Last summer, I was driving my convertible north of Duluth enjoying the Lake Superior view from Highway 61. I listened to Bob Dylan....most of the time.
This song describes perfectly where I am emotionally, post divorce, in what would’ve been our 30th year of marriage, 32nd year together. I knew something was wrong. You always do, even if you can’t put your finger on it. New Years Day, 2017, he tells me he doesn’t love me anymore. There’s no one else in the picture, he just fell out of love. Don’t ever believe that bullshit. Of course there was another woman. It was like no pain I’ve ever experienced physically, literally the worst pain of my life. Two more years of bullshit, until New Years Day 2019 I was free. New Years Day 2021. I don’t think about him anymore...most of the time.
. . . Take every good care of yourself Amy , not the first and won't be the last , sadly . Many ' adults ' ... choose not to grow up . Time alone brings the stillness within ... and without . And clarity . Be well .
Similar story to myself. My wife of 13 years, we had been together 20 years told me in early 2018 she had fallen out of love with me. Said there was or had been no one else. I wont go into details but I had been suspicious that there actually was someone else for a couple of years leading up to her leaving. Never found out if I was right or just picking up bad vibes for other reasons. Though I still think I may have been close to the truth. I was broken at the time but now I am glad it’s over. Happier by myself, most of the time.
@@slumdogjay I’m so sorry you went through the same thing as I did. The only thing that heals it is time, unfortunately. Karma for my ex would also do it, lol.
The poetic genius of this song is pure Dylan. How many love songs are there about love and love lost but this speaks the heart and mind and soul of a person who has settled on denial. How can you understand this if you haven’t experienced it and then how do you say so others might also understand? Bob Dylan has achieved stardom that he doesn’t really want. He has created a stable of hit songs that cover every genre, every peace and quest for social justice but when he reveals the heart and sensitivity reflected in this song of utter sadness of a love abandoned I think it shows a whole other level of depth and understanding just of what love truly is.
I have loved this song for many years and yet today it has even greater meaning. “Poetic Genius”… yes this is poetic genius. He is a poetic genius and it’s because as you said, he feels it, but many people feel it, but he can express it so we can feel his pain and it’s been expressed so much better than I can say it myself. I just lost my wife of 46 years. Listening to this song brought the depth of my sadness into the room. So many people have been so nice and I know I’m a very lucky person and… and I can carry on and be thankful and all that… ‘most of the time’ but there are times I just want to cry, I mean CRY and I thank God that I found love and I thank God for poets like Dylan who can say it better than I.
We've all felt like this, and Bob expresses it beautifully. A wounded man, being brave and vulnerable at the same time: "I can survive, and I can endure, and I don't even think about her...most of the time". It brings tears to my eyes... xx
A fan of this man since 1960s....he's only 5 years older than me. When I was sixteen and I was mostly confined to my room....Dylan was there...and still here.

My daughter loved my introducing her to my music. Music, new soul touching finds to share with one another was one of our shared passions. I lost her to suicide 9/11/2015. Sometimes I wonder if I was ever with her, or she was ever with me. Life, please do not engage in suicide. It ruins it for all of us forever who love you.
I keep coming back to his music to listen to his words. Poetic, simple, but with deep meaning. His words evolve just as we do. His lyrics will never be out dated.
What a great song and I'm sure has different meanings to everybody. Losing a loved one, ending a relationship or even losing a friend. I'm a sucker for a song about regret and bob sings it so well.
I'm 67 now. all through my prime I bought his albums and chunky 8-track tapes. always thought I'd heard and knew more about Bob Dylan than most... then, just recently I heard this wonderful song... How cool is that?
For me this man and his music are in a league way beyond all the others, and this song has been my current favourite, by a nose, for some time. Who else has over 100 songs that could all be top of the list?
I have been fascinated by his sound since 1964, only recently had the time to catch up with the massive catalogue that was not on the 30 or so albums I did have. There are so many unknown gems, "Call letter blues" & Abandoned love from the bootlegs, really should have got more credit. the list is long! some times a song you have known for years suddenly jumps out and amazes me too. 50 years and it`s still fresh. Happy birthday Bob.

I know exactly where it all went
I don't cheat on myself

Really touched to see how many people listen to Dylan for healing purposes. Very inspiring, and I would be very humbled if I were him.
Been listening to him 30 plus years, keep stumbling on these hidden gems. Some just don't get him, but it's their loss. Such beauty waiting to be discovered.
