    Superformance powder works really well with the 147 match 45.3 grains at 2825 feet per second is the best I have come up with of all the powders that works with the creedmoor

    Perhaps you mentioned it and I missed it, but what length barrel are you shooting these in, and is this the same firearm used for all your 6.5 Creedmoor load development? Thanks in advance for your input and looking forward to 6.5 PRC development.

    Glad to see some info on the 147 gr bullet. Reloader 16 is a very interesting powder.

    Thanks so very much for shooting the heavier 147 Grain projectile. I have been waiting for data with Reloder 16 and heavier than 142 grain to be published. Good idea showing the data with the worst shot removed fm the group. I'm working with 260 Rem.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      This is just a good shooting projectile, no doubt. I can't remove the nut behind the trigger, so I am trying to evaluate other methods of doing that.

    @MrAnythinggood 6 лет назад +1

    When are you going to do a load test with H4831SC with the 147gr ELD? Very accurate powder for that bullet. Currently using that for 260rem and 6.5 creed would be a nice to see a test done with magnum primers.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      Certainly not a bad idea.... it doesn't have the fastest velocity compared to others but it sierra says it can go 2700 with the 150 smk.

  • @gclaytony
    @gclaytony 6 лет назад

    Based on what I'm going through at the moment, have you checked for variation if the CBTO length? Until I acquired my bullet comparator, I would not have dreamed that a solid setup would through the magnitude of variations that I'm experiencing (and working to find/eliminate the cause).

    Impressive results! On the 5th shot you dropped from each group for the best 4 out of 5, was their any rhyme or reason that you noticed for the outlier, if you could call it that, especially in the first couple of groups? Also, as a suggestion, it would be helpful to see all the groups together at one time at least once, maybe at the end, to easily compare/contrast and analyze poi shifts, etc. Great work! Btw, Gavin at Ultimate Reloader mentioned in his last video that he’s doing a 10 round load development in his next video.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks.... No specific reason, It just seems that the shots seemed to cluster best 4 of 5. Nothing more frustrating when looking at a great group in the scope and the fool behind the trigger can't deliver. Even keeping the 5 shots the lower velocity change is a keeper. I quit putting all the groups on the same page cause it makes the groups so small to see at the same time. Maybe I will try that out in the future. Almost 60% of my audience is on mobile so I try to keep them in mind that it is basically impossible to see all the groups on a 5" screen, but maybe I will try and start doing a overall.
      I did see that Ultimate Reloader was going to do something like that but I guess we sill see. My interest is figuring out how to do it for myself. There just isn't enough detail (I love detail) in the 6.5 guys video on the reloading process and how he gets there. I think some guys think that you are just going to take range brass and perform that test. You really need to grasp all of the brass prep that you actually have (not optional) to do to get a good, consistent, repeatable load. Without all of those its not going to do any good.

    Have you experienced any first shot velocity drop or inconsistencies?
    I know Johnny has experienced some of these issues just curious of you see similiar traits though onviously not as much judging by standard deviation.
    Just a note of my own finding. I find the Lapua brass either handles pressure better or hides it better. I've shot 42.6 grs. of imr 4451 in lapua cases with BR4 primer and started to see ejectlr marks, meanwhile 3 shots 41.2 of 4451 in federal cases w/ federal 210M's caused a flattened primer and a separated primer w/ very obvious ejector marks.
    I'll be throwing my federal brass away after my findings. Gonna try some hornady or peterson large rifle cases

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад +2

      Hey Matt, actually the opposite. My first shot is always a higher velocity. Always. I usually cold bore with factory rounds and see a 50+ fps shift between rounds 1 and 2. If you looking for LRP Brass don't forget Sig. I am excited to see how mine holds up.

    Great video it's good information and keep up the good videos. Have you tried any of the imr 4451. I picked up a 1# of 760, a 1# of IMR 4451, and two pounds of h4350 yesterday. I'm looking forward to working up some loads with the 4451 since I can easily find it in my area.

    • @BoltActionReloading

      I haven't tried 4451, I have some more powders coming with this 147 though.

    Read that RL-16 is significantly dirtier than 4350. Could be the decoppering agent? If so would RL-16 be viable against 4350 and other powders such as RL-26? I haven't settled which powder for RPR 6.5 CM yet.

