Cotw is more of a "arcade" type game and WOTH is a more realistic type game so people can choose I'm a hunter irl so I like more of the realistic side so I'll definitely be playing alot of WOTH
What do u mean by more arcade. Also its been a year since u commented this ; has new additional content been added to WOTH that actually makes it more worthy to buying than COTW
@@gigachadicuspriminicus7558 after clicking this nonsense thinking it would be some letsplay and not a review I saw your comment... having about 1k hrs in both games, I agree with the statement that cotw feels less of a simulation and could be discribed as more arcade where woth feels more... well like a simulation both are great games but depending on your taste you might favour one over the other. woth feels to me more realistic, but as a result is more punishing, and slower but also feels a lot more "rewarding" . Personaly due to things like herd management and animals developing/aging over time into better animals (if they have the right genetics) Personaly I by far enjoy woth more and haven't touched cotw much since woth launched. Also Woth seems to have a slightly less agresive sell everything in small pieces dlc policy. I hope it helps now i'm outa here cuz this vid is of little interest to me since I own the game allready
I'm liking what I'm seeing from WOTH and I don't mind the hunting licenses. Just more realistic and adds excitement to hunting new areas. Also the massive view distance and not randomly spooking animals when I pull out items which expansive worlds seems unable or unwilling to fix has me locked with that alone.
big draw distance will be a winner for me, will make walking around exploring and hunting worth while rather than just hoping you stumble across something.
the only thing i dont like is the janky looking shooting but im sure it will get fixed as its early days but yea the render distance makes it super realistic
The percentage on the harvest screen is fitness. It’s basically how good the animals genes were. The one that you killed had bad genes so it was good for you to cull it out of the heard. The best manage your herds, kill the mature 1,2, and 3 stars. Love the vids lady🙂
@George Costanza i mean tracking a elk, shooting an elk, then tracking what sometimes is very little blood to your kill, then carrying the dead elk meat sometimes MILES back to your camp takes a bit of skill id assume...
I kind of not agree. WotH would benefit if more people playing it. They have difficulty system and if there is option for people who need faster gameplay why not? If the core stays for us who love real hunting sim and having option that e.g. my 12 years old child can play, why not?
@George Costanza “American” hunting isn’t real hunting. Also America is a total of two continents. Stop calling the u.s “America” because that’s like falling China “Asia”. I’d love to see you come do some real hunting where you aren’t just hunting over population on reserves. You go weeks in the woods just surviving and hunting small game for food until you can manage to get a moose or something big. Then you need to move it. No not like in the u.s with mf vehicles. You need to butcher it then and there and make many trips. Stop calling it easy when I know for a fact you’ve never done it
I ended up getting both of the games, bought half of the dlc's for COTW, I love the game - its matured fantastically, WOTH - great as well. I absolutely love both of these games - they are so relaxing compared to "normal games". Being restricted on being mobile, these games are a haven for me being able to get into the wild. Just love them and your channel is awesome Lady Legend. Keep up the great work x
Call of the Wild is an ok game, I play it from time to time if i have some time to spare, but i get bored of it fairly quickly. Although the Hunter classic is a much older and less polished game compared to Call of the Wild, I have a lot more fun with it and can play for hours. So I'm really looking forward to buying Way of the Hunter, it seems to be a much more graphically advanced and polished the Hunter classic, at least to me it does, that alone is the biggest selling point and most attractive about it than Call of the Wild.I hope Way of the Hunter does really well so we can have it supported for a long time with new reserves, clothes, dogs and build a huge community around it.
Honestly, I feel as if WotH is already showing much more promise than Call of the Wild. The amount of immersion and realism in WotH is amazing, and I know it's bound for greatness.
Really good comparison video and I feel you nailed it. Likewise I'll be playing both and it's great to see a new top tier hunting game on the market. My only real gripe with WOTH is not having a dog, as I find it more enjoyable having a companion to hunt with, along with the support it provides.
After watching you and other creators play WotH yesterday I am even more excited for the game. I am eagerly waiting for Tuesday so I can try it myself. It is definitely a different game than CoTW. They approach hunting from two directions. From what I have seen, some will like one over the other, but I really believe there is room for both on the hard drive. I know there will be on mine.
@@LadyLegendXO question. Does WotH also have your sight sway while in prone like in CotW? If so that is ridiculous. That is one of my few issues with CotW (aside from getting dc'd from my own multiplayer game that I host).
@@sepheroth3373 IRL there is always sway, even when prone. Aren't you talking about tripods attached to rifles? Those indeed reduce a lot of away, but they are not in the game.
@@sepheroth3373 Yeah, as someone who hunts IRL, I can tell you even when in prone position, your rifle will still sway. Even if you're sitting perfectly still, you'd still have sway from tiny vibrations through the skin produced by your heartbeat. That's why snipers are trained to control their breathing and fire between heartbeats.
@@jasperbean1 I do not sway in RL, but I also have training for holding on a stable stance in any standing or prone position and most in-between. The games are very unrealistic on weapon sway and if you sway this badly in RL please do yourself a favor and see if you can find a course to train you in sniper positioning as any decent course should cover rifle bracing in many positions.
