Yeah. As a Berliner, I'd say it was quite to the point and accurate. The quality is comparable to the huge budget documentaries on Netflix. One note for that English Berliner though: even though he looked very self-assured, Döner Kebap wasn't invented in Berlin. Döner has been made in Turkey for centuries and Kebap is like the general name for the Turkish dishes. What was invented in Berlin is putting the Döner in bread only, which was an invention to adapt to the hectic city life in which people don't have much time to eat or just eat "on the way - Unterwegs". This coming from a Turk, who has made quite some research on the subject :D
@@tolga9388 I agree with your reference to the quality being similar to a Netflix documentary. But a documentary about football doesn't need all that Netflix money thrown at it. It just needs passionate fans who know their history to speak as part of it.

Eli, I've been a fan since Red Star v Partizan. You outdo yourself each time. Fair play, my man. You're becoming a legend on here.

Honestly possibly the best series on the entire platform. The production on every episode is fantastic and every time this show manages to create such an immense feeling. In awe of it. Thank you Eli and Tino!
Derby Days are some of the best docs on RUclips, but this one just raised the bar to unbelievable heights. This is absolutely world class stuff and should have every kind of award thrown after it! I'm sad to see that the younger supporters are leaning into a hateful rivalry rather than a friendly one, because there is already so much tension and hate in football. Just imagine how beautiful it could've been if both Herta and Union stayed up in the Bundesliga with a friendly rivalry where they met as friends, despite being in a city that has been divided for so many decades!
I don't hate Union. I'm 50. I'm somewhere in the middle of it. I had good chats with a bit of back and forth friendly banter with Union Fans ( the only unsympathetic fans were some of the younger fans online and a young female fan in the S-Bahn who acted like Herthafans were worthless peasants and Union is a superior Club who looks down on Hertha (that was in a time where both clubs played 1.Liga). And both clubs had to deal with problems. Union in the GDR as the red headed stepchild of the GDR and being held down by Stasi General (?) Erich Mielke in favor of his favorite club BFC Dynamo, Hertha in recent years for being the Big City Club and having an Investor. Sometimes it was just outright unfair being labeled as the Great Big Bad and Union as the lily white hero when it wasn't all black and white, rather grey. That's the reason why I don't hate Union, but I'm also not totally fond of them.
I'm Scottish but I love union berlin and I chose to support german football over Scottish football not only because of how amazing the culture and the fans are but also how friendly they are and it saddens me to think about the possible antagonistic future of berlin football culture.
2000: Hertha played in the 2nd Group Stage of the Champions League while Union were champions of the Regionalliga Nordost. 2023: Union about to play their maiden season in the Champions League while Hertha are in the 2. Bundesliga. This funny old game of ours, I love it 😁
2024: Union barely escape relegation and have a sporting director who’s involved in an extreme political Party Hertha: Happy with their lot and rediscovering themselves Funny old game isn’t it 😊
I’m currently signed ill off work, and this is the perfect mix of football, history, culture, and IMMACULATE filmmaking I needed to help me through. Thank you guys! Subscribed, and can’t wait to watch more.
This is fantastic. Real football, unlike the sanitised version you see elsewhere, passion, true passion, true Berlin. The soundtrack really captures Berlin also.
This episode was great, the history part of Berlin was most interesting to me as I've only heard of it fromn teachers. But to actually hear from the citizens of Berlin was just special. I've been watching Union in the Bundesliga this season and they are actually quite a team to watch. Respect to Copa 90 as once again made a very great episode of Derby Days.
Tasmania are legendary to every Bundesliga fan. just 10 Points in 34 Games! 2 wins 4 draws 28 losses in the 1965/66 season! Total noones, but still, in their first game that season, they had 81,000 fans watching them in the Olympiastadion!
@@joni_sge1135 Bollocks. Tas actually is one of a kind in Germany. There are no other clubs named Tasmania in Germany. The guys who started the club wanted a cool sounding, exotic name and Tasmania was the place farthest away from Berlin they could think of.
Now this video I can hardly wait for. I am starting to take much more notice of Union Berlin cause they seem like they have a soul still despite being in top flight football. And that is just so rare to see in these days.
Thats why so much people in Berlin doesnt like Union. Union wants to present theirselves as a unique club, as a "workersclub". So many people find it so annoying
@@snssssns409 See that statement is not really true. It's mostly the media portraying us that way. We don't care about that though, we just wanna support our team and enjoy good football.
