These are assembled in Blaine, Washington if you happen to live in the United States and order one. All Momentum watches in fact are assembled in Washington State if you live in America, which is great to know.
I ordered mine on the first day. Love everything about the watch. The stiff bezel is not a concern for me, I rarely use it. The lume is good, I don't expect it to last all night, it is still legible 5 to 6 hrs out. Due to my large wrists, a little over 8 inches, I replaced the strap with a miltat stainless steel. This is my third Momentum, I also have the M50 and the Smokejumper. I really like this brand. They produce quality watches for the price.
Good to hear. Yes it is a nice watch for the price, but I have to point out what I find, that’s why I do these reviews. Doesn’t mean it’s not a good watch.
One of my more vivid memories from childhood is sitting in front of a Sony Trinitron in 1980 and watching the title sequence of Magnum, as that beautiful Italian racing red 308 GTB sped down Hawaiian roads. This watch has always been a sort of grail for me, as I've tracked the Chronosport model over the years , but the asking prices were always downright absurd (I think there's an eBay listing for around $6k at present). It's great that Momentum has reissued this, as it was long overdue, at least for those of us who grew up in the 80s. I spoke with a rep at Momentum who said there will be subsequent runs of this piece, as well as a solar version sometime in the near future. The next production run is scheduled to drop in July, and in the meantime, I've ordered a pair of Puma OG Easy Riders and an Island Hoppers t-shirt---but I'm gonna have to pass on the plum smuggler shorts.....
I really feel like they should do a titanium version of this. With the amount of hype and love of the design it would be perfect. Also other dial colors, I’d love to see a polar!
I have the eclipse with the grey strap that I took off my Xeric Supernova and the thing looks like an absolute beast. It's my go to hiking watch. I want this watch next because the company has left a good impression with me.
Don, this was an excellent straight up and detailed review. Thanks for pointing out all of the bad as well as the good. I recently went to a Redbar event and one of these were being passed around. I liked the watch but the bezel action was stiff and had a gritty, grinding feel to it as if it would totally lock up if a little dirt got in there.
Thank you. Yes, I always do a real review. Some don’t always agree with my assessment but I always review it for what it is. I will say, this is a pretty inexpensive watch and though the bezel should be better to turn (and maybe future batches will be improved) for the price and being to able to get a new version of an iconic watch is still a pretty good deal.
What a great recreation. Need this one. But the second hand doesn't hit the markers. Thats bad and annoying. What is so difficult to set the second hand correctly....
Hi ! Excellent video on this watch. I also have it and I accept the small defects you mention. It has a certain legitimacy in the field of historical divers, in my opinion, even if the Chinese predominance is there. But for the price (400€ all taxes included in Europe), I would have liked a better finish. Micro-brands (Zelos, Phoibos, etc.) are doing well. Best wishes. 👋😉🇨🇵
As it happens, I have an M1 from when this company was known as St. Moritz. Fantastic company that stands behind their products. I have the usual objection to a quartz diver, which is that it ceases to be a diver after 2 years when you have to change the battery, but then you paid quartz prices, not mechanical prices anyway. I will say that strap release issue sounds like it could be a deal breaker. Even before telling the time, a wristwatch needs to stay on the wrist and off the floor. Not acceptable, and fixing that should be a high priority for Momentum.
Very nice appealing looking diver. I like it with the black strap. Me having a large wrist I'm better off buying my own tropic strap. Hopefully one that won't fall off? I'll have to place my name on the Momentum list. Great video!!
This is my third Momuntum watch. I bought one from the first batch. I am quite happy with it. The bezel is difficult to turn at times. I might get my local jeweler to apply some type of lubricant. Overall it looks great on my wrist.
Yes I found out about the bracelet 2 days ago. I wish they would have told me they had one coming, I would have had them send me one and held off on this video to incorporate it.
Yes, I emailed and told them if they did a gmt version of this I would buy esp if the indices etc were white and hands not orange. I think they could really do well making variants.
I wanted to get this but her that bezel action was just way too tight 🤷🏾♂️. In my experience most bezels only loosen up just a little over time. So idk.
Well, this is from the first batch with the others due in May and eventually a third batch at some point later this year, so hopefully they improve it.
Looking for an all black version of the S30? Check out its solar brother here-

Yep July is the next batch order
@@gnarl12 Already ordered one---Momentum's offering a bracelet as well, which looks to be good quality.
@@jayeyesacks1604 nice. I'll order one on the Black rubber strap as soon as they reopen the books
Such a cool watch with heritage. Happy they went with quartz too and kept the cost low. For what it is, automatic isn't necessary.
Just ordered one on the jubilee! can't wait to get it, first real quartz watch to put in my collection of autos, I'm stoked.
Very cool. The all black solar quartz version arrived yesterday, so a review of that will be coming sometime after the holidays.
I really feel like they should do a titanium version of this. With the amount of hype and love of the design it would be perfect. Also other dial colors, I’d love to see a polar!
Just bought one from Momentum. It'll go on a black sailcloth strap with orange stitching and be my daily. Nice review!
Rick!! Blast from the past!! Glad you enjoyed the review. I’m sure it will look great on the sailcloth!
@@watchreport all right, so who are you?
@@fiddy_watchguy lol. Don, tattoo chef from back in watch geek forum days.
@@watchreport holy shit! How you doing, man?
Doing well my friend. How’s all on your end?
Oh cool thank you for solving that mystery(to me) of the Magnum PI watch. Sweet!!🤙🤙🤙
🙌

The watch is actually assembled in Canada (asked Momentum) assuming with parts from China.
The third pre-order for the Momentum Sea Quartz is up now. They are to ship in July.
Thank you for having the minute hand indexed to the second hand. Drives me crazy when it's off. Probably just me...

Hoping to get one of the next batch but will go for the jubilee bracelet as I think it looks awesome on it! Beautiful watch!
I like this watch and am on the list to be notified when they are back in stock. 😂
What a great recreation. Need this one. But the second hand doesn't hit the markers. Thats bad and annoying. What is so difficult to set the second hand correctly....
Excellent review. Thank you so much. Definitely going to try and snap one up.
Welcome. Glad you enjoyed and it was informative for you.
Very informative. Thanks!
You’re welcome, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
i have a very vintage chronosport sea quartz 1000 and i can not find a single thing about it and i don’t know how valuable it is but it looks awesome

Thank you. Yes, I think regular bars will work just fine. I didn’t have any 20mm on me or I would have tested it.

Great review 👍
Thank you.!
Plus they just released a jubilee bracelet today. $53 bucks with the discount code.

@@watchreport Review still relevant and well done, thank you!
Most def getting one on the jubilee bracelet! Looks awesome! 🤩
Nice looking vintage watch but too many flaws mentioned
Man ... I'm this is definitely on my list.
3rd preorder is open now. Ships in July.
I think a blue or olive green dial would be awesome.
I agree. I wouldn’t mind a white dial with the same hands either, maybe some black outlines around the indices.
Yes, I emailed and told them if they did a gmt version of this I would buy esp if the indices etc were white and hands not orange. I think they could really do well making variants.
5:01 are you sure this is the correct model from the original show?
You are correct, I inserted the wrong photo as it has a plonguer hand, but it’s very similar otherwise.
nice

@@watchreport that would be nice to see
Does this watch have AR on the crystal?
I believe it does have an internal AR coating yes.
@@watchreport Thank you!
magnum pi watch
👍😎
Just what we need -- another vintage diver! Besides Tom Selleck is a terrible actor!!
Is no vintage ! Is retro!!!!!