So having put a fair amount of hours into Way of the Hunter now and more than I really want to know into Call of the Wild, as well as hunting in RL since I was about 10 years old, I can say the more action packed one for quick play is Call of the Wild. The more realistic one by faaaar is Way of the Hunter. I was blown away when I saw blood on the leaves, the trees even. The way blood works in Way of the Hunter is very realistic within the confines of a game engine and it's not hard at all if you know what you're doing in real life. So quickly to touch on that. When a deer is running and you've hit an artery the blood spurts, so you have a jet of blood that exits the body and lands in a small puddle on the ground (in a perfect world, in real life sometimes they bleed into the body cavity and there is very little blood even though you've devastated the deer, but I digress) as the deer moves that puddle tapers off, so in Way of the hunter when you see the large part of the blood spatter that's the first of the trail, the drops near the opposite end are the direction the deer was traveling. If you hit the deer good you should have good blood, a trail that has blood markers close together and be able to track it fairly easily. If you hit a deer badly, be prepared to spend some time tracking it. Shot placement is *very* important. I once gut shot a deer at around 1pm and spent the entire afternoon tracking it, found it near evening on the opposite side of the mountain. That fact is very realistic. I'm not sure that you can compare Call of the Wild as what it is now to Way of the Hunter as it is now and do so fairly. I think to be fair you'd have to look at just what is in the base game for Call of the Wild and what is in Way of the Hunter currently because as a new player coming in to get everything Call of the Wild has to offer you're looking at easily over 150 dollars, probably quite a bit more. Way of the Hunter in it's highest edition is only 59.99. When you take the DLC out of Call of the Wild you lose a lot of important stuff, tons of weapons, many of the maps, the dog ect. Personally I like Way of the Hunter better. Oh and I almost forgot about the wounded animations and hit reactions the animals have to getting hit. That really impressed me as well. Call of the Wild is fun no doubt, but they tend to sit on bugs and release more stuff for you to buy instead of fixing them. Duck and Goose hunting comes to mind there. ...and on top of that it's just more arcadey now that I've played Way of the Hunter. Edit to add: There is a grind of sorts in Way of the Hunter. That marking you didn't know the meaning of is fitness. I'm not sure exactly how it works yet, but I do know that if you manage which deer you kill and which ones you leave, as well as the number of females in a herd you can influence the size of the deer that are produced by the herd. This is much closer to RL than going out and killing 1000 deer just for one that... honestly is horrificly mutated to spawn.
I like both of them but my preference is for Way of the Hunter. As a Steyr Arms fan, this is magnificent to have Steyr licence and others brand like Remington. Cherry on top of the cake, we have a little dlc with others Steyr rifles and my dream sniper rifle: the Steyr SSG M1 😍 I cross my fingers to have Sako in a future for WOTH if it possible. Call of the Wild is great too with the M1 Garand, Mosin Nagant, Flintstock rifle. Thanks for you video and have great hunt.
can you imagine if they do an Africa map so far I think way of the hunter wins just so much more realistic hopefully they add tree stands and you can increase the lodge size
COTW map updates = bugs, 75k for a rifle? same rifle in WotH? 3900$, 16k for a tent? branded rifles vs generic, I'd rather have branded rifles and scopes to choose from. I'm absolutely looking forward to WotH, now playing it on my 5 year old ROG? well that might need some tweaking of the video options but it will replace cotw, the 1 thing that just made me give up completely on cotw was the lack of foresight into releasing a new map when it creates bugs (fast travel to swiss mountain anyone?).
The Way of the Hunter is a game that you dedicate your day off to. Call of the Wild is the game you play briefly after dinner, before going to bed. I have no idea if the developers aimed for these two very distinct types of games, but they nailed them both.
Photo Mode! If it hasn't been mentioned in comments already. That;s a big difference. Taking point of view live, out of character and seeing many angles and animations is soooo cool! Anyone know how far from character the photo mode can go? because if thats not limited id use that all the time when spotting a buck and going into photo-mode to size up his rack better! :)
I'm definitely interested in giving WotH a try! I think both definitely have their highlights but I dig the idea of a more realistic hunting experience.
@@unitor699industries no it's not in way of the hunter you cant run around full speed blasting a animal ever minute like in call of the wild in way of the hunter a bullet will go through the animal like in real life in way of the hunter tracks arnt hugely highlighted in blue in way of the hunter you cant shoot a animal in the antler and kill it like in cotw I love both games but way of the hunter is way more realistic call of the wild is more of a arcade I love both but you does anyone think cotw is more realistic
I was actually a bit disappointed with COTW when I started playing it. I felt they went more in the arcade route and that's why I have always preferred The Hunter Classic over COTW. WOTH to me seems like a upgraded version of the classic and is more what I'm looking for in a hunting game, slower paced, more strategy and IMO the WOTHs animal models and AI look much better to me (other than the ducks).
@@ColeSlayz this game just came out I doubt it's just as popular day one as one of the only hunting games out after 5 years. And it will have a hard time competing because it's not an arcade shooter where you can just shoot animals left and right and have a "grind" to get a generated great one instead being more realistic and having to manage a herd to get big animals if this game still has support after 5 years like cotw I'm sure the graphics and realism will dwarf that of cotw.
I think the icon you question about is fitness. Also, I'm looking forward to this game (already pre-purchased) because it fits more of my style of hunting. I still haven't done a grind at all in COTW because I prefer walking around and finding animals while I walk, so I don't stick around need zones at all.
The generics go for taking out the smaller, older, sickly animals so that your have bigger and better animals on the map. Goes into the conservation side of hunting of making sure that the best ones live on and make more just like our better than themselves.
@@sepheroth3373 basically like u take out the smaller , older , sickly so your healthy animals can mate and have healthy babies that can grow up and hopefully be a big boy lol I'm guessing that's how it works idk
@@sepheroth3373 makes me wonder how long in-game this effect takes to be realised. Be a bit of a pain if your 100hrs in before you start getting actual trophy kills for a single species.
As someone who played COTW for +200 hours, after meeting WOTH, I could not look COTW in the face again. WOth real hunting game. Much more realistic and enjoyable gameplay. WOTH animal behavior will amaze you. It is an awesome simulation game. At the same time, the nature and animal sounds in the game are awesome. The game just got a whole lot better with the newly released Africa DLC.
If COTW would add multiple way-points and only show selected species zones that would make great one grinding much more appealing to me. I mostly just free roam hunt since the missions are stalled with bugs and thousands of kills is a long stretch for someone who can devote a few hours a week to the game.
I saw that when shooting with a mouse if you dont let up on the left mouse after the shot you will not chamber the next round which is nice if you make a shot dont chamber right away so you can follow the deer through your scope to see where it goes. if you chamber right away you may miss the direction of the deer fleeing
If I’m being completely honest, start out with COTW. As you progress and learn the ins and outs, only then give WOTH a try, as it can be overwhelming for new players! You will enjoy COTW a ton!
