- The Nintendo Switch wasn't what I expected when it was first shown off, and I ended up feeling pretty negative towards the system. So what has happened between then and now to change my mind on the Nintendo Switch, from a cynic to a believer? Let's find out!

Attention: when I say mobile, I mean cell phones and tablets! Not handhelds!
You were right, now you're wrong. But we don't know for sure until January. and if it uses the tegra X1 it will not be powerful enough. But that doesn't mean that Nintendo doesn't have a dedicated home console in the works.
01treeman Lol there's no way, they've referred to the switch as their next home console multiple times. Also there's a lot more credible rumors for a modified more powerful chip rather than just the X1
***** He's just judging it as it's own thing, which it is
***** We really don't know. Like we don't even know what the chip is, just that it's nvidia
***** Who, Nvidia?
Honestly, Nintendo never worried me, it has always been third parties that I've been concerned of, they lack trustworthiness, and the worst part is everyone defends them and makes them out to be victims.
Teenkitsune yes, third parties may defect. But they don't have much choice in this matter, they do what they have to in order to survive, and the circumstances change. It's just so hard to predict what the future will hold.
what's worrying me is that third parties are acting like it will indeed be powerful enough for the true games of this generation, even if a bit set on low vs medium PC settings. What I am also worried about is how necessary it will be to play the system while docked. Because if it's true that the system is going to be more powerful, with higher clocks while docked. Then that will lead to people developing most games for docked mode and the mobile factor will be a hearty gimmic. And for me, the whole reason why I want this is for the mobile aspect, I don't need another static gaming machine.
I think it's not even close to PC or current consoles, but it could have a market of its own. If the CPU runs same clock regardless and only GPU clock changes, the docked vs battery operated mode difference will be covered by lower resolution of internal display vs HDMI output.
consoles aren't even close to PC...
150W consoles vs. 350W PC vs. a 5W tablet form factor device. A little perspective please. And 5W is an optimistic estimate, so far all of them were
it's ok to be wrong, as long as you realize you're wrong lol

you're*
technically speaking, both can be correct
corsegerspwnd You are* :D
your
The 3DS is totally gonna be phased out if the 5-8 hour rumours are true.
No it will be fazed out especially if we get a mainline pokemon game on the switch... It will be slow though. But even crappy resolution textures looks better with an HD display.
Yeah 240p doesn't age well. :/
Noe Misael Jimenez Zuno Yeah you are right, If you try and look at the textures in pokemon, with the limited resolution, you will just see how almost 8 bit the face models are, and almost every texture is like that, if they are working on a pokemon game for the switch, people don't even understand how long it will take to upres everything to at least pokemon GO levels of textures. even if they keep everything else the same, it will look rushed. Good thing there is only so many characters.
I don't know how quickly they will be able to patch all the pixelated textures though, because they didn't need anywhere near even 64 quality textures for that game to look decent
some of the textures are literal pixel art though
If you are not into mobile gaming , why do you have a big ass Nintendo ds and 3ds collection right behind you ?
Or do you consider mobile gaming only to be on smartphones ?
BudokaiGamer it's a matter of semantics
BudokaiGamer then what do you say to rockstar's version of their gta games and now bully on iOS ? These are definetely not watered down versions and are even superior.
I think that "mobile gaming" is catching up pretty quickly.
Yeah well when they start letting us use Bluetooth controllers on our phones, I'll reconsider playing console ports on my LG Stylo.
BudokaiGamer you got me with the tangible controller aspect of it 👍🐙
haha when I say mobile, I mean tablets and phones.
Quit posting videos while I'm bingeing. Adding to my backlog.
lol I'm sorry.
I believe the 3DS will be phased out bro. The Switch can be Updated semi-annually just like the 3DS did. Its a wrap for those handheld devices. Nintendo combined their home console and handheld divisions to make switch successors from now on.
Jodys Corner i dont think switch will be future of handheld...i like my handheld games separate from console stuff but yea pokemon on switch is a cool concept.
Jodys Corner i dont think switch will be future of handheld...i like my handheld games separate from console stuff but yea pokemon on switch is a cool concept.
I believe the same (@Jody Corner), the intelligent decision would be combine future handheld developed games with the home console which appears to be the Switch. There has always been this separation which needs to be married in regards to handheld vs console, there are so many games those of us that don't have/want handhelds miss out on or experiences that would be better on a large TV (Monster Hunter...). Hopefully the Switch is catalyst to remedy this!
