Yeah they weren't main characters in the beginning but developed roles. In the pilot you'll notice theyre introduced along a woman who never again appears in the show

I actually like how scully and hitchcock arent really forgotten in the show ik they don't get as much screentime as the others but they're just as important......I love the episode when Rosa came out as bi and her family cancelled game night bcos of it and then jake arranges family game night but with her coworkers and i really like how scully and hitchcock were there... they have a purpose in the show like they haven't been put there just cos ..this one of the many reasons I like this show

B99 is wholesome because they finally took the Butt Of Every Joke character (Jerry/Gary, Toby, etc) and gave them enough dignity that you don't feel bad for laughing at them. Hitchcock and Scully may be gross, stupid, and perverse, but they like themselves that way and they have each other's back. And that's how you take an old, lazy, cringe-y trope and make it one of the funniest dynamics in the show.

Have you even seen Parks and Rec? Let me tell you something about Gary Gengurch - he was strong enough to take handle all the insults. He had his perfect family was good at a lot of things and well aware of that. He never needed the recognition because he was humble. He was the anti-Tom, which is why everyone loved him (and everyone hated Tom). Sure he was bumbly in he office but the show went out of its way to make sure everyone knows that this isn't how he actually is - and that everyone knows that HE knows that's not how he is.
I LIKE LARRY. HE'S A GOOD FRIEND. And a fine man with an inexplicably gorgeous wife. (Ben's the standin for the audience btw. He's the only one that gets how stupid Lil Sebastian is and that Terry is awesome.)

I remembered Jake passed Hitchcock and Scully one of his hardest cases coz he was on a slump and a few moments later Hitchcock and Scully arrested a lot of criminals in that case. This duo were never slumps. Salute Michael and Norm
They're actually amazing cops but in an episode when Jake works with them. They reveal they are lazy/terrible on purpose so they don't have to do any work.
