Arby's one actually has a layer of humor to it, as i believe they did a post when 1.5 or 2.5 was coming out and they had the cardboard keyblade, without the bottle of water. When 2.8 was coming out the "but this one has Aqua" actually got a chuckle out of me.
That OK KO reference goes even further with the fact they are all hanging out near a ledge like many characters in KH are seen doing while eating said ice cream!
In the first season of The Boys Sora's voice actor Haley Joel Osment plays a character called Mesmer. We meet him for the first time when he's signing autographs in a convention. There are bunch of real and fictional people in the room, but on the table next to him is Billy Zane, the voice actor of Ansem the seeker of Darkness. I'm sure this was intentional
In NEO: The World Ends With You, there is a dialogue option related to the main quest where Simple and Clean, the opening theme for KH1, is name dropped
I'm surprised after all of these, it wasn't mentioned how in Disneyworld/land, during Halloween time for the Oogie Boogie Bash, you can find the mascots of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy wearing their kingdom hearts outfits
There’s actually 2 Kingdom Hearts references in Dreamlight Valley, the first is the heart reflected from Minnie’s house as mentioned in the video but the second comes when having a conversation with Goofy where he talks about how the night thorns could be attracted to negative emotions which may or may not be a reference to Vanitas from KH
Honestly, I'm shocked that between this video and the last, no one has brought up the Key Cutter from the game Fantasy Life on the 3DS! It's a mid-to-late game weapon you can use as any Life (AKA RPG Class) as long as your skill level with one-handed swords is high enough. The description is: "Said to be the "key" to any monster's heart. If only it opened locked treasure chests..." Fantasy Life is filled with silly references in the dialogue, items, etc. It's a great game! Super excited for the upcoming sequel on the Switch.
Since you brought up the NBA, we must not forget that the Olympics set in Japan had played a lot of video game music. Kingdom Hearts was one of them, specifically the Olympus Coliseum world theme
It’s definitely fitting, that’s for sure. Both the Hercules/Olympus Coliseum and The Olympic Games share that IRL historical connection. Not Herc, obviously- but the games themselves. Thanks, Greece and Japan!
If you want another Kingdom Hearts reference in a song. An artist named Midwxst(pronounced Midwest), who is pretty big in the hyperpop scene, made a song called No Smoke and one of the lyrics says "I got the key, I feel like I'm Sora".
I believe Bayonetta has a reference to. One of the angel weapons they can drop is a giant key needed to open doors and paths in the game and while the enemies use them like spears, when Bayo picks it up her animation changes to using it like a sword instead starting with an overhead swing and finishing with a spinning horizontal slash
I love the idea that this is "evidence" of an unofficial shared Kingdom Hearts universe. I've always loved the crossover potential of "But what if Sora could go to other worlds that weren't in the games, or even weren't Disney/Squenix at all?", and so I'm glad I'm not the only one who has that daydream sometimes. Anyway, I definitely think the Toy Story key was a reference, since modern keys don't have the teeth grouped at the end anymore. Modern keys tend to have jagged edges all along the entire shaft because of how locks are designed. For the TS4 key to have that trapezoidal hilt AND more of a skeleton-key arrangement of the teeth really sticks it out from what you'd expect a key to look like. But also, I'm pretty sure the teeth are arranged vaguely in a crown shape rather than just being straight, which ties back to the KH motifs again.
YAY! Thanks for mentioning Gaia! There's also an actual item dedicated to the Kingdom Key and both Oathkeeper & Oblivion too! But, thank you so much for that!
