Eleanor Powell dancing with Fred Astaire "Begin the Beguine" is a pleasure without end. So gracious, talented and beautiful.

My very old father told me about her awhile back and I bought a couple of old classic films with her in it. As previously mentioned one with Fred Astaire. She seriously upstaged him with her dance and that's a lot to be said. Hence the reason why he wouldn't make another film with her. Not speaking poorly of Ginger Rogers but she couldn't hold a candle to Eleanor Powell. God Bless her soul.

Eleanor was a better dancer than Fred, as Fred once told Peter Ford. Eleanor wanted to make another film with Fred, but he wouldn't do it.

Roddy McDowall said Fred told him: She could do everything, she was the best woman dancer probably in history.'

If you're interested to know more about her life, there's a brand new biography released in August 2023 from University Press of Kentucky titled "Eleanor Powell: Born to Dance". It's available on Amazon.

@noorgonzalez1076: GO TO HELL! What does a biblical reference have to do with the life and considerable art of Eleanor Powell? You insult Eleanor Powell, the Bible and God by posting something totally irrelevant. Grow up, fast.

    Eleanor Powell was underappreciated.
The narration is awful! Is the narrator an AI robot? From Minnesota, no less?

I had to stop listening as well because of the serious mispronunciation. These words and names are common knowledge. And when words end in “-ing-“ the g should be pronounced. Getting these things corrected will definitely make you sound more professional, Mr narrator.

@@echocheckI was going to mention the Sandals! I did learn a lot about her. A minister of a Unity Church! I didn’t know about her resurgence in the 60’s. Good for her!