If Nintendo was smart and wanted to show good will they would have emulated 3ds (at least) for the Switch. Most of these companies just see dollar signs, aka EShops for retro games, or HD remakes, the like.
@Swagsuke Uchiha -- Wanting them separate makes no logical sense. You don't want the choice to play the same game on the go or on your home console? Insanity...
What would the switch not offer that you feel is necessary for mobile gaming?
4g connectivity. hands down.
You said the touch control made you angry yet Nintendo made sure to not show anyone touching the screen and still haven't even officially said it has a touch screen...
the one thing that has me excited for this is that apparently yooka laylee will be released on the switch
i hope nintendo doesnt fuck up.
then we'll have 2 underdogs finally coming back, AMD, and finally Nintendo
CancerCx competition is the best. everybody wins if more companies are competing trying to create the best product
Walther Penne AMD went from a $1.80 stock in October of 2015 to a near $11 stock in December of 2016. That much of a rise is ridiculous. ALSO. The stock was at around $5.50 in JULY of 2016. Meaning almost double the price, in less then 6 months.
well since it runs w/ cartigees i dont think we'll get any minitue long loading screens.
Walther Penne that's what happens when a console actually has games to play .. I would rather have that then a console or handheld or whatever we call it with No Third party support
well if Nintendo doesn't stock the switch in stores like the NES mini then I think they will fail
Scotty Barger depends. You couldn't buy the original Wii either when it came out for about a year, and it still was a massive success. They always do the artificial scarcity thing.
I will riot.
You do realize there was stock problems for the Wii for about a year after launch...
Longer than that where I live there was no Wiis for Christmas at least 2 years after it was out
RGT 85 I somehow doubt... that they will be all that impressed. I mean they've done everything they could to piss off as many RUclipsrs as humanly possible recently, doesn't seem to bother them much at all. Maybe if they managed to piss off Jimmy Fallon, then they'll pay attention.
I'm really hoping Nintendo knocks it out of the park with the Switch. I became excited about it as soon as I realized that they were going back to cartridges. Don't get me wrong, I love the newer stuff just as much as the retro systems I grew up with, but I've always wanted that same reliable use of cartridges over a CD/DVD/Bluray drive. So this is a dream come true.
Justin DaRonco As long as the cartridges are high enough capacity. If they are, I think it's a great idea.
+ArtOfCamelot I can't imagine why they wouldn't be. Devices used to save and store data have drastically increased their capacity since the 80's and 90's. And Nintendo has a track record of pulling off technical feats when it comes to cartridges.
What ever happened to "wait and see"?
It can be a hard thing to admit when something may not be right on the internet and for that, i respect you.
Nintendo is always going attempt to innovate and be different in the industry. Great video.
And I think they might have it right this time after the Wii U.
The Nintendo "illuminati" got a hold of this dude
I'm finally super excited about a Nintendo system again! I believe this is going to suprise alot of people and make them fans of the Nintendo brand again. I'm glad you changed your outlook on it, and many others are doing the same after that Jimmy Fallon presentation...that alone got me geeking out almost as much as Jimmy, watching him fanboy out! :D I am saving the money I was going to use on the Xbox S for the Switch and I can't wait!
Steven Mabee I think that is one reason why Nintendo decided to slightly change the reveal plans a bit. But the official reveal is next month. You know, specs, confirmed games, price, etc.
Yes he KNEW but didn't get to hold n play until that very moment, which is why he geeked out so hard! :D
Of course you were incorrect. The Nintendo Switch concept was fucking gold from the start.
Did you NOT see the pro controller?
LOL xD
I am expecting a system that will be easy to carry when I go to my friends house to play Smash. I hope they make a carrying case!
Yup, there actually was a carrying case that went online for a bit before being taken down that could hold the nintendo switch along with some game cartridges and a charging cable, which happened to be usb type-c.
TheMCAvenger13 and that carrying case looked sleek af.
ninstation 87
Any pictures?
I wanna see it.
My personal excitement for the Switch has stayed about the same since it was revealed in that awesome trailer. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm very anxious to find out what its launch lineup is going to be. I'm glad to hear you're excited about it too. And I hope Nintendo heeds your warning! Your "ripping them to shreds" comment reminded me of that scene in Jurassic Park where the Raptor sneaks up on the hunter guy. "Clever girl." :D
When I first heard of the wii u, I thought it had the same idea as the nintendo switch I got it with excitement, then found out it wasnt like that and i was stupid for thinking that. So like 5 years later I finally get that wish.
