Laura you have amazing insight into the gaming industry, with a new mic and a less static scripted style you could really crush it on RUclips in my opinion.
I wish that creativity and passion for craft were recognised and rewarded on the same level as efficiency and productivity. Innovation isn't something you can just teach... this coming from an artist and teacher.
Joined Sony pre PSVR1 ship to do metaverse stuff and just awesome to see you launch this channel and posting these lovely videos. Team chemistry is really hard problem to solve.
I always want to know as much about the inside of tech and game dev. But it's so hidden to someone like me that isn't in the American ecosystems. And these videos are so incredibly interesting! I look forward to a higher audio quality in the future to match the great editing.
Hi Laura. I hope you're doing well. It's fun to revisit all these old photos. It's also pretty harrowing to compare what I looked like at the start and end of crunch. :)
Doing well! Thanks! I remember when the FB team went on vacation and you saved the day. You are an amazing programmer and I hope you are doing well too!
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm only starting out as an engineer, and it's such a relief to hear someone experienced give voice to what I intuitively know to be right about product development and innovation.
I absolutely love your perspective and appreciate your years of experience in the field. Subscribed, alerted, but please, as an audio engineer, take a look at your levels...
You my dear are a wealth of knowledge and your resume is impressive. I hope this industry is smart enough to notice and put you as lead on an important project soon. Your passion is inspiring! 😊
Really interesting video from the insider perspective. Originally I thought oculus were really poised to dominate the vr space by having affordable headsets but from the outside looking in a lot of people started seeing red flags. It started with requiring a facebook account for the hardware to function and Carmack leaving. When the quest 2 came out, it seemed like they aggressively took market share from HTC/Valve/HP and then did absolutely nothing to hold consumer interest after pushing a very lackluster (and massive) Medal of Honor game. I'm not sure how they will recover after going all in on the thinking workers will want to sit there all day with a headset strapped on.
I'm not the type of person who comment in the videos I watch, but I need to say some words to you Laura. I really love your videos they are well made, well paced, well edited and on top of that your opinions are well thought out and you have experience which is very rare. I particularly don't like to see "critics", the art of creating something is very hard and personal but people who doesn't have this experience don't know that and just bash and trash everything. Well just keep the videos coming I will make shure to watch it and like it. I really enjoyed your work, very well done.
So how does one feel like part of the culture? I've been in IT for 7 years and just don't have a feeling of belonging or even safe. I only worked at two places so far but maybe its just me.
Great video. All those ingredients are surely important. But, so is making it look...not lame. Those metaverse avatars and back rounds look like gaming from 15+ years ago. No thank you.
People sleep on meta all that investment in R&D will prob pop off in future. There is something that feels instinctually wrong tho when your senses are cut off.
Interesting to hear the back story to this. It reflected my intuition on what would've happened after Facebook took over. And John Carmack's exit letter cemented it. It seemed like it was going to become a case of "too many chiefs, not enough Indians" until in collapsed under its own weight.
I really love your videos and have great respect for your commentaries, but those China reports, eh, didn't age well if you ask me. I guess America's obsession with whoever the next super power on the horizon is, is just incurable!
Are you terminal? I know it's a weird question to ask..............your videos make me think of someone trying to push people in the correct way, as best you can figure out, before passing. This is not meant as a rude question, yet I know it is.
You can tell someone has spent too much time around game programmers when the phrase "order of magnitude" comes out. Great video!
Just found thus channel. Wow! You really have a serious resume and your ability to tell a story is great. Subscribed!
Thank you for watching and subscribing!

Thank you for your feedback! I've been trying to improve my audio. If you get a chance, let me know what you think of the sound in the latest video.
I wonder how this chanell doesn't have like milions subscribers (which is not always good thing imho)...
Pure gold
Thank you!

Agreed! Team chemistry is definitely a hard problem. :)

I wish you'd covered Lucky's suspicious firing.
I can't imagine that helped.
Love your videos 😊
Thank you!
Id like to know what fast food places you've worked at 😆 Watched all the vids in one day. Please keep them coming.
Thanks! McDonald's, Taco Time, Taco Bell twice, Roundtable Pizza..I'm probably missing some. Had to help pay for college.

I don’t want to wear goggles on my face to look at what I can see on my phone . It’s not virtual reality it’s tv screens on your eyes.

I love your videos. Xbox need you back!
Thank you!
You can't spell "culture" without "cult".
