My best guess as to why these things didn't make it, giving them the benefit of the doubt... They updated to a newer version of Unreal Engine 5 that whatever assets they were using when they made the trailer, did not update in time for launch or testing. And didn't function so they had to just remove them in order to make a build that functioned at all. This often happens with physics or environmental based assets you can download. They are designed with a specific versions code-base in mind, and functionality changes. To anyone wandering why this seemingly were removed from the game even tho they existed in a trailer, if you ever worked with game engines you would know that simply buying a marketplace asset is not enough to "implement" it into your game (well for the most part), if you buy something on unreal or unity store you need to have a skill level in programming/art in order to implement it into your game and optimise it to the point where your computer doesent explode when trying to run the finished build of the game, developers of day before did not have the technical skill to do so, therefore they could show you the "gameplay" inside the editor but could not transfer it into working build of the game.

What's really sad about the grass movement part is Black Desert Online and Far Cry 4 have both had that feature since like 2015. That's not even new technology. The Day Before isn't even up to the standards of a last-gen game. (Even the parts that exist, which are very few.)
The problem is this. Its easy to make a small scene to look good for a preview but once you need to scale it up to a full game you loose frame rate due to all the stuff and logic in the game. So they remove stuff to get the frame rate playable again. That's why its so bad. LOL
The same guy that made that video comparison you watched also did one where he compared The Day Before with State of Decay 2... You should probably react to that too.
This has the same feels as WarZ/Infestation Stories. Even the same coding/mechanics. I wouldn't be surprised if its the same people under a different name.
how did they make the trailer in the first place? i really wonder, how is it possible to put all these systems in place for the trailer (i.e. mud physics, character animation, lighting) and then remove it from the actual game?
implementing all of these features in a multiplayer setting is a lot different and way more challenging, what you see is not in a multiplayer setting and/or pre-rendered, meaning they don't have to care about actual in game optimisation, when games come out, they use a way lower polygon, simpler models, all of this needs cohesion and its very hard to achieve something that functions well and looks amazing, you need a way bigger developer team for that, they can buy features to make mud mechanics or vaulting just to make the trailer, but then it would be all fucked up and full of bugs if you were to actually use it in a normal gameplay scenario. basically they are creating a perfect scenario in an enclosed space for the trailer, the name for this is "proof of concept"
This is the first time Ive seen game companies actually show built functioning features like a simple vault or vegetation collision and then simply.. remove it? Probably performance issues lol.
I still chuckle about comments saying that everyone who bought this game got scammed. Two things: 1. Steam is giving refunds to anyone that asks, regardless of play time. 2. 9:50 a Keks is German for Cooki btw :)
I'm honestly surprised that they had cars at all in the game.
I (don't) love that the engine for the Hurrican sounds like a lawnmower.
All makes sense now. The Day after is the final product. The Day Before is the concept art.
They released the concept art.
They panic made the trailers first, then put the trailer assets in game and didn't bother to program anything 😂
Servers crashed before launch and this version was the most recent on backup
how did they make the trailer in the first place? i really wonder, how is it possible to put all these systems in place for the trailer (i.e. mud physics, character animation, lighting) and then remove it from the actual game?
Don’t know, maybe they only worked the animation for the trailer
implementing all of these features in a multiplayer setting is a lot different and way more challenging, what you see is not in a multiplayer setting and/or pre-rendered, meaning they don't have to care about actual in game optimisation, when games come out, they use a way lower polygon, simpler models, all of this needs cohesion and its very hard to achieve something that functions well and looks amazing, you need a way bigger developer team for that, they can buy features to make mud mechanics or vaulting just to make the trailer, but then it would be all fucked up and full of bugs if you were to actually use it in a normal gameplay scenario. basically they are creating a perfect scenario in an enclosed space for the trailer, the name for this is "proof of concept"
Say cuh dat lambo lookin scuffed af cuh nah homie
On god on god, forreal forreal. No cap, glizzy slap.
This was one of those rare games where you get more enjoyment out of it by not buying it or playing it.
Lambo sounds like a Lawn Mowers
This is the first time Ive seen game companies actually show built functioning features like a simple vault or vegetation collision and then simply.. remove it? Probably performance issues lol.
This is what I call false advertisement.
I still chuckle about comments saying that everyone who bought this game got scammed. Two things:
1. Steam is giving refunds to anyone that asks, regardless of play time.
2. Steam holds the funds for a game purchase for 30 days in case of situations like this.
So what you should be asking is, "what made these mooks that made The Day Before think they were going to get any money at all?" They scammed themselves.
7:16 that's the sirens from gta sa lmfao
The Day We Got Scam
When trailers looks too good... 😂😂😂