In the next month Nintendo better allow pre orders for the Switch or we as consumers will be in the same boat we are in w/ the NES classic shortage!
God I hope not. lol
RGT 85 If you think about it March really isn't that far away...
If only other opinions on the internet can change that quickly...
I don't think I'm going to be taking the switch mobile. it seems like If you lose that screen your screwed.
james oglesby The screen IS the console, after all.
true...I guess same thing goes for the 3DS
You'd have to be irresponsible as hell to lose it, or get robbed.
>hates mobile gaming
>has a 3ds in the background
+HellHunterKiriu siiiigh. Mobile meaning phones and tablets. A 3ds is a handheld.
"Of course you were wrong." - Jason
unforgiven Nope.
This is the way tech is going to trend... The software cannot keep up with the hardware. It's better to make the same technology fit in half the space and make great games than it is to double the amount of power in the same space and make sub-par games.
+PlayitNext Games I think you are spot on
PS4 games can also run on the Nintendo Switch and Dark Souls 3 is running on the Nintendo Switch.
they haven't said anything about DS3 yet they said yes about 1 and two though
Mist&Misty wut ^ no they said that DS3 is running with a performance they are happy with :P
Sid Patil which honestly could mean anything, but at any rate at least 1080P 30FPS.
If so I would be more than happy to get it for the switch come of my favorite series but if I have to play it shitty frames like I did on Xbox one I will mentally die...
Mist&Misty 30 FPS isn't too bad, that's what most games back then ran at.
what are your thoughts about the rumor about the switch having a peripheral for VR
I think if they have VR then it will be good but only in terms of accommodating as much as they can for as many as they can. Even if they have VR I probably will not use it.
you "switch"ed your mind, hhahahahaughghgg sorry
lol not bad
deathcrustpunk Hahahahaha That was corny funny. Love it.
I have a brother who barely cares about anything Nintendo except zelda and he shows more hype than I do for the Switch. He also has a friend who at first wanted the Switch to fail because he was a Nintendo hater, but it grew on him in a month, and now he is hyped for the system. As for me, while I am overall optimistic for the Switch, I want to be cautious and wait until January. And I will get it if I like what I see. We even have these discussions where we talk to each other about the consoles. I say to everyone to just wait, don't jump to conclusions, no matter what you think.
That's the one lesson that nobody understands: patience.
Maybe Nintendo was like, "You bitch...." and proceeded to prove you wrong xD
Thank you for finally understanding! Took you long enough but hey we're excited too!
bwhahha
I don't do mobile gaming..*two shelves of DS and 3DS games in the background* :D
Mobile Gaming =/= Handheld Gaming
Brendan Henshaw Just a joke. C'mon, you didn't find that a little funny? The Switch reminded me of a portable Wii U gamepad more than a tablet with all of the stuff it was doing. I hope they release some vertical shooters on it so I can play them in Tate mode.
I was excited for the system from the start. Mind you, I'm not going to be playing it on the go. I don't do that. The excitement came from them going back to the drawing board, giving us a proper gamer's console that has the benefit of being portable, and most importantly, advertise it properly.
Definitely buying it come day one release.
better pre-order it you know how nintendo is.
StarcoLover what do you mean?
You better wait for the thing to come out because knowing Nintendo you weren't wrong.
I'm not into phone or tablet gaming either for the same reason; either the games are absurdly simplistic to accommodate the limitations of touch controls (like Temple Run) or they try to scam you with micro transactions (like Candy Crush Saga) or the touch controls are useless due to a lack of any kind of feedback. I have a 3DS for portable gaming and and a PC for my primary gaming system; I haven't bought a console since the PlayStation 2 and the GameCube. But I am very excited about the Switch and am planning to get one, I haven't been this excited about a console since the SNES! My video gaming history goes all the way back to 1978 and the Atari VCS so I've been doing this a while...
Fixy Clary You are missing out on 3ds. I absolutely love my 3ds, one of the best systems ever and is mobile gaming masterpiece....
James Kibirige Actually I own both a new 3DS XL and a crystal blue 2DS...
