I'm happy to have grown up in a family that didn't have to deal with substance abuse and violence, but this song paints a vivid picture of the horror and helplessness of the poor children who do. 😥
First I loved the instumental part.. now I actually dove into the lyrics and.. just.. I hardly know how to put it into words. This is the kind of song that I use to make people understand metal. I explain the lyrics before hand so they understand what the song is approximately about and then let them listen to it with the lyrics next to them. You honestly cannot say that a song like this is bad. This song is amazing. I've never felt the pain described in this song, I've been privileged in my life to have a loving, complete family but I feel for the people that haven't. Songs like this make me want to be open to people that haven't felt that love in their life.
I remember listening to this song when it came out. I was the father in this song. I felt like Robb was signing that shit to me. Years later I conquered my addiction and the relationship with my kids has been salvaged. But I missed out on so many years. If you are the father in this song find your way back before it’s too late.
Machine Head never cease to amaze me. In a song so bludgeoningly heavy the part starting at 2:21 nearly puts me to tears every time I listen to it. And then immediately I want to go back to throwing hands
i like the video cut and this version of the intro as well as the album version. They did a good job here. Not to compare with the cut of "halo" where the fckn solo is lost in the video version.
I've seen Machine Head 3 times. Mayhem Fest, Best Buy Theatre, and The Crazy Donkey. All shows just blew my mind....this band is an emination of my soul. Truly no other band shares a place with them except for Slipknot in my eyes.
This hits home. Me and thousznds of other people grew up like this and wound up in foster homes because it was unsafe and grew up having anger about it.
No. I remember this dude from an online message board we were both on back when this came out. He was pretty stoked to be a part of this music video, I remember.
Drug addiction is still a stigma and I guess to shame addicts -like they don’t deserve to be talked about or acknowledged? I was a meth, crack, opiate addict and everything else for 30 years -nobody in family even wanted to talk about it- 5 years clean now
Thee greatest musical masterpiece of any band. I like machinehead alot but they're not my favorite. This song is perfect beginning to end. I love when it peaks. Man ya just dont get this kinda seriousness level of quality. MOTHERFUCKER I FUCKING LOVE IT🤘🤘🤟🤟 should've seen them front row when rhwy played with slipknot but stupid me violated my probation and sar in jail. Worse day of my life had the freaking tickets😢
This has to be the most underrated Machine Head song ever!

One of my favorite songs of all time by any band.
I agree.
One of those songs that reminds you how weak and helpless you were and how strong you become for it, no matter how damaged

Why TF are they censoring the word heroin? Censorship is going mad.

I believe that only those families should have children who their kids won't listen to METAL
Saw Machinehead with Slipknot in Adelaide.Imo Machinehead kicked Slipknots ass.Rob Flynn is a fuckin legendary front man.