I've preordered the elite addition and I'm so excited it's crazy, I reckon this game is awesome and will definitely be a challenge but I like the slow pace this game has. That symbol is about genetics/DNA the bigger the % the better the animal
I've watched several reviews for woth. Everyone states it's in the same league as cotw. I will definitely get the woth but i dont think im going to enjoy it as much as cotw. Cotw is just more rewarding to me. If u put in the work, and the research, u r rewarded with more trophy animals. I am still new to cotw especially in comparison to lady, but i didn't start enjoying the game until i began to understand it thnx to watching lady, ibuy, and several other streamer's u tube vids on the game explaining it. I went from bagging a few animals a day using a simple tracking method to bagging tons of animals. And i got to say im addicted to cotw. And while woth hunter offers a much more realistic approach to hunting, i dont think woth will be able to compete with cotw in terms of reward for ur countless hrs and hard work. Now that everything has been laid out for me in cotw, i know how to increase my chances of getting diamonds and great ones. In woth, maybe it's because it's brand new, it feels like finding the truly rare and trophy animals worth writing home about will be behind nothing but chance. I spent years in cotw just hunting hoping one day a great one would pop up. After only recently discovering "the grind" herd stacking and management, im not sure i could go back to mundanely tracking and setting up near a need zone hoping a herd comes through. Dont get me wrong, im going to play woth, but unless it shows me something special, or has a way of rewarding u fir all the realistic time u put into the game, i don't think it will match cotw for me. But who knows maybe getting a 5 star in woth will be easier than cotw in some way, once ppl really start delving into the game and unraveling its secrets. Bottom line, if i wanted a realistic hunt where I'd probably spend all day just to bag an 8 point white tail for the day, I'd go and hunt in real life.
I've pre-ordered on Xbox mainly because it's made specifically for next gen consoles. I've got nearly all the DLC for COTW on PC and have spent many hours playing. But I've become disillusioned with the devs as they seem more intent on making DLC for money before fixing the bugs. Last map has a really bad bug that stops the main mission continuing, which should have been fixed by now but I guess they are concentrating on more ways to get cash from the players 😥. Hope THQ are better.
There is a separate department for bugs and new content. They don't just concentrate on one over the other. That's an oversimplification. Over the past year, EW has come a long way in fixing COTW. It's not perfect but it's way better than it used to be. Just my opinion
Nothing is fixed for Xbox. Now the deer sink in the water because they stand in the water up to their neck to drink and your hands are your binos now. The Chamois have just about disappeared on the map. The 300 shoots blanks too. And the list goes on.
@@nannyoverzet1954 yup and let's not forget about the shotgun bug with zeroing perk ("feature" available only on caversham and cacciatore). I don't even know what to do when EW decide to add a new map.... to be sad because the whole game will be filled up with all sort of bugs or to be happy because of the new content... . On xbox at this moment (series s), the antialiasing option doesn't even work like it used to do before the new map (I HATE THAT MAP).
I love the tracking on WOTH. I moose hunt every open season irl and sometimes they run so far from where they were shot before going down that you have to find them.
I would guess the DNA symbol is what percent of the deer's genetic potential reached. Your buck was at 61% percent, so it could've gotten 39% bigger if he reached his "prime" maturity. Kinda cool feature
@@LadyLegendXO it’s mean how good that animals genetic are. If an animal is mature it will not get much bigger so if there’s a 1 star mature buck he’s gonna have bad genetics so he’s not that big even if he’s fully grown. If you see a 2 or 3 star adult buck he still has time to grow and has not reached his full potential and matured so he will have good genetics and will be a 4 or 5 star when he matures. I have seen 2 star adult mule deer that have 99.7 percent genetics but we’re shot too early and not let matured to reach the full potential of a 4 or 5 star. I suggest not shooting young animals because it hard to tell if they will have good genetics because they are almost alway 1 stars. Never shoot big adult animals because they still have room to grow and get even bigger. Also keeping high star and genetic animals in herds will produce more high genetic and star in that herd. Also never shoot females because killing female will cause that herd to produce less new young animals
I tweak the settings in Call of the Wild to be more immersive and realistic. If Way of the Hunter caters to a more hardcore experience, that will naturally become my favorite. I love CotW as it's own game, though. One may be a jump in and play style, and the other might be more for a longer immersive session.
There actually is a way to grind in wotw, you shoot only the matures with 1 star and a 2 star mature might become a 5 star if your in its primary habit depending on what animal your planning on grinding, you just gotta sleep a whole bunch and it’s quite time consuming, but I personally like finding 5 stars just out in about without the added work of grinding them!. But also thank you for sending me the link to this wonderful video ❤
The good thing is that the games are not clones, which would be bad. The dynamics are completely different and there are many details that are a revelation and are very welcome. The only thing that bothers me about all this is the change in dynamics if you play COTW and start WOTH, it takes a little time to adapt and vice versa.
Great vid you nailed it, i bought WOTH and i must say i like the slow paced realistic hunting. one thing you didnt mention,... in way of the hunter you have the herd management mechanic, meaning that the animals dont spawn randomly, they form groups and they stay in game (i killed a white tail deer yesterday and found out that i shot it before but it survived). so that being said you can manipulate the genetics of the herd by killing the weak ones and having a chance a higher rated animal spawn later on the herd. Does this mechanic also excists in cotw?
Both games are great. However in WOTH the realism is soooo nice, especially the animal models and animations. Having whitetail, Mule deer, elk and moose on the same map is wonderful, definitely something we need in COTW. I have to mention the aging system in WOTH. To watch an animal that you think could be a giant someday and turn into that giant is remarkable. In summary if you are looking for something easier and more like an arcade play COTW, if you want high level realism play WOTH.
I really hope this game is everything it looks like it is and more. I began playing COTW in 2017 and have really never let up. I began playing without aid skills and all tracks off. The game does not provide you with enough external clues to play without some of those aids and skills, so I now play with some on but never level my tracking cone so it is more realistic. I also play with the animal sound visual aid off and use the surround sound in my headset. Totally love LadyLegend, but based on what I've seen I do not want THQ to add hunting pressure markings or make tracking easier outside of adding a dog as aid. Sometimes COTW can seem like you are stacking bodies. I mean, I drop less bodies in AC: Valhalla. I am ok if this is just more of a sim experience and COTW is geared toward harvesting more kills.