Fixy Clary Ok mobile gaming is wack though you are correct, but I think that is because of the controls. There are some good controller add ons that make it more viable because touch controls are terrible.
Yeah you can keep the system docked. But that option is there if decide to immediately take your game, in the exact moment where you are in that game, and go. Also, we still don't know much of it at all until January. If you go back and watch the demonstration on The Tonight Show, you can hear the fan when the system is docked but it goes off when it's taken out. So people are speculating that it's overclocked when it's in the dock and scales back when it's portable.
Well, I'm very excited about the Nintendo Switch too, but I'll wait maybe 4-6 months after its release to buy it, because it looks that the first production batch of any electronic device have some defect that is solved in the next or next two batches, so in my case I prefer to wait a little longer before to buy it.
The Game Master - My launch NES, SNES, GameBiy, N64, GCN, GBA, Wii, DS, 3DS & Wii-U all still work. The NES is a bit touchy with that push down loading thing but still works once it loads. I don't think Nintendo go to the cheap & nasty manufacturers Sony & MS do.
That's a good point, Nintendo is not as cheap as those other two, then I'll buy it as soon as it came out... if doesn't sold out too quick.
The Game Master I still wouldn't recommend pre order, just I don't think it will have the plague of issues most other systems get. Even Sega were really good, I don't think I know anyone with a dead Sega unit that wasn't damage by miss treatment.
If this thing doesn't have a flood of reports of dead units after a couple weeks I doubt they ever will.
I never said something a bout pre-order.
The Game Master I know I was just implying I wouldn't encourage pre order confidence in hope to get the 1st batch of systems as you said they be hard to find due to selling out, but wait a couple weeks for a second batch of systems to get to shops should give us notice of how good/bad the failure rate of the thing will be.
Not sure what it's like for shops for you but you can place a deposit to secure a unit at stores here that's 100% refundable, so I can wait for later batch so I can find out about failure rates and if they are bad I can cancel my order. Like XBox...
Dude, you can't be wrong about something until it actually comes out. We can hype it all we want, but if it's a steaming pile of poo when it comes out then I fully expect you to call it that. But to decide on it from commercials? Promos? Eh. It's all noise until you have it in your hands and can actually review it.
But they never shown touch controls...
Ngrim : That's all I was thinking to myself too. This guy is not very detail oriented. There was nothing mobile gaming about the Switch in the Nintendo video. In fact the only aspect of the Switch that can be called mobile is it's processor, and even that isn't entirely true. The ARM architecture has come a long way, and is quickly catching up to X86. Hell, even some servers are starting to run on ARM platforms. Sad misinformed click bait is what I have seen from this guy so far.
KidAmnesiac2001 yeah, I don't get it
so you watched the trailer, which shows no sign of touchscreen controls and actually emphasized the unique controllers and the ability to SWITCH between home and mobile, and assumed it would have primarily touch controls and be used on mobile.
incredible system...I wonder if we will be able to play retro games on the switch.
MartyMarvsRetroWorld No reason to believe we won't see Virtual Console on the Switch. It is a revenue stream for Nintendo to get money from the older titles that they wouldn't want to give up.
MartyMarvsRetroWorld Depends on nintendo. I mean they just released the NES Mini. But I think they will continue with Virtual Console
There will be virtual console on the switch , but I also think that GameCube games will also be downloaded like ssbm and such
You aint no god damned son of a bitch :-)
Eric Nolen You better think about it baby!
They didn't show any touch control
did they ever claim that? i was hoping it wouldnt have touch controls this time around.
I think storage and battery life could be a problem. Not to mention they're only shipping 2 million for that patented Nintendo artificial shortage. Until they stop that bullshit I'm only buying used Nintendo products.
The only thing Nintendo is doing wrong with the Switch right now is advertising it as a home gaming console. If they advertised it as the most powerful handheld ever, that can also be played like a normal console, that would attract a LOT more people. Too many one-dimensional mindsets are viewing it as "oh it's not PS4 Pro level powerful? It's stupid then."
Amen, pal
ShadowRaptor1O1 I couldn't agree more.
ShadowRaptor1O1 i
They advertise is as both a console and a handheld in all their marketing and ever since the first video reveal. They literally do what for some reason you say they're not doing. Are you blind or something?
cliffnotes: I am a hysterical nerd that takes himself way too important and shits on stuff without reason, just for the sake of it.
I'm defintlyn excited to switch it up...