I watched my older brother play gaia when I was a kid and could not wait until I was allowed to play. I was 9 when I started. I also loved KH, for a while I only saw it when my brothers friend brought it over. Destiny Island being swallowed up traumatized me. By the time I started on gaia I had already beaten 1 and 2. When I saw there were KH items, I knew what I had to do. For years I saved gold, I roleplayed in forums, I did gaiacash events to get whales which I would sell on the marketplace for 100,000 g each. and eventullay I had a pretty good KH2 outfit that I felt I really earned without spending any money on. Damien Haas from Smosh can be seen in quite a few videos wearing a heartless t-shirt and I can't remeber what wrestler but a female wrestler came out with a keyblade and later used it in ring wrapped in barbed wire to hit her opponent
Trove, there was another weapon type that was also the keyblade reference. Which is a dual wielding of 2 kingdom keys held as pistols and name of this weapon is called Unlock 'N Load

I don't remember if you already mentioned this before, but in ratchet and clank rift apart, you can get a keyblade skin for rivets hammer or ratchets wrench
Not sure if it was mentioned: In the anime-style game "Grand Fantasia", there is a character class/job called "Wanderer" (to start. Different names for it as you progress). While not a melee weapon, they get a ranged weapon slot for items called "Crystal Keys". When you look at the icons for different Crystal Keys, you can clearly see they are inspired by Keyblades.
One cool reference I found was in the mobile game Gacha Life, where you make avatars and can make little skits with them. In the game, one of the props you can have a avatar hold when customizing them is a keyblade. Its not called anything but pretty obvious to see for any Kingdom hearts fan. Hope it helps for a possible pt 3!

@@drakenforge4276 For more detailed explanation: Greatsword - Oblivion is attached to your back while the weapon is Oath keeper Soaring Blades - Both weapons Katana - Purely Oblivion
11:35 That weapon camo is called lumiere fonce*, and was obtainable in the global version of pso2 for a small while trough a code, And this camo was usable on 3 weapon types Sword, Katana and soaring blades with each of them using the camo a bit differently. When used on a sword you would only wield the sword of light while the black one was on your back while if you used katana you would only wield the black one and then there was the soaring blades that uses both of them. Another thing to note about the soaring blades it that a class in base game called etoile could use them and when you paired this camo with the class you could get a look similar to one of sora's drive form from kh2.
Yeah, I remember mentioning last time that there was actually an episode that was a parody of kingdom hearts in Johnny test where Susan and Mary create this invention, known as the X key in order to open any lock and get anywhere. If you’re wondering why that sounds familiar it’s because the Keyblade can open any lock just like in kingdom hearts :-)

Ski mask has a song called child’s play with a part that says “Kingdom Hearts is what I are, my keyblade swing like arm Out of the darkness b****, Inside my heart and s***”
I *think* Disney's Descendants (the first one) has a small reference. You know how KH characters always describe Sea Salt Ice Cream as "salty but sweet" in some way? When the villain kids first leave The Isle, Jay & Carlos are eating chocolates in the limo. Paraphrasing here, but I'm pretty sure Carlos says "they're salty, but sweet like I don't know what." Not sure if this counts. Also, I think there might've been another reference in Descendants 3, but I can't remember what it was.
I love the candy scene. I think he was referring to the taste of the chocolate cause they’ve never had sweets before so he couldn’t describe the sweetness part. He says it’s salty like nuts
If we try hard enough, we can force the universe to materialize even more references which will enable you to create a third video! jk, great video, though! I never knew about the Rumbleverse reference, which is probably the last place I'd expect to see KH lmao
XXXTentacion was a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts and referenced it often and after his passing Yoko Shimomura had composed a piece in his memory and the music video for it contains a guy in a coat reminiscent of the Organization.
There's a kingdom hearts reference In The Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative game. One of the characters shows up to a fight, with a huge key that thy Just "found".
I would like to add a potential reference of our wonderful Sea Salt Ice Cream coming from Sky: Children of the Light as the event currency/token for the Days of Sunlight 2023 (I don't think it's officially called as such but the shape and color are just far too perfect)
The amphibia reference had to be my absolute favorite with kh2 being my favorite game of all time the okko is also great I immediately called that out when I saw it also there's a reason that eliza is my main in skull girls
I'm not sure if this is really a kh reference but the flower enemies in Kirby have colors simalar to one of the flower's on kairi's keyblade, the colors seem to be inverted though
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. But RuneScape has a KH reference in the quest: elemental workshop part 3. Where you have to turn a knife into a key to unlock the deeper sections of the workshop.
Since you did that music reference about the NBA, J Cole’s song Dollar and a Dream III also uses the Darkness of the Unknown theme if I remember correctly.