@@LadyLegendXO Why not? I mean are you saying that you only have 30 ish minutes per day to play? And why is not one animal per hour enough? If you dont enjoy the actual HUNTING aspect then there is CotW where you can bag 10 animals in the same amount of time and don't have to track at all. Very silly and unrealistic but it's there. Besides WotH starts you off where you last were, so it's all one long session. It's not like in CotW where you have to get it done in that session.
A tip that can help you track an animal you've shot, is the blood spatter actually points to where it's running towards. For instance, you'll see specs of blood towards the direction the animal ran off to. It will be a small pool that turns into specs indicating that the blood has fallen in that direction similarly to real life. Hope it helps!
Lady, I’ve pre-ordered WOTH, and I made it a mission to get both a red deer and whitetail GO before August the 16th. I got 2 red deer GOs in approx. 1,000 kills total. And I just got my whitetail GO this morning in less than 1,100 kills.. I’ve NEVER been that lucky with RNG! I watch all of your videos and I love your content!
Huge bummer there’s no bows in WOTH. I’m a big fan of bow hunting and love the options in cotw. I hope they bring some bow dlc. It would be awesome to have a “bow workshop” where you get a basic compound or recurve and can upgrade it piece by piece.
I've lost a lot of interest in CoTW since the big upgrade. I would have been happier if they blacked out the map when the changed the zones. Looks like something new would return some interest. BTW good comparison review , as always.
I would've liked to see a comparison on animal behavior and variety per species. I understand that CoTW didn't have much variety back during it's release but in today's CoTW, almost every animal you shoot feels different from the last due to variations in fur, size and antler design thanks to TruRACS. I rarely ever feel like any two animals are copy + paste in CoTW. As for how the animals behave, in CoTW it all depends on what your hunting and the level of that animal. A level 2 moose will be an easier hunt than a level 5 moose and same goes for every other animal in CoTW. Side note: animals will interact with each other ie; predators will attack other animals (rare and animations can use work) Also weapons and gear, in CoTW you have handguns and bows/crossbows which give you a different experience in your hunting expeditions, you also have bird/buck/slug rounds for shotguns. Duck blinds, tree stands, tents, decoys ECT... Lastly, like 80% of CoTW is somewhat locked behind a microtransaction like different reserves, lodges, companions, weapons and gear but they don't cost that much usually like $3-10. Also worth noting you can play the reserve DLCs through MP for free which is a fantastic feature. Don't get me wrong, I can praise CoTW all day but I do have a bucket of things I don't like too. I can't wait to play WoTH and see what it becomes. I have high hopes that THQ Nordic does an amazing job with it like EW did with CoTW.
I bought WOTH two days ago, and first impressions are that my eyes prefer cotw graphics (I need to focus a lot more in woth), you see more animals in cotw and it is easier to find tracks and zones (since hunter sense only works when you are not moving) I was also a little disappointed by the animal graphics (like when you claim or tax) - it wasnt as sharp as I expected. My eyes percieve it as high quality but kind of smudged? That's just my opinion. Still a fun game, but more challenging - plus I have not played for long so maybe my opinion changes
I pre-ordered Way of the Hunter as soon as the option was available. one difference you missed with the maps is that the maps in Way of the Hunter are much larger than the maps in Call of the Wild. Also, there is a difference in how you would approach hunting in both of these games due to how the respawns/herd management works. Still a very good comparison.
You apply with the developers. They give it to content creators who are able to promote their game and put it in front of a large audience to create hype, excitement and sales!
I recently purchased COTW after playing it on gamepass. I can't believe i didn't even know about this game. I am absolutely am addicted to the game. I just wanted to say that i enjoy your content and will become a member when i get through my divorce. I don't even get enough of MY money to survive through each week. Since i've been playing COTW, I've actually been able to stretch my money. I am paying for her to survive, but i can't, doesn't sound right to me. Anyway, sorry about that, keep up the awesome content and I hope you and your family have a blessed year. Oh, and i wil definately be buying The way of the Hunter, when i can afford it. Might be a while, but I have to play it. Sorry about the long, too much info, message. I don't usually get on and post messages but you're fun to watch and listen to, and very helpful. I've been playing COTW for about 2 months and just got my 1st diamond. It was an Iberian Wolf. Pretty cool, I was stoked when it happen.
Hey Robby! Sorry to hear about your divorce! Life is not easy but you're right, this game is so much fun and as cheap a hobby as you can get! Congrats on your first diamond! I didn't get any diamonds my first year so you're killing it! I hope things get easier for you and look forward to seeing you around!
You don't have to track if you just shoot it correctly which is what the game is trying to teach you. Ethical shots, get a heart shot, double lung, artery, etc itll drop almost instantly.
I want a dog and bigger hunting lodges in WOTH.Theres no much room for what you showed so we will have to choose very carefully what we display. Looking good, but I think am going to struggle to track the blood, if I manage to shoot something on the 1st place, would be horrible not to find your kill .
I actually really like the difficulty of tracking. Just a reminder. WOTH is not an arcade game. IRL it's one of the hardest challenges to track your kill and I really think they nailed it here. I do think they should include an easier mode of tracking just for the ones that don't like the difficulty or even for the ones that have a visual impairment.
