You have to go to Frankfurt if they make it to the Europa League Semifinal. European knockout matches in Frankfurt is probably one of the best atmosphere you can see in Germany.

From Canada, went to Berlin for 4 months in 2015. Union were 2nd division, but living in East Berlin, we went and cheered them on as much as we could. Tickets were dirt cheap as well. It's wonderful to see them doing so well, 7 years later. Go Eisern Union!!

Maybe Hertha will get relegated now, but promoted back to Bundesliga after next season then. In football you just need the right coach and the right players in the pitch to succed and so Hertha maybe should take look on their coach and players who could be replaced for better players.

I went to the Olympia Stadion in 2019 I think it was to watch an entertaining 2-2 draw between Hertha Berlin and Schalke on a Friday night. Outside of the UK I have been to matches in Germany, Italy and Spain. Everywhere was a good experience although Germany tops the list in terms of going to games abroad. It's a great fan culture over there and the football is also good as well.

unfortunately, the stadium from hertha is pretty shit for the athmosphäre. would recommend going to frankfurt or even better a top match of the second bundesliga. hamburg derby (pauli - hsv), rostock - dresden, rostock - st. pauli, dresden - st. pauli for example. if kaiserslautern and magdeburg get up you can also watch matches of those against other teams with good fans
@@iceyy0998 the Hertha fans behind the goal were good and sung all game. Schalke had brought a few thousand fans and were opposite end of the ground to me. I could clearly tell they were singing by the way they were moving about although I couldn't hear them often. That just demonstrates that the acoustics of the ground aren't great

i'm a Union Berlin Fan and i'm absolutely tickled pink about this derby win. But at the same time I feel bad for the Hertha Fans. They put off such a party for this joke of a team that wears the blue and white. I personally want hertha to succeed and remain in the Bundesliga, just for the fans' sake. But this team they have is making it so hard. An Absolute shame.

Hertha bsc in the mud….. last year Schalke 04 got relegated to Bundesliga 2, now another big German club could go down, sad to see.

You could go to the Europa League match between West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt. So the game would be easily reachable for you because it is in England. The Frankfurt fans are also among the best in all of Germany, so you only have to look at the pictures from the Camp Nou in Barcelona. 30.000 Frankfurt fans were there.

You should go watch the Stockholm Derby! The first one of the season will be on the 24th of April between AIK and Djurgårdens IF. Both founded in 1891, so there is deep hatred between the two.
Fun fact:
Union Berlin actually came to Stockholm to play a friendly against Djurgårdens IF in 2014, and fans from both sides ended up storming the pitch and confronting each other by throwing flares and whatnot.

Tele2arena. Hammarby. Best fans in Sweden and Scandinavia! And the tele2arena is smaller and gives better atmosphere than the bigger Friends. Friends sucks. I don't say that AIKfans sucks, the Friendsarena just swallow the sound in a not nice way. Hammarby-AIK, Hammarby-Djurgardens, Djurgardens-Hammarby or Djurgardens-AIK in Tele2arena would be a better pick than the Friendsderbies.

I was in the away end for the game as my first ever game in Germany, and have to say German football and more importantly German fans are some of the best in the world. What an atmosphere from both teams! This is a must watch for any football fan it’s a different kind of game
It‘s just sad that you can‘t really hear the other side of the stadium. In the away end it‘s hard to hear Hertha and from the Ostkurve you can‘t hear the away section. We need a new stadium

Next season you can go to the 2. Bundesliga match between Dynamo Dresden and Hansa Rostock if Dresden manages to stay in the 2. Bundesliga. The game is called "Ostderby" because both clubs were clubs of East Germany. The fans of both teams are definitely among the best in Germany. Please go there.
As an English man and a newcastle united fan and absolutely love to play against this club because both sets of fans from us and them oh it would be absolutely crazy I'd love to have this team play in a European competition oh god that would be amazing
Geographically, you may call it a derby because both clubs are Berlin based. But remember that, before the German reunification and many years after, those two clubs have never faced each other. Union was mainly playing in the 3rd or 2nd tier after reunification, they even spent one season in the 4th tier before becoming a regular participant of the 2. Bundesliga and then making it to the all-German top flight for the very first time a few years ago.
Hertha BSC is a club from West Berlin, so they have always been a part of the Western German Bundesliga while Berlin was seperated in two parts. In contrast, Union as a club from the East has been a member of the DDR-Oberliga, the highest level in GDR football until 1990. Actually, Union's fiercest rival before reunification in the DDR-Oberliga was BFC Dynamo, a club which was heavily supported by the GDR regime as their 'flagship' in Eastern Berlin, so BFC Dynamo (not to be confused with Dynamo Dresden) have won many titles in the DDR-Oberliga and had the best East German players in their squad such as Andreas Thom or Thomas Doll, while Union and its fans had the reputation of rather rejecting the GDR's political system.
P.S. BFC Dynamo is now playing in the Regionalliga (4th level of the German football pyramid).
The songtext from the first chant you were singing with them is: From spandau to Hellersdorf, from Wedding to Neuköln, from Zehlendorf to JWD, there is only Herta BSC; so remember one thing for all time and never forget it: Unioner come from Köpenik, Hertaner from Berlin!

You should attend to the Copenhagen new firm derby next year. Its F.C.Copenhagen against Brøndby if. This year Away fans have been banned for the next 2 derby's, because the fans have made so much chaos. This is also why you should wait till next year to see it were away fans is allowed again. The atmosphere is also extremely intense, matches often get paused due to all the pyro the fans are using.
I've been to FC Kaiserslautern - 1860 Munich in 2019 while visiting a Friend. Third league match. 40.000 visitors and it was so loud i had a tinnitus for the rest of the day

The Hertha spirit has never reached me, although I was often taken to the stadium in my youth and almost all my buddies are Herthans.
I would like to invite you to enjoy a home game at the Alte Försterei at Union Berlin.
This constant bitching around Berlin's number 1 is also annoying but for many Herthaner that is the most important thing ever. I do not like the derby's at all.
We celebrate our team after every defeat and remain in the 2 or 3 league tret. Losing we know and can.
What some Hertha fans have done here in the end is an absolute disgrace.

I say check out the Hamburg derby,
May not be as big but the Regionalliga Nordost has BFC Dynamo, Berliner AK, Hertha BSC II, Tennis Borussia Berlin, SV Lichtenberg, & Tasmania Berlin, so you can check out one of those Berlin derbies (at a cheaper cost too). Let's not forget in that same league, you have the Leipzig derby you can check out. Neither team seem set to be promoted or relegated so you can check it out next season if anything.

You definitly should visit the Signal Iduna Park from BVB. The atmosphere is incredible. Maybe be VFL Bochum. The game is a kind of a derby. But the real derby is BVB vs. Schalke04, wich is 1st in the second Bundesliga at the moment.

Nice to see that stadium full. Not always the case. As an American who first went to Stadion An der Alten Foresterei in 2001 on one of my many trips to Berlin and visits to Union matches, it is great to see such a quality rivalry. I also hope Herta stays in the first division. Eisern Union!