      Reloder 16 works very well. No guarantee it will be best for your rig, but I wouldn't see why it wouldn't.

    I also have that problem with every load from 130 to 147 gr. I also have RPR. Always four in 1/2 inch an 1 out to an inch or tad more.

    Thanks for the video. I always use cci magnum primer and have yet the pierce a primer with Lapua brass. I also found that I get more velocity with less pressure using RL26 and the 147g ELD-M.

      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the comment Ron. I have had some cratering with the CCI 450s as well. I found some CCI 41s to give them a shot. I am nervous that the Statistics won't be as good though. Wont know unless we try it out I guess.

      Getting 2814fps 9SD 0.35 5 shot group at 100 yrd with 47g of RL26 in a 24" barrel. Remember to work up your loads to find the node for your rifle. With the Area 419 Hellfire, I can manage recoil and keep my sight on target with the 147g.

    Hey kind of a big question... there are like no videos of anyone loading a 95gr Hornady v max in the 6.5 creedmoor and was wondering if you had any insight for this bullet. I plan on loading some with rl-15 but would also like to see someone else's results. Anyway you could do a video for this particular load? Thanks

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      To be fair I have done one with the 100gr eld-m and varget. Hornady load data is the same for these 2 bullets. Obviously do what you like but I would pick varget or something more temperature insensitive than RL 15. I know it works well for a lot of people. If you wanted to see the 100 eld video it's here. Forgive the quality it's old. ruclips.net/video/UoPnBw8DmZQ/видео.html

    • @shadmeacham3164
      @shadmeacham3164 6 лет назад

      Bolt Action Reloading I actually did watch this video and was thinking about varget but went with rl-15. I had a friend who was using the 100gr match and was shooting pretty much the same hole with 3 shot groups. So the 95 should perform roughly the same then?

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      For velocity it should be close, for groups who knows. I don't mind shooting light bullets, but it's the opposite end of what a lot of guys are interested in. For 6.5 creedmoor. Most guys consider the 120 class bullets light, and with RL 26 you can push the 130 class to about 3000 fps, so I think a lot of guys don't see a reason to shoot the light bullets. 6.5 grendel for sure, but 6.5 creedmoor not as much. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the channel.

    • @shadmeacham3164
      @shadmeacham3164 6 лет назад

      Bolt Action Reloading thanks for all the input. I chose the 95s mainly for small game like coyotes and such. I don't plan on pushing the velocity to much so I'm not burning up my barrel with a fast load.

    42.5gr Norma URP gives me 2870fps with the ELD-M 147gr (zero pressure signs, 30F temp). 28" barrel in 6.5CM.

    Just wondering what die you use for lapua brass with the .059 flash hole

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад +1

      I decap on a separate step with a Redding decapping die, resize with a forster with no expander and set neck with a Sinclair turning mandrel.

    Try the Barnes match burners I'm getting killer accuracy

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      Thing is I am having great luck with the 147 and 140 from Hornady. Looking at the Barnes the BC is .586 vs .61. If the Hornadys didn't shoot so well I would try them in a minute, but I cant shoot as good as the Hornadys shoot and the BC is higher.

    Nice! Pretty tough to pierce Remmy 7.5. Kinda surprised. See all that experimenting pays off

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      JRB had them happen to him as well. I think that if I had the firing pin hole in the bolt bushed it helps this, but really not sure whats entailed. I may go that route someday but am going to try the CCI 41 first

    • @mikeeikey1072
      @mikeeikey1072 6 лет назад

      Bolt Action Reloading I saw some today at a gun show. They should be a little tougher. Honestly, your probably a little over on pressure if the 7.5 isn't defective but not much. It's so temp stable I would be comfortable shooting it a little hotter

    I've been looking for my sweet load for my Savage BA 6.5 Creed for some time. I was going to try the 147's but I don't see the need over 140' ELD M. Thanks for the info.

    • @BoltActionReloading
      @BoltActionReloading  6 лет назад

      Both are good choices honestly. I think at distance the 147s have a little benefit assuming you get the velocity high enough .

      I actually have all 3 of those in stock just now so I am sure they will find there way into testing.

      I am using the 450s in Lapua brass. IIRC I went to 43.0 grains of RL16 in testing but couldn't find the node I was looking for. I have no issues with piercing or cratering, but I'm running a lower charge (42.2) and different bullet (140 RDF).
