Similar to the financial industry. There are a ton of financial instruments that the public can’t access (and wouldn’t be a good idea anyway). Love the insights John.
Thanks for the info John but I noticed you didn't mention the names of the trade shows like IWJG, WWT or JCK. Listing these would be much more helpful. Same with the online wholesale B2B watch trading platforms. Again, you did not list any of those. I use Polygon but if there is a better one, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks
Thank you for sharing this info! Your channel is super informative and gives the audience always something to learn in a way that is in my opinion more precise and honest than other channels on youtube.
They produce so many watches because everything is a question of cost accounting. With high volumes you have better purchase prices and if you can sell 30% of your watches at full price, a 15% margin on warehouse sales is probably sufficient.
Good to know and many thanks. Just weird that the watch makers simply will not warranty their own product when it's not sold at an AD. Even the auto industry will honor the warranty of the car to the subsequent buyers of the same car. Just ridiculous.
Great video! I'm sure like car dealers there are auctions too. Just to win a "lot" at a decent margin, but at a where is as is watch that you bought from a picture and some description. It will probably need a service or touch up here and there for the flip
The private guy is almost the same animal. They msg you on Kijiji or eBay etc. and kick you in the knees with super low offers and see if you or any of the 1000 sellers they msg take the low offer. It's all about market and margin. Just saying. If there is no margin there is no business or dealer. Unscrupulous?! Not really, just a buy low sell lower than the next seller on eBay environment so you can now make some money to throw pictures on the walls as some have commented.🤓
Hey Dave, try opening a dealership… or any business for that matter. The watch industry is all about buying in bulk which, unless it’s a drop shipping arrangement, is money out of pocket just to carry watches to sell.
I like the new set. It has all the warmth of hospital waiting room.
Just the corner of my office
I got exactly same hospital vibe)
He needs some nice artwork on those walls.
You have to admit JOHN P., that was funny! But, the content is excellent. Keep up the good work...
I think the size of that picture on the wall looks just right. Any bigger would be excessive..

only idiots buy into the watch hype

Yeah he just glosses over without giving ANY actual information.
Polygon huh 🤔
Thanks for another insightful video John. Hope to meet you in person one day my man, you are extremely knowledgeable and overall a down to earth guy!
Can’t wait for your program to come out!

Nice new setup in this video. Looking forward to more videos. Keep up the good work.
Then why boutique gives such little discount when they have over stocked and sell it backdoor?
JP. Thank you. I know this video is old but I sent my info to the link for the apprenticeship program. I hope to hear from you.

Exactly!!

How often do you and Federico buy a watch that Hans is unable to get up to the performance level you are comfortable selling?
Awesome subject ! Keep it up. I would enjoy being a dealer but would just keep most of the watches to myself. 🙀
Those walls need some nicely framed macro shots of watches.
Love these vids John!
Great educational segments John
Great content.
Thanks for the insights, John.
Thanks!
Appreciate it John.
Very interested. Thanks for the info.
Now that most trade shows have been cancelled during COVID - how have dealers pivoted?
Underground trading platforms. Interesting information.
It is kinda like underground fighting. You gotta know someone to get in.
Yeah. Sounds fishy
Great vid, John!
But where do you get the String bracelets that compliment your watches ?
Add some color to your office. Wow! I see great watches and high horology as art so I just observe appreciate. 🥃
How often are ADs selling to watch flippers?
What about out the back door of AD who got forced to over buy? Does that happen too.
Yes
Watches only require a vendors license.
for a second I thought intro was from the hub
Like if you thought the same for the first few beats
10% plus 10% plus 10% plus etc. etc. etc. a lot of cuts.
Watch brands should stop this AD bullshit and let the market decide.
Deep web? 😅
The Swiss watch industry sounds like a load of bullshit. Hype bandwagon...almost reminds me of the bullshit diamond industry
You should’ve said we get a lot of our inventory from worthless flippers. They ruin the hobby for everyone else.
So you guys are just the same as unscrupulous car dealers ? Lol . Greed .
