    THIS is what I love. When a game that normally wouldn’t be on my radar suddenly gets added to my wishlist because of a great review. I’m not a hunter, I went and got an 8 point was I was about 14, but the sitting and waiting all day snd nothing happens just didn’t appeal to me. This game on the other hand seems pretty cool, and I’m going to have to check it out eventually. It sounds like a realistic sim, but not so realistic that you play for ten hours and never see anything (if you’re taking it seriously, and not just blasting “Fred Bear” while driving around the woods in your Willys Jeep). Great review ACG!

    • @connorkenway09
      @connorkenway09 2 года назад +4

      One thing he didn't mention is the game will have difficulty settings going from newbie to ultimate hunting sim. It changes the animal alertness levels, information it gives you on the animal etc and that sounds so much better because it would appeal to both newcomers and veteran hunters.

    • @mclovinirish
      @mclovinirish 2 года назад

      @@connorkenway09 he did say that it’s a game that requires you to get good at it. So I’m guessing no difficulty settings. But he also mentioned the hunters vision. Which I assume makes tracking easier. And is there if you require it.
      I’m going in a total newbie to all things hunting. So I’ll take whatever help the game offers to start with 😂

    • @connorkenway09
      @connorkenway09 2 года назад +1

      @@mclovinirishthere is difficulty settings. It's possible he didn't even find them if he never made it past the tutorial and clicked "choose territory". It ranges from absolutely nonchalant animals to psychotic paranoid so you get to choose your challenge level. Highest difficulty removes the hunter vision so you need to apply all the knowledge that the game gives you of everything hunting. Blood tracks can be tracked without the sense and even with it they mostly glow only if within visible range, meaning that the game character sees them and it hints to you that they're there.

    • @mclovinirish
      @mclovinirish 2 года назад

      @@connorkenway09 yeah I got it at launch. Really enjoying it. Animals can get spooked super easily. I’m down wind, moving like a ninja (or so I think lol). Animals 250m away. Then they all call and run off.
      It’s a new level of challenge I’m enjoying getting to grips with.

      Would a rifle take down a t-rex though?

    • @CthonicSoulChicken
      @CthonicSoulChicken 2 года назад +1

      @@connorkenway09 Absolutely. The rifle in Jurassic Park 2 would have drilled right through its skull. The rifles in Jurassic Park 3 were even bigger--Barret .50 bmg's. They were specially designed in the 80's to be shot over the shoulder like an RPG to engage helicopters. A .50 bmg--particularly an AP or a MK211 round--would shoot through its head and come out its ass. The Jurassic Park movies have LONG portrayed modern weaponry in a completely false light. Which is understandable of course, because otherwise they would be really short movies.

    I've been waiting for this one, glad to hear it holds muster. I had super high hopes and also a great deal of trepidation going into Open Country, which had more bush craft and survival elements and was also way more of a cartoony arcade hunting sim. I would love to see similar survival elements in a more realistic hunting sim like Way of the Hunter. Then I'd really have a stew going.

    I love The Hunter Call of the Wild. There are so few hunting games out there on the market. I don't think we've even seen a Cabela's title in quite some time and they were more of a mixed bag than anything. Dangerous Hunts wasn't too bad. I also love that there is a Fishing game coming from the folks that did "the Hunter" Call of the wild.
    This might just be something I pick up. Noticed in the video that you have a Leupold scope. They actually have licensed gear? That's pretty kickass. I want a game where I can hunt rabbits with a beagle where the dog circles the rabbit. I love small game hunting and have yet to see a game properly replicate that.

    I'm not a fan of these kind of games
    and probably not going to get it.
    But really awesome to see devs put a lot of love into the game.

    Eyyy, I’ve always been interested in the calm satisfaction of hunting, but I’m the type who get’s upset when he kills even a particularly big bug, so I’d love to check this out!

    Awesome to hear this game together, I’ve gotten more and more excited about this as they’ve gotten closer to release. Was this the PC version exclusively or did you get a chance to test out a console version as well?

    An excellent review good sir, but like seriously you put out to the point, no BS amazing consumer/gamer advice reviews and it's some of the best I've seen on RUclips.
    As for the game, it definitely peaks my interest. I tried theHunter: Call of the Wild, but it felt clunky and boring af. I'd rather go hunting IRL, don't mind waiting for hours on end or stalking and learning the prey over days and many miles.

    I have like 1000 hours in call of the wild. Bought the elite edition at cdkeys weeks ago. Thank god they nailed it.

    Great review! Question, can you fully rebind the keyboard key bindings? This is the #1 issue is have with most games.

    Thanks man, great review as usual. I really love the variety in the games you review, and even though I’m not a hunter, this looks mighty impressive. It’s on my wishlist for sure. Hope your having a great day bud!

    They should delete the hud and have more immersion stuff to it, instead of a compass at the top like skyrim the character pulls out an actual compass, or say how many shots he has left and instead of on screen waypoints you rely on the map

      You can turn off hud completely. It was in some of their videos.

    Hope one day they make one where you have a biologist skill tree and you can focus on studying the animals with real world info put into it. Like a BBC documentary as a game.

    I loved Call of the Wild but the bugs, weird spawning and tracking animals in circles through rocks and mountains did sour the absolutely gorgeous visuals. Not sure if this is just RUclips compression or something but this game doesn't look quite as amazing visually as CotW (the areas look gorgeous though) but if it gets your praise for all the rest (along with the visuals) I will definitely add this one to my library.
    As always thanks for the great reviews!
