Went to our grandpa's 101 Birthday party yesterday, and today is my Birthday. We will be getting on that last train someday. Let's make everyday count. Live a great life while you can!
“Train travel like life, people come aboard, and some depart at the next stop never to see them again...’and you never know what’s around the bend. It’s a short ride. Enjoy every minute of it.
This song has made me both sad, and happy. I'm sad that many of our loved ones have died, but happy for there impact on us, and the people around them. It's very crazy how a song can trigger with no lyrics gives all of us a different story to tell, Thank you for hearing me out.
My wife loved the relaxed travel of the train and this brings back fond memories of her. I succumbed to cancer 2 years ago and all these memories come back with the passage of this music.
You're right this song is both happy and sad I listened to this as I travel by Amtrak to NC to visit my Mom and Dad during their sickness they've passed on now and I have this song to remind me of the times Thanks Mr Matheny ❤
I remember back in the 80's when I went on this adventure with an Egyptian friend, my grandson, a friend of his, and a French guy we met along the way. We all had to fight this abnormal vampire who stole my grand father's body and it was amazing on many levels. We met so many people I was followed by a woman who thought I was her type and attacked me later... Rest in peace Joseph Joestar (Unshō Ishizuka)...
When I was a kid my mom used to take me watch trains go by... she has passed almost 27 years now... every time I hear this piece it just brings back bitter sweet memories!
Wow, I'm so amazed that they still run those old steam engines. You talk about a beloved slice of Old Americana. And great heartwarming music to boot.Makes you yearn for the days when so many great things happened in this country. Back when politics didn't poison the well of togetherness like it does today.Enjoy life.
The voices herald the rising of the sun while the rest of the song steadily travels through a contiguous twilight - one season to the next. What an absolute masterpiece of music.
my uncle was killed on this day by some young thuggs who had nothing better to do. we sent him back home where he was born and this song is appropriate for his era of growing up, it's so sad but soothing. R.I.P. Uncle, we'll get them and make them pay. Their song will be "It aint hard to say goodbye,"
@@kevinwilson2082 Thank you Kev, for such kind and soothing words, may you and your family live a long happy life, once again thank you for your kind condolence and soothing words. God Bless you and yours.
When I hear trains I feel solace and the continuity of life still goes on through all its treks, one continuous at times an arduous path. Trains cars are joined together and move through life in harmony they are simply designed that way.
I know and have experienced these old engines. This music depicts the feeling I had of the olden days. You younger folks will never know that. I also have feelings for this music when I took a train to get home after my active duty days in the Navy
I ask myself the same question, it should be a song that brings joy with its beauty and yet it doesn't for me. And I love trains too. Even discounting the comments filled with JoJo references/spoilers, the music and trains should be uplifting. I only felt this way after finishing JoJo Part 3 too.
@@BB_Sebring Brian, I'm a senior citizen and I had no idea what everyone was referring to re Jo Jo. Never heard of that genre, so this song did not refer my brain to that at all.
sweetg12651 the term is bittersweet. and jojo is animated Japanese show that has 8 parts and is filled with musical references and if it wasn’t for that show I would of never and probably many others would of found this beauty of a song
as a senior citizen I remember these old steam engine trains. They were majestic when you saw one. I've seen the transition from steam locomotives to todays railroad engines. Fond memories as a child.
1:50 Love it so peaceful minds me the old times and of course, it does bring tears to the eyes and how blessed you are to be able to listen to what day you are. I'm proud to say I'm 67 years old and love. It makes my pressure go down, LOL.❤
This must be the long version 9 minutes or pure ecstasy. I remember being just blown away in the 90's when I first heard it. it may be the "last" train but for me it was like the last of the first movement into a higher level of being. I was 40 yrs old and filled with hope and expectation. Its a beautiful world.
I know this tune has been around for a while, but hope Metheny is getting a lot of attention (and making a lot of money) on this - such a beautiful and evocative melody.
Elle me rend témoin de moi même, des moments magiques qu elle me fait revivre comme pour me faire pleurer, en même temps qu elle console. Elle sublime ce que la vie a de plus cruel: sa beauté.

Many many thanks to you Enza Pavanelli . . This stands out head and shoulders , the footage , the music and that rhythm and bass .and not forgetting Mays and Metheny . Brilliant . OK I'v had whisky but still brilliant ........
This song really gave me the courage to cry, having losing my friend who died. As much as this is amazing I'm JoJo, it really just made me weep and remember my friend who passed of cancer. Life's not fair, but I wouldn't change it. It's what made me who I am today, we may not be able to keep those around us permanently, but they never truly go away.... Not in our hearts
This song holds many memories...In the 80s,, i was 17 when a evil spirit possessed me, and i was in prison for fighting with some kids,,, then my grandfather went there with a Egyptian friend of his and i went home, i met another student like me in my school that day, he was a bad guy at first but then he became my friend, then my mother fell ill... We only had 50 days to revive her, so we 4 men set out to that one bizarre adventure, in the way, we ran across a french man with toilet disaster and a damned dog who liked coffee flavoured gum,, all 6 of us went to defeat a 121 years old gay vampire, we ran across many peoples like us in there who had the same type of evil spirit possessing them like my one. In the end...only 3 peoples could make it back. With only 3 tickets.... Now I'm 34 with a daughter... The french man is a turtle and my old man is still standing,,, even if the universe resets, i doubt that it would be enough to take him down...
How you do it... write a beautifully descriptive song about something so unique to America and so loved, when you are an absolute master at your craft. Keep on, Pat. You have much beautiful music yet to write and share with us. And rest well, Lyle... we will miss you. 💔💕