Flinter another RUclipsr who plays COTW for years now actually is struggling with tracking as well. in one of his vids he shot a deer the session before and lost it. the next game session he actually stumbled on it and only lost a few coin on the harvest. The amount of money for taxidermy in WOTH is also quite expensive for bigger animals so consideration is a must it seems
@@LadyLegendXO hey how u doing. I jus wanted to ask you can u tell the devs can they work on putting WOTH on consoles , I'm the future? Xbox one, Xbox S/X , PlayStations? I know they listen to your feedback. U have the voice for gaming community. It might work lol. (Keep me posted please)
Tracking sounds like a pain. I like that you return to where you were at in WOTH instead of a lodge like COTW. Free time change is cool. Road kill...gotta love it lol. The first time I ran into a critter on COTW it almost killed me. At 15:45 the lodge can be expanded in WOTW by one of the perks called collector... 30% more space
Yes they are both beautiful but you can't compare some things to cotw to this game because woth is a next gen game with a next gen engine and cotw is an old engine that looks great
Got a comparison idea for a call of the wild video in the future. The drilling’s 9.5mm rifle round vs the 7mm magnum. Both have identical stats but they feel different.
that was super informative! i still can't decide on which game to buy as someone who occasionally deer hunts but this has swayed me toward way of the hunter as someone that wants as much information about hunting from a sim as possible! thanks for making this
Great video and very informative. I’ll prolly get WOTH just because the “arcadey” feel to TH-COTW has just pushed me away slowly. Not that it’s not a great game I’m just more into the “hardcore” simulator style of games. Thank you
The thing that you said you didn’t understand in the animal info section is how pure the animal is. If an animals parents were a mule and a whitetail then it will either be considered a mule or a whitetail and it will say 50 percent because it is a 50 percent dna of that animal
It doesn’t really seem like competition. Merely fitting a different niche. I’d say it’s more of a realistic vibe than COTW which is more casual. Could definitely see myself switching between the two depending on my mood
I like the looks of WOTH but as I came late to the COTW party and bought all of the content, I reckon I will play COTW for a long time. I barely scratched the surface at 400 hours in game. Then, when WOTH will get polished and expanded, I will give it a go. I do hope they make animals look more realistic. Those steroid pumped moose look ridiculous. In a bad way.
Well, from my lot of hours spent playing CotW, animals in WotH are superior. The amount of details is definitely on side of WotH. But of course this is completely subjective opinion.
In way of the hunter they should add a wrist mounted gps, something like the garmin foretexs, they leave a "bread crumb trail" and you can drop way points and stuff. Would be cool to see.
WOTH>COTW Way of the hunter has surpassed cotw in almost every way possible. I am big on immersion and good graphics are a key factor for me. WOTH graphics are 10x better than COTW, which isn't surprising since its a far newer game.
I'll get WOTH when they add more weapons, animals, and special/rare fur types. One of my favorite things about COTW is finding a diamond animal and having it be an extremely rare fur type. I also wish WOTH had different ammo types. I know in COTW you always go with penetration over expansion, but at least the option to experiment is there. I also wish your shots mattered in WOTH. What's the point in having that massive draw distance if missing at that range has no effect on your wallet because you can just go back to the jeep or outpost and tada! you're full on ammo again?
The rare fur types is not something you run across often at all so I don't think they are going to be adding all that in since this is a simulator and not an arcade shooter like cotw
@@loganhill6601 Let's be honest, neither games are simulators, which is a good thing imo. Woth has more realistic aspects to it, but by no means is it a simulator. As someone who hunts irl, I don't want a perfect simulation of hunting when I do it every year anyway. I know everyone's experience is different, but where I'm from and the areas I hunt, I won't see animals for days, so I'd hate to have that same experience in my hunting games. Since both games have similar gameplay loops (running around until you find a herd), why not add rare fur types? It gives players something to strive for, which is key for something like this. And I know woth is brand new and cotw has had 5 years of development so maybe that's something they do plan to add in and why I'm reserving judgement until I see where they take it.
@@TheIcarusFalls I can agree with that it is something many people would like and no its not just like real life its just more realistic than running full speed up to a herd of 50+ animals and are able to shoot them up... idk where you hunt but I've also hunted irl since I was about 10-12 years old and I can probably count on both hands the amount of times I've went without seeing an animal through a whole day but I'm spoiled amd in the thousands of deer and turkey I've hunted I've seen 1 albino turkey and 1 albino deer which turned out escaped from a pen on a local farm that was my only reasoning behind not thinking we would see it but I just saw in their coming updates unique and rare fur type animals are coming
Rendering distance of animals is a big difference between the two hunting sims. I've already clearly seen and taken down many animals in way of the hunter at 900 yards distance. Ballistics are superb as to bullet drop and wind drift as well as bullet energy dumped into the animals at various distance and resultant trauma experienced therefrom. Excellent damage stats available to review upon animal harvest . Crisp clear massive hunting environments to keep you busy for years.
When it comes to hunting games theirs two sides. An Arcady easy hunting game and a hardcore true to life hunting game. In my opinion when I hear a hunting game I think of a true to life realistic slow pace style game. Imo it’s more challenging which makes it so much fun. Now in my opinion I think this game has such a strong foundation and only time will tell how good it can get. This game has %1,000 potential on being better than COTW. It’s still a nice game but cotw is for the other side of the pond player. Fast pace and easy. Coming from a hunter this WOTH looks really promising and a better alternative than cotw for those seeking a challenge or atleast for me.
I hunt deer every season. Way of the Hunter isn’t realistic at all. Call of the Wild is much more true to the real hunting experience despite having some “arcade” aspects.
@@DoctorSess interesting well like I stated at the end “for me atleast” what I’m getting at tho is COTW is really predictable and feels like cabelas pro hunts. Although it can be challenging it’s more so a run n gun game. I hunt Mulies here in California and jacks. My attention stirs more to WOTH. But I’m interested why you think WOTH is not realistic at all and why COTW is? Maybe I’m missing something
@@Trilliano see I think it’s the exact opposite and that way of the hunter is less realistic and more arcade style. I randomly find a huge herd of deer with trophy bucks every single time in Way of the Hunter so far whereas in Call of the Wild that’s much more rare. It takes a lot more focus and actual work to hunt deer in Call of the Wild - at least the way I play with the highlights and everything turned off. It’s a much more immersive experience as of right now. Also, the tracking is bugged on Way of the Hunter. I’ve had multiple blood trails actually disappear. Hopefully they improve Way of the Hunter over the next few months.