Last summer, I was driving my convertible north of Duluth enjoying the Lake Superior view from Highway 61. I listened to Bob Dylan....most of the time.
Love that North Shore drive... Grandma's Marathon course
Be well .
You will get there and come out stronger.
Take good care of yourself ..... I hope the music comforts you....
I’m very sorry for your loss.
And thank you very much for this great description.
We've all felt like this, and Bob expresses it beautifully. A wounded man, being brave and vulnerable at the same time: "I can survive, and I can endure, and I don't even think about her...most of the time". It brings tears to my eyes... xx
Perfectly said bro...
Yes, Tom; you're not alone.
I just hope to God Bob knows how much he is loved and revered and always will be, forever more !!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's the utmost/one of a kind!
I hope I'm on the same planet with him in the next life.................Love to you Bob!
I hope I'm on the same planet & alive at the same time!
Been a fan for over 50 years. Simply the best!
A fan of this man since 1960s....he's only 5 years older than me. When I was sixteen and I was mostly confined to my room....Dylan was there...and still here.
I watch my wife of 52years die in instalments over ten years of al,s Hiemer,s thank,s Bob for getting me through
God bless you Brian...lost my brother, music has saved me..
A lot of people listen to Bob Dylan during bad times, it helps.
Michael Smith yes
Brian Randall: feel for ya. i'm with my 96 yr old mom everyday. she's a stroke survivor & has dementia. grueling to watch someone so great and loving go thru this but i wouldn't trade one second of it. sorry for your loss.
you know it will be a far greater future there with her than this world can give
Dear Mr. Dylan, I am writing to inform you that 😊❤️ I am still listening to this favorite song of mine after regularly listening to it for almost a year. Lovingly 💓, Gayle Raye Bremer
The greatest songwriter and composer ever!!! I've loved him for longer than I can remember. He's helped me go through tough times and enjoy good times with his songs. A stunning poet, who's written about every issue we can think of. A Genius!!!
and now it is officially recognised, with the Nobel...
(not that Bob needed it, but still...)
This song reminds me of my mother who died in a car accident. Man Dylan is such a master songwriter...RIP mom.
I'm sorry for your loss. Although I didn't lose my parents in such a tragic situation and I'm old (68) they've been gone 16 years within 6 months of each other so I can almost understand your hurt.... definitely understand your love.
Most of the time
I'm clear focused all around
Most of the time
I can keep both feet on the ground
I can follow the path
I can read the signs
Stay right with it
When the road unwinds
I can handle whatever
I stumble upon
I don't even notice
She's gone
Most of the time
Most of the time
It's well understood
Most of the time
I wouldn't change it if I could
I can't make it all match up
I can hold my own
I can deal with the situation
Right down to the bone
I can survive,
And I can endure
And I don't even think
About her
Most of the time
Most of the time
My head is on straight
Most of the time
I'm strong enough not to hate
I don't build up illusion
'till it makes me sick
I ain't afraid of confusion
No matter how thick
I can smile in the face
Of mankind
Don't even remember
What her lips felt like on mine
Most of the time
Most of the time
She ain't even in my mind
I wouldn't know her if I saw her
She's that far behind
Most of the time
I can't even be sure
If she was ever with me
Or if I was ever with her
Most of the time
I'm halfway content
Most of the time
I know exactly where it all went
I don't cheat on myself
I don't run and hide
Hide from the feelings
That are buried inside
I don't compromise
And I don't pretend
I don't even care
If I ever see her again
Most of the time
perfect. thanks for sharing.
Thank you Cyrine for sharing Bob Dylan's lyrics.
Thanks so much!
No words r enough for mr.dylan u live long.bless u
Thanks a billion for sharing. B
Love this song and the whole album produced by Daniel Lanois. Well deserved Nobel Prize for Mr. Dylan.
Sylvie Cockburn. I've listened to Dylan mpst of my life, he is. True Troubadour in his words and his life is very inspiring to all who listen to him, What a Nlessing from God!!! 😄
Daniel adds the element that is so dream like to this song.
I came straight here from watching an excellent (and recent) interview with Daniel Lanois. He said of the songs of other artists he’s produced, this is the song that he was the most proud and honored to have worked on. He said he’s deeply moved whenever he hears it.

It's the other times that kill you. The best American song writer of all time. Period.
I agree- Yes i know he steals the words he comes up with from all the books he reads- Like that album "Love & Theft" it is a great album but you know he stole so many lines from that Japanese dude- Google it and you will see- I took me many years to find out where he came up with all the songs - words and great one liners- but now i know where he stoled all them from but who cares right ?
