- Heartland is the second part of "One Perfect Sunset," which is the first offering from my forthcoming album.
Earlier this summer I captured field recordings of nature, wildlife and birds from the place I was raised in rural Nebraska and then wove them throughout the music. The recordings were taken all over eastern Nebraska while I was watching and photographing some of the most gorgeous midwest sunsets I've ever seen.
The album, Niobrara, is an homage to my upbringing in Nebraska in the 1990s and will be fully released in the Fall of 2024. Until then, sit back, relax and enjoy monthly releases from me. It's going to be a fun and beautiful ride. I cannot wait for you to hear what I've been writing the last few years.
Oh, and I figured an 8 minute song is a lot to ask of listeners these days even though I consider anything under 10 minutes short. If you're interested in hearing both songs together, I included the full 8 minute extended version on the release as a 3rd track.

When I grow up, I am going to be just like this
I first encountered your music a little over a year ago. My grandmother had a stroke and died shortly after. It was right around the time of her death when I found your album, heart of man. Your music struck such a deep chord, I believe it was "In The distance" that ripped the emotions out of my heart and into expression through my tears. Thank you Tony! It helped me through that tough time.

the Grave wine of Bordeaux the grave expresses the mineral of the Atlantic coast : it has this specificity of Grave because the vine grows only in mineral soil made of "gravel" (less pollution)
Tony. I wish I could thank you in person for this piece of Art you have shared with all of us. I'm going through the hardest period of my life, and I often come back to your art to make it through the days. I hear red-winged blackbirds, dickcissels, yellowthroats, and a bobwhite there towards the end. Very peaceful. And I love long pieces of music so I'm glad you made that an option.
You heard the bobwhite!!! My grandmother would always call to them from her front porch and they’d answer her. I didn’t realize until recently they’re a species of quail. I took these recordings near her home in July. I’ll look up the other birds today to discover which is which. How did you recognize these birds? Are you from the area?
@@TonyAndersonMusic That's so cool that they would answer your grandmother! I’m a big nature nerd and love birds especially. The Merlin Bird ID app has helped me learn to identify birds better by their calls. You can use it to listen for birds when they’re singing around you, and it will tell you which ones it hears. It’s pretty awesome and super easy to use (and also free). I live in Kentucky and all four of those birds are found here, too-the red-winged blackbird and bobwhite I knew by heart, and the app helped me out with the dickcissel and yellowthroat.
