My theory on what might have caused the pick guard warping is the pickup wires directly underneath the pickups got caught in between the pickguard and the buts of body that wasn't routed. I've had that happen to my guitars when I've taken them apart to do stuff to them.

That's what I was expecting, but it wasn't the case when I pulled it up. It's possible that whoever had this before me moved them, though.

I bought mine a few months ago on reverb for $530 shipped. Mint 2023 built January 2024. The bridge pickup was not very inspiring. The neck pickup was fantastic! Middle so-so. I planned to change the bridge tone capacitor but I sold it Monday. Good luck and keep up the videos I enjoy them and was quite surprised you had one of these too!

Nice! I thought the cap value was odd given the tone pot values, but the HSH setup in general is hard to plan around, so in the end I can see why Fender chose it.

I got a 2018 version of this, the more I played it , the more I hated it until I replaced the neck with a warmouth with ebony fretboard-gigantic difference! That fat pao ferro neck hit the trash at light speed

Player series Strats are great platforms to mod. I have 2, love the both. Always wonder what them 2 holes in the body were for .

They are so much better than the Mexico Strats of the '90s through early '10s.

Nice guitar my concern would be the loose neck is the pocket tight were the screws just not tight enough is it a sloppy fit ? For me a ssh configuration is optimal ! If ya got a good deal it's a keeper !!

Agree HSS is preferred. The neck was just a tad loose, easily tightened I’m assuming this thing was banged around a little because the neck plate had a small ding on it.

Love that color. My Sterling bass has that Vintage Cream finish. Can you recommend the least expensive shipping? UPS or USPS?

    • @hacksguitarhobby
      @hacksguitarhobby  4 месяца назад

Currently the cheapest shipping is UPS Ground Saver.

I had a 2019 Player with the same pickup configuration and bought it new from a dealer. My issues? Neck was bowed, wouldn't hold tune, nut was cut too shallow, high E string sounded like a sitar so I installed locking tuners, a roller string tree, new block bridge saddles (high E had a flat spot causing the sitar sound), had the nut recut, neck reset and pickups balanced to spec. Then it was a great guitar. We shouldn't have to do this to a new guitar.

Yeah, for the most part I find the factory setups to be just ok, so I expect to tinker when I get one off the internet. A new guitar requiring a nut replacement is too much, though. Sorry you went through that, but glad it’s good now!

Was the flat back tone pot a no load? Sometimes they click and bypass at level 10.

So what was the price differance ? Compaired to a new one ? Cool guitar tho.

Hope you got that thing cheap. Why unsolder everything just to move everything to a new pickguard?

I did ok, like I said. I do not intend to move these parts to a new pickguard and put this guitar back together as-is.

Used for a video and returned. I got a NUX MG300 that was 'used' for $140 CDN ($50 lower than anything) and had not a mark on it and funtions flawlessly (except for their terrible drivers) Don't think that all the RUclipsrs get stuff sent to them for free.

It could have been. I'd never do that myself for a video. I have returned them when they were legitimately broken in shipping (my Glarry LP video). I'm happy to get the good deals on others' Amazon returns though. :)

And what people say! You ger what you pay for especially when talking about cheap guitars. You shouldn't expect this from a genuine fender.

I agree, though to be fair to Fender, it’s been through at least one other buyer’s hands before me.