Danni Dolphin Leave.
huh?
Danni Dolphin Its an internet joke. Whenever someone makes a pun we say "leave" or "get out"
Oh lol, Well I make puns all the time. Thanks for letting me know tho. haha
Well it was a good pun Danni nothing wrong with wanting to MAKE THE SWITCH :)
"What nVidia is capable of.
You mean a console less powerful than the WiiU?
blah blah blah. You are more worried about numbers than games. Sad.
I see people leaving comments about this thing being horrible however you have 60 million plus that bought a 3DS and with that in my opinion those people that bought the 3DS will more than likely go out to buy the Switch and Nvidia fans might to and to play the new Zelda game at home or on the go will capture those fans the same with Skyrim sure you can play it on PC Xbox One and PS4 however you can't play it on the go
Well just because people you know bought a 3DS doesn't mean every other person is like that I mean there's 7 billion people in the world and I'm sure not every family in a house has a bunch of people that buy a 3DS PS4 is a great system it's outselling Xbox One big time everything is about console sales some people say no but it is and with the Switch being a handheld plus hooking up to your tv I think it will sell more than Xbox One
Walther Penne 3ds is the worst handheld what a load of bollocks, the worst handheld is easily the ps vita with it's garbage game's library. You talk absolute nonsense and are completely ignorant.I've had my 3ds for 3 years never had a problem with it,you probably don't look after your possessions don't blame nintendo.
Walther Penne I've got the New 3DS and it's awesome. It's my favorite system and I have all the systems. Great games with portability make it a must buy.
I was also very disappointed in the Switch at first. I hated the docking station and the joy cons. I was concerned that the docking station would scratch the screen of the tablet part, and that the locking mechanism for the joy cons would fail when people use the system as a handheld. I'm still concerned about how well they work, but I'm hoping Nintendo did enough testing to know. As I saw more videos about the Switch, I liked it more and more. I think the Switch has the potential to be a great gaming system, and I'm definitely getting one.
For sure, I'm stoked!
My only concern is money. Even if they are not launch titles as in releasing on the same day as the console I strongly believe that there are a lot of games coming next year that I know I already want and do not think I can get all at once:
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
Seasons of Heaven
Skyrim
Dragon Quest 11
Pokemon Stars
Monster Hunter XX
and now that gamecube VC is also coming out for the Switch I can FINALLY play Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I think people underestimate how much games are going to be releasing next year alone. Games that I also think we are going to see but ones I do not really plan on getting
Pikimin
Pokken Tournament
Mario RPG (a new one that I believe has been confirmed)
GTA V (okay this one I might get, not sure yet)
Dark Souls Trilogy (which I believe has also been confirmed)
Mario Kart
Splatoon
I am excited :)
Gimme those new titles! I played all the old stuff. lol
WAIT WHAT!? DARK SOULS CONFIRMED!? WHEN!?
Sorry I was wrong to say confirmed. My apologies but the source of the leak is very reliable though.
metro.co.uk/2016/12/07/dark-souls-trilogy-could-come-to-nintendo-switch-claims-rumour-6306504/
I'm still hyped as shit XD I hope From Soft pulls through so damn bad right now
Yeah look I must say that I am worried about third party support but I do know there will be enough games for me to play at the very least. Also the VC is gonna be a huge bonus because with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess added to the mix the amount of Zelda games that I have not yet played shrinks. Sadly i will never be able to get skyward sword
I am not sure why people wanted Switch to be an Xbox Junior, or a Playstation Junior console. But I have noticed these are almost the exact same people who think that monstrosity of a controller the Gamecube had was the best controller ever made. I think there's a correlation between Gamecube fandom and not grasping the industry.
Interesting theory. I like the GC controller though. lol
I don't know much about tech but to me I think Nintendo stole the idea from Morphus X300. The Switch looks very much like Morphus X300 and now I see Nintendo in court. I think the Switch will do just as bad as the Wii U in sales.
idiot! the switch has already proved it can hold games like Skyrim and Bethsaida already said they support it so you are wrong the switch will succeed !!
The Switch will fail. The numbers will be at or worse than WiiU. This things DOA already. Only Nintendo fanboys refuse to see the truth that Nintendo's days are numbered.
Icecoolgaming tdt Dumbass you don't know if the Switch will succeed, Why buy Skyrim on the Switch when you can buy it on a PS4 or PC.
