Wasn't Page 25 or 26 when he wrote this? Hard to believe someone in their 20s could do so much. Compose, produce, and perform......truly amazing.

      JPPage 100%!
He was basically a genius at school and when he found himself doing sessions, the inner nerd came out and he learnt everything he could about the whole process. Combine that with his playing ability and the result can be heard in the entire Zeppelin catalogue. Absolutely timeless

We often say that the 20's is the physical prime of men, but I also think it's the intellectual and creative prime too. The Beatles wrote most of their songs in their 20's and we won't even talk about classical music composers

Page didn’t start from scratch on this. It was essentially a remake of “Never” by Moby Grape. Plant was a big fan of theirs.

      actually it helped a lot
i never thought of Fm scale being played even though i knew it was one of the chords. i always thought the whole solo was pretty much all Cm scale but it explains a lot about the live versions of this song specifically the one in 1994 no quarter show.
i couldnt figure out why he was playing the same licks as he did in Cm except he was playing them 6 frets up the neck from Cm pentatonic box 1 which would put him in Fm pentatonic box 1 which now makes sense he was just playing the Fm scale over the Fm chord.
Thanks a whole bunch again dude u rock !!!!

Since i've been loving this tune my whole life, and trying to play it just as long... What your explaining is seriously helping! wish the video was longer! Not that great at Guitar theory, but I know where the pentatonic scales are, wondered what the difference was when other people try to teach this song and you did it in a way, sink or swim sort of way that all of a sudden made the whole song make sense to me. Now with much practice I may someday be able to play it with out the lack of confidence that has Clouded me for so long. Thank you!

Your in depth vids on the methods of Page, Clapton, etc... really has been a help on my own playing, and allowed me to get more creative with my own blues style. Thanks, man! Confidence is the biggest key to any blues improv. I play sloppy a lot lol, but so did Page and it always sounded great. Feel really influences the emotion of what's being played. It's not really the notes (although they're important too), but more of the way the notes are picked.