@@DoctorSess yea that’s exactly how I play COTW. Mainly because I want to play classic so bad but I don’t want to go out my way to get a pc. But trophy bucks as in 5stars? I must be doing something wrong😂I only find 3 stars. But another thing that bugs me is the animal placement in COTW. I feel like it’s a little too zone based as in drinking zones. One thing I like bout WOTH is bighorn/mountain goat hunting. Maybe that’s just my thing I love mountain hunting. And I can’t really do that in COTW mainly because it doesn’t feel like I’m in alpine terrain when hunting mountain goats and bighorn in srp.
@LadyLegendXO can you ruin trophies in WOTH by shooting a small fox with a bazooka? or do i always want to shoot my animals with the biggest gun i can get my hands on to ensure a fast kill?
Way of the hunter is so much more realistic and i love that!! Never was a huge fan of COTW.. im digging WOTH right now, such a cool game and soo immersive
I have both. I think the way of the hunter is way more realistic. I dont like the easy trail spotting in call of the wild. But i do like the variety of weapons and equipment in COTW. Overal... yes i do like it more then COTW. But i hope there will be more coming to this game like more weapons and ammotypes and stands ect ect.
Yeah the render distance in Cotw has become a real nail in the eye for me. One would think such a fairly new game would have a better one. especially since u'r given quest tasks for distances beyond 400 m. This alone might be the selling factor for WotH. Great info Lady
COTW you can render up to 850M safely, outside that the game code is not designed to work properly, though you need a mod, in theory if the devs werent trying to shaft folks making mods COTW could handle 2-3km render on PC without much problem... so way of the hunter being so limited... kind of doesnt make sense, other then they looked at COTW and said, "just make it a little better" and then use the extra hardware performance to tank poor optimization as is standard for almost every AAA game post 2005.
The icon you weren't sure about relates to genetics, so is probably the fitness of the animal. It's mentioned that to get decent trophy animals you can manage your herds by taking out the animals with lower fitness first; though over time this could be a negative due to all animals ageing in WotH
WOTH- very realistic, long traveling, need a lot of patience. but very rewarding. COTW- arcade-ish style semi-realistic 'run n gun' Both are great games and both have their respective places in the hunting community. I'm excited for the the Angler game coming out, too.
I appreciate that you see the differences of the game style and don't just complain that one is harder and you don't like it these are completely different games that different players are going to push to one side or the other you can't compare 1 for 1
5:50-7:00 thats what differentiates it as a simulation game and not an arcade. Cotw holds your hand makes everything super easy and is not very realistic, WotH you have to track your animal like in real life and visually memorize where you shot it and actually watch it as it runs off to get a good idea of direction etc I find it an amazing system, makes the game more challenging and having to track the animal adds to the realism for me.
Way of the hunter is fun. Bought it for my x/s new to the genre. Played a bit of call of the wild but never got into like with way of the hunter. A nevbie so struggling with finding those wild ducks for the story mission atm
Absolutely love, love, love!!! ... that you can customize map display of need zones. CoTW map is so 'busy' with things like rabbit need zones. Love how with WotH you can get an idea where to hunt at a glance with other zones turned off :) Anyone know if rangefinder reticles and other colors in display can be changed to different color? I am colorblind Red/Green (super challenging IRL hunting!). What things can and cannot be changed?
@@LadyLegendXO Do you know how far from character photo mode can take you? Hopefully far so you can get a better look at a buck you are debating on shooting ;)
Should EW invest in a CURRENT gen upgrade, even paid like everything else they release, it would be an easy clap win. Just increase the render distance, boost the framerate to 60 and you have a finished product. With so many animals, maps and all sorts of features. Way of the hunter is great but in many ways feels unfinished. Hopefully they keep adding new things and not just maps ans animals.
Also I would like to add you left out a lot of important things in this comparison! Way of the Hunter does not have,Tree Stands,Tripods,Tents or Ground Blinds! Which I find very disappointing!
The EW team is currently upgrading Call of the wild for next gen systems. You have to keep this is mind when comparing these games. Once call of the wild gets upgraded it will once again be king! I truly believe that! Everything will be improved from graphics to framerates to render distance!!
@@morsecode5078 Jaxy was talking about it in a live stream they did when they was showing off the new map revontuli coast! Jaxy is a manager for the Call of the wild dev team and A fan asked him about it in the live stream and he said the teams are looking into next gen consoles and seeing what in all they can do because they want Call of the wild to be the best game in its category he said just because they haven't announced anything officially on Twitter yet that doesnt mean the teams aren't working to upgrade the game to next gen! So with him saying that he is basically saying its getting upgraded and if you look back at history when the xbox one x came out and ps4 pro the game got upgraded for those systems and I have to say CAll of the wild on xbox one vs xbox one x. Xbox one x blows xbox one version out of the water!! The xbox one x version is even better than the ps4 pro version! So yeah I cant wait for it to release on next gen systems because it will definitely be a dream come true!
Cotw is more of a "arcade" type game and WOTH is a more realistic type game so people can choose I'm a hunter irl so I like more of the realistic side so I'll definitely be playing alot of WOTH
Nee fok .. cotw..all the way.. Suid-Afrika !!

@@gigachadicuspriminicus7558 Just render distance itself is the reason i would never play COTW.

Thanks!!!
You shouldn't kill 3 star matures. It can become a 5 star.
hopefully they dont dumb this game down for ppl who dont know how to hunt
Hopefully not!
@George Costanza yeah hunting isnt really easy haha
Keep up the great work x
perfectly said
I know your comment is over a year old but which game should I get in your opinion
I think WOTH will be very successful!
Honestly, I feel as if WotH is already showing much more promise than Call of the Wild. The amount of immersion and realism in WotH is amazing, and I know it's bound for greatness.
They’re very different style games
Really good comparison video and I feel you nailed it. Likewise I'll be playing both and it's great to see a new top tier hunting game on the market. My only real gripe with WOTH is not having a dog, as I find it more enjoyable having a companion to hunt with, along with the support it provides.
Thanks so much and I agree! I'd love to have a tracking dog in WOTH! Maybe in the future!
That's awesome Dave! For sure!
I'm sold
Thanks for sharing! Great info! I'm just learning to be an irl hunter! Been out several times but have never killed anything (yet)!