There's a weapon in Soda Dungeon 2 called the Keybringer. Its design is very obviously a reference to the Keyblade, and it has the special trait of increasing the chance of finding keys.
Arby’s had a great social media advertising campaign where they remade tons of different items/characters from pop culture using their packaging, not just kingdom hearts. There’re some really great ones, too
Not sure was this mentioned but there was a disney kamen rider belt that was show case a few weeks ago. I think it was called imagination belt. And it uses key to change into different forms(although the keys r mostly gray out for coming soon in the future)
Another Kingdom Hearts reference appears in Season 3 of The Masked Singer (US). In one of the clue packages for the Turtle, there is a heart with a crown amongst a chessboard and pieces.
Man so many references lol There's also one I know, but it's probably difficult to find. It was on German TV (ProSieben to be exact) on a series called "Galileo Big Pictures" where they showed off the most incredible things on earth. Number 1 was Life, and what music did they use? The orchestral version of Simple & Clean. Absolute genius, whoever came up with that idea...
So about little references, I'm pretty sure square slipped one in First Soldier and most people didn't notice it until I pointed it out During its first event for Christmas 🎄 they changed up and decorated the lobby screen. Some of the ornaments hanging across the ceiling where mostly stars🌟 but there were also 👑 little 3 pointed crowns... with Nomura have made the game I could see it. But what's really weird is how before shut down of the game christmas came around again but the lobby was zoomed closer so you couldn't see the ceiling ornaments anymore other then the bottom of maybe 3 stars barely.... kinda weird to make that change to agame your shutting down in 30 days lime why hide it after the fact is why it still stick as with me.
NGL, I’d really like to see a Toriyama sketch of the KH Cast. Mangakas often draw eachothers characters in their own style for fun and support/promotion- so I’d love to see a Dragon Quest/Chrono Trigger mashup of KH - or even Toriyama simply drawing KH characters his way. Just an image, I know - but I want to see it.
I have seen the hearts also on a sheriff skin in Valorant for the agent Harbor agent track at his release. He does come up out of the water in one of the trailers so it may be references to Sora and coming out of the water at the end of KH2 or it could be coincidence. I will also note that I noticed the El Dorado map hearts and wondered if they were a reference.
So recently, in an episode of My Adventures with Superman, we see a brief newspaper showing Lois getting a key to the city of Metropolis and she's clearly dressed like a KH character! Check it out, it's episode 5 or 6 I think?
I have found a reference in superman crisis of multiverse. When Louis Janes talks about other Lois Janes, the one from earth 24 has a keyblade and a jacket that is similar to the one sora has. That's all I have!
I've been playing the new kickstarter edition of Dragonbane ttrpg, and just yesterday we came across a trio of NPC's prewritten into the book as a random travel encounter. A human thief (keyblade opens locks), wolfkin warrior and a mallard wizard. Not entirely sure but we had three players notice it in turn and it fits too well to be a coincidence, haha.
10:40 I actually have that volume! I founded it at my grandmother’s. Theres also at least 1 volume with an ad for Re:Coded on the back. Definitely the weirdest items in my collection.

i like the references about SPECIFICALLY from KH 358-2 Days, since i fell that is the most emotionally memorable of all i see most people agreed making references to the organization, the clocktower but mainly to the sea salt ice cream, being an item that is more called on that game
I may be overthinking it, but in FF7R, Cloud and Aerith have to fight in the Coliseum, right? I just thought to myself that they could've called it, I dunno, the "Arena" or something, and to me "Coliseum" is I'm pretty sure a nod to where Sora first meets Cloud. Maybe I got the name wrong, but I feel like this is. Also, I've seen a lot of people flip out when Jessie says "as if" in Intermission, lol. Another one: Leslie, from Wall Market, has SILVER HAIR AND YELLOW EYES. Fr

@@drakenforge4276 For the Greatsword yes but you only get to have the Oblivion Keyblade for it
@@888pokemaster1 damn
And I'm asking as a CAST Gunner/Hunter btw
@@drakenforge4276 For more detailed explanation:
Greatsword - Oblivion is attached to your back while the weapon is Oath keeper
Soaring Blades - Both weapons
Katana - Purely Oblivion
Terrorbane - keyblade on wall at blacksmith
AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative - one character is using big key as weapon and open keyhole in heart at sky
In music video Therefore I Am Billie Elish wear sweater with Heartless icon
If goku and Sora went on adventures together ? That would have blown my mind as a kid
I absolutely did a double take when I heard the Taco Bell rap 😜
Ski mask has a song called child’s play with a part that says “Kingdom Hearts is what I are, my keyblade swing like arm
Out of the darkness b****,
Inside my heart and s***”
He says it’s salty like nuts
the only one I knew on this list was the tacobell one, so glad to learn some of these new references to the series!
