are excellent and very bright which in turns brightens this whole sound. I have one too and absolutely love love love it....except for the action is high out of the box but can be lowered, I mean needs to be lowered quite significantly
Yeah set ups are essential.

Tone is everything for sure bro! Thanks.
Heard that fellow also.

The drummer move
Very Nice. Thanks for playing the guitar and not just talking about playing the guitar. 😎
AmatullahK haha thanks. I do lots of reviews and lessons on this channel and hate ppl who ramble on! All sound!
I got a taylor 214ce dlx and love it can’t go wrong with a taylor
The koa top will open up with time which will add some more base and woodiness to The Overall Sound. I get Mine next week, Can’t wait!

Raffael Noah dude no kidding! The wood has already started to open up very nicely, way worth the wait!
Beautiful demo straight to the point keep it up ;)
Great review and wonderful playing!
More suited with an amp, mine is sweet, clear and stays in tune for hours of play, but it’s soft finger picked. U need a pick or hit that dial.
Great playing especially the Clapton at the end.
Raygun34 thanks!
Just bought one of these. Sooooooo sweet!
She’s a goodin
Gorgeous guitar
What is the song played starting at 8:53? It sounds great :)
Tears in heaven
What material is the fretboard? Så black it looks like it could be ebony.
Yes, it is West African crelicam ebony

Yeah anything Taylor past the 200 series means business but is also damn expensive

Dr Powell not sure. Honestly, if you love playing it/it feels good to play, hit it up for a $1000. I did pay a bit more than that for mine new.
I just bought one of these on line, can't wait. How long did it take to get 600 followers and did you actively seek subscribers.

Nocturnal - the neck on this guitar is Sapele, not Mahogany. I wonder if it makes a difference in terms of feel and playability?
I’d definitely buy this if I wasn’t able to get the 814ce or the k24ce lol
Justin M. Good choice! Still have my Koa!
I’m torn between the 214 versus 224. 😭
How is the action height and neck size (thickness, radius)? I have small hands and am looking for a guitar that I can without hurting my fingers.
For u, believe me Taylor is not really for small hands. I have small hands n a 2003 Taylor 414ce ltd with imbuai wood. Action high, have to set it up,
Did u have to get yours setup when you got it
Also what gauge strings do you use

@@insanedrummer89 Any experience with Elixir Strings?
Purdy guitar and nice tunes!
Is there such a guitar as the Taylor 225ce?
no
yea, a video :)
Where can I buy this model?!
Al Uy I bought it off guitar center
Are those tuners gold colored?
N M Na silver
I have this guitar and mine are gold, maybe it's just the lighting
I love Snarks!!!!
For sure

Logan Betz I just went with my old fav, Martin SP lights
Thank you! So, it is ok to put Martin strings on a Taylor?! ; ) Also, do you use the 80/20 bronze or the phosphor bronze?
Nice stairway.
nice hendrix
Love the guitar. Bad audio and bad video quality.
i love you too!
Not bad for mexican made
Federico Ines Is this seriously made in Mexico??

100 and 200 models all made in Mexico from what I understand. All good with me.
Have the same guitar for sale for 980...
Sabastian Gunner that’s one killer deal! I bought it brand new
Where did you buy it from?