You could use multiple waypoints when tracking blood or footprints to give you a good idea of the direction an animal is heading in.
I like both of them but my preference is for Way of the Hunter. As a Steyr Arms fan, this is magnificent to have Steyr licence and others brand like Remington. Cherry on top of the cake, we have a little dlc with others Steyr rifles and my dream sniper rifle: the Steyr SSG M1 😍
I cross my fingers to have Sako in a future for WOTH if it possible.
It's WAY easier to make cash in COTW than in WOTH. I can kill 100 animals in the time it takes me to harvest 5 in WOTH so it's not a fair comparison.
After WOTH patches and polishes minor things in the game and then comes out with DLC’s/ bows, this game is really gonna feel even more incredible.
For sure!
I'm definitely interested in giving WotH a try! I think both definitely have their highlights but I dig the idea of a more realistic hunting experience.

I was actually a bit disappointed with COTW when I started playing it. I felt they went more in the arcade route and that's why I have always preferred The Hunter Classic over COTW. WOTH to me seems like a upgraded version of the classic and is more what I'm looking for in a hunting game, slower paced, more strategy and IMO the WOTHs animal models and AI look much better to me (other than the ducks).

well COTW has been the most popular hunting game in the last 4 years , so im assuming not everybody shared the same opinion as u 😂
Yeah, it’s genetics
Yeah, it's genetics. I'm not sure how this works, but apparently, you can somehow breed the animals for higher quality, or something to that effect?
100% agree on the tracking for WOTH having both the blood indicator and the needs indicator the same colour makes it very difficult to track
For sure!
I saw that when shooting with a mouse if you dont let up on the left mouse after the shot you will not chamber the next round which is nice if you make a shot dont chamber right away so you can follow the deer through your scope to see where it goes. if you chamber right away you may miss the direction of the deer fleeing
I'll try holding the ps5 "R2" button on my next shot! Thanks!
I have never played a hunting game before but I’m willing to give it a shot, which one should I play?
If I’m being completely honest, start out with COTW. As you progress and learn the ins and outs, only then give WOTH a try, as it can be overwhelming for new players!
You will enjoy COTW a ton!
I've preordered the elite addition and I'm so excited it's crazy, I reckon this game is awesome and will definitely be a challenge but I like the slow pace this game has.
That symbol is about genetics/DNA the bigger the % the better the animal
Thanks Jinxy! I actually like this game WAY more than I expected to! Can’t wait for you to play it and get your opinion!!!
Is it a good game?
Just my opinion
and years later they still havent fixed the glitch where you crouch and use binoculars at the same time your character flips 180 degrees
@@Erik-ce3hq I don't have that issue. Kinda weird that I don't but
Nothing is fixed for Xbox.
I am really liking how way of the hunter is looking so far I think a Africa map would be so cool
That would be INSANE!!!
I would guess the DNA symbol is what percent of the deer's genetic potential reached. Your buck was at 61% percent, so it could've gotten 39% bigger if he reached his "prime" maturity. Kinda cool feature
Very cool! Thanks!
That’s not what it means, it mean of the genetic potential of it in general
Do you know how many people can coop Xbox series s/x
I believe for the Xbox it's only two at this time.

Very true beha! They're totally different games! But they're both a lot of fun! I'll be playing both!
No animals respawn bigger or smaller in COTW
The tracking is rough. At least as a new player. I don’t want to track for 30 minutes irl. I just don’t have the time.
Thank you so much Gum_man08! Good luck! You can do it!
@@LadyLegendXO already did! Mission complete! 👍
Huge bummer there’s no bows in WOTH. I’m a big fan of bow hunting and love the options in cotw. I hope they bring some bow dlc. It would be awesome to have a “bow workshop” where you get a basic compound or recurve and can upgrade it piece by piece.
I believe there will be a bows dlc coming for WOTH!
need muzzleloaders too, I'd be content with using nothing but bows and muzzleloaders lol
I personally think Call of the Wild looks way better, the animals should get a touch up, but it's nature is way more realistic.
How do you use the calls different sounds!? So frustrating some say they have multiple sounds but I only get one…and what’s the white bar for!?
Bought and played both of them. WoTH is much much better. Bigger maps, better graphics, more realistic hunting, more intelligent animals. ❤
that trophy lodge you got in call of the wild made me smile involuntarily 😂
I just noticed there were not any bow hunting in Way Of The Hunter, don't do it very often but was curious if it was included.
There wlnt be at launch but the devs may add it as a DLC later on
They mentioned on Discord that bows are coming later. Not being in the release.
I've lost a lot of interest in CoTW since the big upgrade. I would have been happier if they blacked out the map when the changed the zones. Looks like something new would return some interest.
BTW good comparison review , as always.
Thanks and I'm sorry to hear that
I really like the genetics aspect to woth being able to cull bucks and watch bigger ones grow is a great feature
Definitely!
Side note: animals will interact with each other ie; predators will attack other animals (rare and animations can use work)
Also weapons and gear, in CoTW you have handguns and bows/crossbows which give you a different experience in your hunting expeditions, you also have bird/buck/slug rounds for shotguns.
I bought WOTH two days ago, and first impressions are that my eyes prefer cotw graphics (I need to focus a lot more in woth), you see more animals in cotw and it is easier to find tracks and zones (since hunter sense only works when you are not moving)
I was also a little disappointed by the animal graphics (like when you claim or tax) - it wasnt as sharp as I expected.
I don't know if this wasn't a thing 2 years ago, but you can actually mark a spot using binoculars in COTW pressing the R key.
How does one get early access?
You apply with the developers. They give it to content creators who are able to promote their game and put it in front of a large audience to create hype, excitement and sales!
How do you apply? Appreciate your content
LLXOXO
Another great video lady. I always love watching and learning.
Thank you so much Suthrn!!!
Very informative review. Keep up the good work.
Much appreciated!
Hey will woth come out on Xbox one s or do they have plans to release it on it
They said XBox Series S & X
Can u ask them is they will
I recently purchased COTW after playing it on gamepass.