If we try hard enough, we can force the universe to materialize even more references which will enable you to create a third video!
jk, great video, though! I never knew about the Rumbleverse reference, which is probably the last place I'd expect to see KH lmao
Might need that NBA remix of Darkness of The Unknown
Or wait, was it part 4? Been soo long since I completed these quests.
There’re some really great ones, too
Big respect for using Yu-Gi-Oh duelest of the roses soundtrack
Record Keeper's global versions were only shut down, the JP version is still active and getting updates.
Because Turtle was Jesse McCartney, the VA for Ventus and Roxas from Kingdom hearts
The game slash and girl has a keyblade in it as a weapon you can use
Man so many references lol
There's also one I know, but it's probably difficult to find. It was on German TV (ProSieben to be exact) on a series called "Galileo Big Pictures" where they showed off the most incredible things on earth. Number 1 was Life, and what music did they use? The orchestral version of Simple & Clean. Absolute genius, whoever came up with that idea...
In pokemon infinite fusions, if you fuse torterra with klefki, it becomes a bunch of kingdom hearts references
I found another in an anime called Date A Live. One of the characters fights with a key shaped sword. Crunchyroll pointed out the similarity.
Another Emoji Blitz thing. You can now get Donald and Goofy in their mage and captain attire.
Surprised that there were no KH references in FFVII Remake since Nomura was Director for that as well.
Still missing the keyblade weapon in castle crashers
In the lyrics to Caraphernelia by Pierce the Veil, they say "Nobody prays for the Heartless". They never said it, but I am sure it is a KH reference
Idk, heartless in this case means an evil or deceitful person.
There's a keyblade reference in the saints row reboot called the Saintsblade
That old Yu-Gi-Oh game music just sent me back about 20 years, I haven't heard that in years!
Wisdom courage and charisma is a reference within itself cuz its the first question they ask in KH1 when ur in the tutorial
13:27 i think that's a reference to a fake myth about resurrecting aerith
I have found a reference in superman crisis of multiverse. When Louis Janes talks about other Lois Janes, the one from earth 24 has a keyblade and a jacket that is similar to the one sora has.
That's all I have!
Final Fantays TCG has a cloud card in his KH attire as well as sephiroth. I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I found
Record Keeper is still playable on the Japanese Servers: But that likely won't last for much longer.
There is an app called soda dungeon where you can get a weapon that looks distinctly like the keyblade
Don't know if this counts, but there are a few references in pokemon infinite fusion. The fusion of Klefki & Gallade, Klefki & Pikachu, Klefki & Jolteon, Klefki & Torterra, Klefki & Aegislash, and Klefki & Mr. mime! ( Did you notice a pattern?)
there is also a Roserade and Kirlia fusion that is just Kairi by bubbarottweiler
Didn't notice the big bang theory one that's awesome
Sora adventuring with Goku is all I could ever want, I hope one day kh branches into anime
i like the references about SPECIFICALLY from KH 358-2 Days, since i fell that is the most emotionally memorable of all i see most people agreed making references to the organization, the clocktower but mainly to the sea salt ice cream, being an item that is more called on that game
Fr
Billie Eilish wore a hoodie with a heartless symbol on it in one of her MVs
In final fantasy 14 there is a beast tribe called the pixies and as you through out the quest line you have to help one pixie and I just got KH vibes and I am not he only one as well xD