@@meyou-dv8ns We know you are a hateful person but it's OK, who cares right?
That's why the title of great American Songwriter belongs to Townes Van Zandt. That dude was real...
@@meyou-dv8ns Thanks 😊 ☺️😘❤️ n I love you too...I LOVE my BABY 💙 ❤️ GIRL and my Heart 💓 💔 Belongs to HER ...I LOVE my BABY 💙 ❤️ GIRL World... FOREVER ❣️❣️❤️❤️♥️ At least HE...
Shared it with US... ! !
@@rockers2rockers616 Lol dude cmon. Townes was great, but he doesn't have 1/10th of the great songs dylan has. Dylan is studied in college classrooms now as part of american lit. I love Townes, but that's just a ridiculous statement.
Most of the time... i dont cry with this song.
Gracias Bob
Most of the time I do.
Sergio Collado most of the time
Amazing quote Bro.
Sergio. Great... I suspect the irony of what you say is missed by many. That makes it so much better. Just ask Dylan.
Sorry for my bad english language. I"m old man, 65 age, now, after all these years (from sixties) I' listen only Bob Dylan. Unbelieveable artist.
65, you are NOT a old man sir, stay young
65 is not old man, unless you want to be
The Grateful Dead cover Bob Dylan and have even played w Bob. Search on www.RUclips.com rec )
You are not alone... Am 71
You are not alone or old, man..
Forget the early songs, this one is magnificent. Never tire of it.
....the single greatest writer of the 20th century....they will be listening & trying to penetrate his songs for centuries.....
....he finally found that "thin, mercury sound"...
I agree with you 100%.
Chris Andrus we really don't know what you talking about
HE GOT THAT on blonde on blonde no ? :)
....really ?.... it seems quite straight forward....
....i would say, "yes, in those days he was 'in the middle of it", but he's spent decades gettin it back....
All this beautifull coments about Bob, this makes me feel real good, living in the same world as you guys, hearing this amazing artist, his amazing lyrics and his sublime way to sing reaching deep in the heart, bone & soul. A real bless for those who apreciate.
Just lost the most important person my life will ever know.......I get this one now. Thank you Bob.
Hang in there, my man. I'm very sorry for you.
Bob dylan i did not know it at the time. 1967 i was your neighbor. At long beach apts ! I was married with 2 little kids! Your songs are really awesome! Wish i had met you ! I was drop death gourgeous ! But it never help me love margie
OMG! He's a gift to the ages.
"Blood on the Tracks" should be in a time capsule.
it is
Also this is from Oh! Mercy
It should be in every spaceship that goes into the dark corners of space and doesn't come back.
We have all been very lucky to be alive at the same time Mr. Dylan was writing. Almost every work a masterpiece. Some of us lucky enough to see him perform live. Mr.Dylan is like all of us getting older. Remember him in your prayers. Thanks for posting. From Vienna. Peace.
this fucking song... Dylan's voice is unparalleled
great shout 👍
Stuck Inside of Mobile: hey george, i made a comment here and just noticed that you had also used the word "unparalleled". i edited my comment and took that word out.
I just don't get it when I hear people say that Bob can't sing or hasn't got a good voice. So, who would you want to be singing?
Gives me chills. This song is so beautifully resonant. Probably tor most the planet. ❤️
England had the great William Shakespeare. We got our Bob Dylan. A poet and a true troubadour speaks from the heart of deeper things and things far away.
Inspirational is the music by bob Zimmerman. Great guy.salute u sir bob.
Well said
He is a Shakespeare but a modern poet.
how bout a swap?
Didn't get this guy till i was late thirties . Stuck in the heavy of the late 70's and early 80's Now 60 and can't stop hearing his style, Timeless is what i say!
"I'm strong enough not to hate" Words I try to live by
Me too... most of the time.
Bob's brilliance is just beyond his critics. he is a poet, a musician and many more.......

😢😢😢
I keep coming back to his music to listen to his words. Poetic, simple, but with deep meaning. His words evolve just as we do. His lyrics will never be out dated.
What a great song and I'm sure has different meanings to everybody. Losing a loved one, ending a relationship or even losing a friend. I'm a sucker for a song about regret and bob sings it so well.
Bobs at his finest when heartbroken.
+johnniejukebox True, like in many of his songs
johnniejukebox absolutely!
or just thinking....
aren't we all.. creative-wise.. I sure am..