For the I buy strat. How many 9 legendary would I want to keep on the map, before shooting them?
You don't have to track if you just shoot it correctly which is what the game is trying to teach you. Ethical shots, get a heart shot, double lung, artery, etc itll drop almost instantly.
No one gets a perfect shot every single time
@@LadyLegendXO I do
So is WOTH the way to go when purchasing one of these. Just got ps5 so thinking it would be better? And opinions please?
How do you place the Waypoint??
I want a dog and bigger hunting lodges in WOTH.Theres no much room for what you showed so we will have to choose very carefully what we display.
Looking good, but I think am going to struggle to track the blood, if I manage to shoot something on the 1st place, would be horrible not to find your kill .
The tracking is very frustrating!
@@LadyLegendXO I would mention it in feedback on Discord. They are listening there and also react to feedback. Hope they will improve it.
I pre-purchased the elite pack 2 months ago and couldn't be happier that I did, can't wait for tuesday, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
Hope you enjoy it!
My main thing I hope they add is handguns and bows like cotw I love hunting with them and they just mix it up a bit
So COTH has been out how many years? It's pretty polished. Now comparing COTH it's 1st week to TWOH now. Is it at least as good?
that was super informative! i still can't decide on which game to buy as someone who occasionally deer hunts but this has swayed me toward way of the hunter as someone that wants as much information about hunting from a sim as possible! thanks for making this
I’d recommend COTW myself
@@LadyLegendXO yeah we can tell, your whole video you were walking on eggshells when it came time to concede that woth has better features than cotw
Just a recommendation is it possible for you to upload to at least 1080p instead of 720p?
I thought I was. My defaults changed on my editor without me noticing. Maybe from an update. Not sure. It's fixed now.
@@LadyLegendXO Thank you :) and I'm also really enjoying your content keep up the good work!
Is there an updated version of this video now that the game has been out for longer ?
No
Great video and very informative. I’ll prolly get WOTH just because the “arcadey” feel to TH-COTW has just pushed me away slowly. Not that it’s not a great game I’m just more into the “hardcore” simulator style of games.
Thank you
Thanks!
The thing that you said you didn’t understand in the animal info section is how pure the animal is. If an animals parents were a mule and a whitetail then it will either be considered a mule or a whitetail and it will say 50 percent because it is a 50 percent dna of that animal
And then there is me still playing Classic :). But it is nice to see a nes game with more realistic approach than COTW.
It doesn’t really seem like competition. Merely fitting a different niche. I’d say it’s more of a realistic vibe than COTW which is more casual. Could definitely see myself switching between the two depending on my mood
Absolutely!! Almost like comparing apples to oranges
But of course this is completely subjective opinion.
a rare wise one here.
Thq nordic is the publisher, not the developer team. And I prepurchased the game elite version immediately after I saw one video from Flinter.
In way of the hunter they should add a wrist mounted gps, something like the garmin foretexs, they leave a "bread crumb trail" and you can drop way points and stuff. Would be cool to see.
WOTH>COTW
Way of the hunter has surpassed cotw in almost every way possible.
@@TheIcarusFalls I think I saw actually everything you were asking for is going to be added within the next couple months along with 2 more maps
Tbh I feel like way of the hunter feels more smooth with the animals and just looks better graphically
Are the need zones set the same spot for every game/player or random like in COTW?
I can’t sleep I’m so excited lol I bought elite edition 4 days ago can’t wait !!!!😁
Hope you enjoy it!
You can definitely ruin them. Each weapon has a class - match it to the class of the animals in the encyclopedia
Way of the hunter is so much more realistic and i love that!! Never was a huge fan of COTW.. im digging WOTH right now, such a cool game and soo immersive
Walking through logs is realistic huh
I have both. I think the way of the hunter is way more realistic. I dont like the easy trail spotting in call of the wild. But i do like the variety of weapons and equipment in COTW. Overal... yes i do like it more then COTW. But i hope there will be more coming to this game like more weapons and ammotypes and stands ect ect.
Turn it off then
Yeah the render distance in Cotw has become a real nail in the eye for me.
The rifles zero up to 1km.
COTW- arcade-ish style semi-realistic 'run n gun'
Both are great games and both have their respective places in the hunting community.
I'm excited for the the Angler game coming out, too.
I appreciate that you see the differences of the game style and don't just complain that one is harder and you don't like it these are completely different games that different players are going to push to one side or the other you can't compare 1 for 1
Would you recommend a newbie starting call of the wild this late I’m thinking of getting both of these games
Absolutely! Call of the Wild will always be my favourite!!!
@@LadyLegendXO ty
Love how with WotH you can get an idea where to hunt at a glance with other zones turned off :)
Anyone know if rangefinder reticles and other colors in display can be changed to different color? I am colorblind Red/Green (super challenging IRL hunting!). What things can and cannot be changed?
Exciting right!?! There is a lot of customization in the game! Not sure about binos. So much to learn and figure out!
@@LadyLegendXO Do you know how far from character photo mode can take you? Hopefully far so you can get a better look at a buck you are debating on shooting ;)
can you change the distance from metres to Yards?
Should EW invest in a CURRENT gen upgrade, even paid like everything else they release, it would be an easy clap win. Just increase the render distance, boost the framerate to 60 and you have a finished product. With so many animals, maps and all sorts of features. Way of the hunter is great but in many ways feels unfinished. Hopefully they keep adding new things and not just maps ans animals.
Also I would like to add you left out a lot of important things in this comparison! Way of the Hunter does not have,Tree Stands,Tripods,Tents or Ground Blinds! Which I find very disappointing!
Yet*
The EW team is currently upgrading Call of the wild for next gen systems. You have to keep this is mind when comparing these games. Once call of the wild gets upgraded it will once again be king! I truly believe that! Everything will be improved from graphics to framerates to render distance!!
So cotw only getting upgrade for new gen and not old gen??
They are 2 very different games. I’ll be playing both! COTW will always be my fave ❤️
That sucks 😔
Where did you hear that they were upgrading COTW for the newer consoles? That would be a dream come true..