Thats the reason why Union is so hated. They always betray themselves to be this "cool and alternative" club. And they can't stop talking about how they build their own stadium for example even though 99% who brag about it didn't do anything. When Union were in the second/ third league they weren't special at all. Hertha is the real club in Berlin.
Dude. I'm not even into football just got fed this by the algorithm, this is legit one of the best original videos I've seen on youtube. fucking good work to everyone that worked on this.

thanks for showing us Berliner football culture ! I had no clue of all these clubs, history and culture ! That's awesome that's real football :) cheers from Paris
This is what a build up is like, the pace of this Derby Days is incredible you go from the Football diversity in Berlin to its history and building slowly back by adding Football relatet History events. And then go back to the Derby. And Eli really builds the emotions up and the needs to watch it till the end. Just wow! Much Love for all Contributers to this great Documentary.
I’M LOVING THIS NEW SEASON! Derby Days never dissapoints, this new episode was about the history of a city analysed through it’s football scene, this episode just makes me want to visit Berlin in all of its glory. But Berliners, BEWARE, unity should be what this Derby is all about, I’m from Uruguay and my team Nacional (biggest side in the country and one of South America’s biggest teams, as well as one of the biggest teams in the world) won against our bitter rival Peñarol during the championship final, during our celebrations near our Club, a Peñarol fan opened fire towards a Nacional crowd and killed a 37 old boy and injured another fan, just out of pure hatred. Hate is not the way to go Berlin, here in Montevideo we are neck deep into it, you guys have the time to stop it.
this documentary makes me want to emigrate to berlin. Two clubs with such diverse cultures, yet they still try to be neighbors. Top notch work, and really, i have watched this documentary over 5 times and still get goosebumps at how they love their city, and their clubs. Union stadium has to be on my bucket list.

First of all thanks for this amazing episode. Couldnt wait for it. It'll be interesting to see how the berlin derby develops in the nearer future. Just imagine how beautiful it could've been if both Herta and Union stayed up in the Bundesliga with a friendly rivalry where they met as friends, despite being in a city that has been divided for so many decades!
i am 62 and i hate union
i am a hertha fan and 62 its not just the younger generation who hates them
I don't hate Union.
Union Hippster Club
Fun Fact: the Rapper representing Hertha narrated the german version of FIFA Street
I think FIFA street 02 (?)
2000: Hertha played in the 2nd Group Stage of the Champions League while Union were champions of the Regionalliga Nordost.
2023: Union about to play their maiden season in the Champions League while Hertha are in the 2. Bundesliga.
This funny old game of ours, I love it 😁
2024: Union barely escape relegation and have a sporting director who’s involved in an extreme political
Party
Hertha: Happy with their lot and rediscovering themselves
Funny old game isn’t it 😊
I’m currently signed ill off work, and this is the perfect mix of football, history, culture, and IMMACULATE filmmaking I needed to help me through. Thank you guys! Subscribed, and can’t wait to watch more.
Was waiting for this. It's finally here!
This is better than anything on TV right now
This is one of the best videos of I’ve ever seen about football, but even more so about Berlin. Beautifully done, host/creators/producers!
So out of this video, finally a Tasmanian football club playing in the German Division, GREAT!!! Forget A League, just stay playing in Germany.
Tasmania has actually nothing to do with the Island. There are dozens of german Clubs called like this.
@@joni_sge1135 you don't say Sherlock
Tasmania are legendary to every Bundesliga fan. just 10 Points in 34 Games! 2 wins 4 draws 28 losses in the 1965/66 season! Total noones, but still, in their first game that season, they had 81,000 fans watching them in the Olympiastadion!
Joni_SGE
Good going Mcbain
That’s the Joke
JakeStanleyTravel Union is still the number one in Berlin ;)
@@Uhrensohn289 Union (Köpenick) doesnt count to Berlin. Köpenick is part of Brandenburg
The past two episodes really have gone up a notch video wise. Well done guys 👍
This made me start my FM Hertha save, 12 years in and 8 Titles 2 Champions Leagues 6 Finals appearances 6 DFB POKALS
And a Ballen D’or winning German Striker who was the World Cup top scorer at the heart of the team
Dude. I'm not even into football just got fed this by the algorithm, this is legit one of the best original videos I've seen on youtube. fucking good work to everyone that worked on this.