That's what made "Blood On The Tracks" such a wrenching masterpiece.
I'm 67 now. all through my prime I bought his albums and chunky 8-track tapes. always thought I'd heard and knew more about Bob Dylan than most... then, just recently I heard this wonderful song... How cool is that?
This song is deep on so many levels, I have lived a century & only a day within this immaculate literacy
I hope they don't block this page because the comments on here touch me with their love and generosity. We've all bought the album Bob.
frankygib you and me both. His music is helping so many. Personally, I couldn't have done it without him.
True! I bought the cassette tape version in Jerusalem, 1992. I've lost the tape since, but I think that might still count!
For me this man and his music are in a league way beyond all the others, and this song has been my current favourite, by a nose, for some time.
Who else has over 100 songs that could all be top of the list?
I have been fascinated by his sound since 1964, only recently had the time to catch up with the
massive catalogue that was not on the 30 or so albums I did have. There are so many unknown gems, "Call letter blues" & Abandoned love from the bootlegs, really should have got more credit. the list is long!
some times a song you have known for years suddenly jumps out and amazes me too.
50 years and it`s still fresh.
Happy birthday Bob.
***** I'm also sad about that.....There is so much that Dylan gave to us...
Dylan is UNIQUE ! I love this song among hundreds of Bob' s others ...
Paul McCartney
This song hurts. Dylan can make you feel so much
H
All I can do is sigh......words can not express the depth of this man; Thank you Bob
Being alive at the same time as Dylan must be comparable to the Elizabethans being alive at the same time as Shakespeare !!!
really, Very good thinking! k.
exactly, phil.
Phil Mitchell so grateful I've gotten to see him live
All the time I listen Bob Dylan's songs and I Feel fine. Thanks you so much for sharing all those wonderful songs written by this greatest artist.
People be talkin' 'bout us for centuries!
Every single line is so cleverly and thoughtfully written. Never tire of listening to it, all of the time!
Oh Mercy! Nobody does heartbreak like Bob. So painful, yet so beautiful.
I don’t cheat on myself, I don’t run and hide
Hide from the feelings that are buried inside
I don’t compromise and I don’t pretend
I don’t even care if I ever see her again
Most of the time.
Who else writes that? Absolutely amazing
Perfect ending
An incomparable song, by the best singer around.
Been listening to this song since it came out, only gets better, genius.
Bob's music is like an elixir when you are happy, sad, scared or feeling lonely. This songs is pure perfection and should be played everywhere.
A great song, and great with your terrific selection of still photos, Bob through time, woven into our memories.
What an utterly breathtaking sensual delivery...and the collection of photographs are
bar none, the finest of Dylan.
Thank you Katragew!!!
One of the saddest songs ever. Conjures real emotions every time I hear it. Sends me to a place I remember well.
His voice has all the inflections to express the emotions. I can't get enough of 'Most Of The Time'.
I've been listening to this man since I was 9, most of the time i never knew what his songs meant, all I knew is I could sing along with my transistor radio in hand..its 58 years Later and to be honest there are still many tunes I need explained to me..some of the time..
However, this is not one of them.."MOST OF THE TIME" hits me right between the eyes EVERY TIME I hear it.."SEEN A SHOOTING STAR TONIGHT", another favorite..but there's so damn many..
Heartfelt thanx Bob, God bless you!!!
Most of the time and Shooting Star are my favourites too.
The genius of Bob that unites us in times of loss and heartache. The Master wordsmith.
Dylan has had an effect on me that is immeasurable. A true lyrical genius
Never heard this before. Exactly how many beautiful songs has this man written? Me, too, most of the time....
Unique--a genius----has meant so much to me in my life and articulated what I simply couldn't---thanks Bob.
THE PROPHET.......!!!!!! GOD.....DRIVEN....THOUSANDS OF POETRY...... WITH MUSIC SONGS...THIS IS ONE OF THEM!!!! MANY MORE UNKNOWN!!!

Are you angry if so why ?
Quit shouting, we hear you...
Stop shouting, we hear you...
I can follow the path
He's human... he's just very good. He must have helped a lot of people, including me, and made a difference to the way humanity, and the planet, are heading
Oddly enough, this is my favorite track he ever recorded.
me too
Nothing odd about it. Though not my favourite it is right up there. Too good to not be classified as one of his best ever.
An amazing song. A study in irony.
most of the time!
Definitely one of my top 5.