I really never comment on videos. But this video, the editing, the music is just perfect!!
Awesome documentary. I moved to Berlin almost a year ago. I love the atmosphere here and going to matches.
The camera work in the Derby Days episodes is just amazing.
Spent the last 12 weeks going through each derby days episode and have to say that they are utterly superb, i would love to see more in East Germany, England, Italy and Netherlands once football for fans returns. Keep up the great work these have got me through lockdown.
Guys i dont write comments ,but that was one of the best episodes you ever make ,great job to find this people who give the interview, they was really on point and give as perfect picture, also to talk about culture and history really dive you in and make you think about it and even you start wonder which team you will support ,awesome. Cheers to everyone involved.
thanks for showing us Berliner football culture ! I had no clue of all these clubs, history and culture ! That's awesome that's real football :)
cheers from Paris
Union stadium has to be on my bucket list.
wait until herthas new stadium is build. then the rivaly is on another level
@@kid_korrith will that be completed when the airport is completed as well? Lol
@@stanedgie5910 the airport is open for years now bro
@@kid_korrith finally. Took them long enough.
Hard to believe that this was made for RUclips and not a major television broadcast... Just wow. Taking RUclips documentaries to a new level! Thank you for this experience!
Berlin seems to be an incredible city with an incredible atmosphere
It is. When Corona is over I really recommend you to check it out.
@@niklaskristoffer Corona didn't affect Germany. They were able to control the spread in the early stages so the casualties is way less.
@@Thedude88905 bro I live in Berlin. First thing is: numbers are rising again, we did better than other countries but it's still a thing.
Second point: the reason why it didn't affect us that much is because we take it (kinda) serious. So it doesn't really make sense for him to travel here as long as there are restrictions.
An incredible video perfectly portraying how how a city such as Berlin is steeped in football and history in a beautiful / crazy symbiotic way, I love these videos man!
As someone who has only really gotten into football in the last year or so, i am honestly in awe of the production valu here! Bravo Copa90, you guys and girls have honestly created a great channel!
I live in Berlin and this documentary really Shows whats Berlin about...nice one
The most underrated documentary I've ever seen!
Made my day tbh
First of all thanks for this amazing episode. Couldnt wait for it. It'll be interesting to see how the berlin derby develops in the nearer future. As a 'younger' supporter of Hertha i still find Union a sympathetic club mostly because of our shared history. I hope that anger and hatred will not become the dominant forces in the upcoming matchups. But unfortunately the development goes straight into it. We'll see how it works out...
HaHoHe 💙⚪
There's a lot to be mad about youtube and google these days but then you find channels and videos like these and you just have to be grateful. This has made my day. Thank you!
Can’t believe they all mentioned the airport 🤣😂
I thougt after el superclasico, it couldnt been any better, but wow!
Holy shit.. this is an actual documentation about Berliin really is.
as a berliner born and raised. I have to no ... i must say this documentery is so f****ng damn good! thank you so much for the effort to show my beautiful city and club
I just came to see how the first Berlin derby came along and what i received was a full documentary and historical explanation of the city and how a rivalry was born. I totally LOVED IT! What an amazing video!
I don't know how many times I've watched this documentary but it's an absolute masterpiece that I recommend to random people.
I would love to see a new Derby Days video on the Ruhrpott-Derby.
Hondo Ohnaka 501st yeah the last two Ruhrpott Derbys in the Signal Iduna Park were epic
2017/18 Schalke come back from
4-0 down to 4:4 by a last minute corner
2018/19 Schalke won 4:2 safed their asses in the first division and destroyed bvbs championship hopes
Now both teams are in a good shape maybe on the next derby in the Signal Iduna park they both compete for the title
Best derby in Germany by far
Best German Derby Days episode, by far!
My god, what an amazing content! 49 minutes of pure pleasure. Much love for all you guys creating these masterpieces again and again.
Also can't wait for you to go out and make some stuff on our Moscow derby stories.
My German friend sent me here, and I am very glad he did. Very interesting subject made even more so by the people involved in the discussion. Some great writers and pundits involved. Love it.
From a Berliner born in West-berlin, now living in (former) East-berlin: This is probably the most accurate documentary about Berlin football, culture and lifestyle ive ever watched. I dont agree with all of the points but at least with 80%. Why did a german not think of doing sth like this? I mean how can a foreigner make the most accurate documentary about my hometown? :D :D :D Respect, Londonman!