I personally think the Switch will do better than the Wii U and the ps4 pro. But that is just my opinion, so I'm not gonna say that it is true or false, much like your own opinions. Only time will tell.
devil king I see your father left you.
I was underwhelmed with the Switch Preview and I'm still underwhelmed now. Very little information has been confirmed since then and every day is still full of new theories, rumours and speculation. I get excited by the games on a console and the features that make the platform great to use and so far have seen nothing confirmed that really interests me.
I'm not saying this won't change as official announcements come out, but then I recall EA's unprecedented relationship, Rayman Legend's exclusivity and Yooka-Laylee being developed with the WiiU as the core console platform. Gaming is a fickle environment and I'll wait for the potential of the Switch to deliver what I want before considering a purchase, rather than get carried away by excitement for re-mastered games I've already bought or features that I don't intend to use.
I remember all that, trust me. lol
The system looks really promising but I think it's going to have a battery life span which is worse than the game gear . The battery technology simply isn't there yet. Unless they had a breakthrough no one knows about.
Lior Nachmias That would be shitty. Definitely a concern . GG battery life was pretty terrible, lol.
ArtOfCamelot yeah you want the battery to last for back and forth commuting at least.😁
Lior Nachmias 5-8 hours rumored battery
TonyDaExpert I just wish it's the truth ,so that we don't end up with some gargantuan 1 kilo add on to extend our gaming time on the go.
if they are going to use what the chinese leak said, also pascal, if they are using that architecture, the thing will last 20-40% longer for the same performance of the shield.
I feel like this is the perfect storm for Nintendo...Microsoft and Sony game sells didn't hit expectations this holiday season and these companies have a heavy reliance on 3rd party support. I blame it on the top 3rd parties just relying on sequels that basically feel like the same game, reskinned and remastered versions of old games. Meanwhile, Nintendo, who is undeniably the most creative first party developer, has a console/mobile hybrid in the works and it has 3rd party interest as well as the interest of gaming fans. This new console is about to make a huge impact on the gaming community and I will be so bold as to say Nintendo will retake the top position in console sells in the next few years.
The timing is right if something big is going to happen for Nintendo. Kinda like 2Pac - All Eyez On Them
The timing is right if something big is going to happen for Nintendo. Kinda like 2Pac - All Eyez On Them
yo me to I don't like that portable shit. ima most deff get the switch but probably never going to undock it.
двести двадцать and that's okay, the beauty of it is that you get options
I must admit myself I was angry about the system, but after seeing and hearing more about it. I opened up and started to like it...
I was the same with propane and propane accessories my friend.
I think it looked good then and now to be honest
You look like that weird guy from the Hangover lol
Zach Galifianakis
Don't reveal my identity.
Personally I'm not excited until we get concrete facts regarding the Switch. looks cool but just seems like what the Wii U should have been
It's gonna be maybe the best console that Nintendo had ever sold.
You're a nice, genuine youtuber with a lot to say and a great way of showing it. Keep up the great work!
Thanks bud!
I'm looking forward to it. A nice option would be a non-portable version that's $100 cheaper.
How did you manage to predict my lovely Switch Lite?
Dude if you've never played some of the 3ds library of course you're going to hate handheld gaming.
siiiiiiiiiiiigh. lol. First, do you not see the massive 3DS collection behind me? When I say mobile gaming I mean phones and tablets. Not dedicated handhelds.
Well have you played it or is it just for display? Because you still doubted apparently and as we know Nintendo kills the handheld market so the transition shouldn't have made you doubt. But I digress you've seen the light and that is all that matters.
I think the switch is a looking to be a pretty neat little system and im interested in possibly getting one but my biggest problem with the last 2 generations of nintendo consoles is just a lack of 3rd party support and to many dry spells with hardly anything coming out. If they can solve that issue i would definately love to pick one up when it comes out
Sometimes in life we are wrong about things and when I’m wrong about something I like to admit it, whenever I make a mistake in the video I do go to the comment section and let you guys know when I made a mistake and when I misspoke on something etcetera etcetera, and when the nintendo switch was first showcased in nintendo's little presentation, I wasn't very happy with what I saw and I made a video expressing my concerns about the nintendo switch and while it seems like I was trying to be somewhat unbiased I was actually pretty disappointed in what I saw but as time has gone on as we have seen more of the nintendo switch I’m here to say that I was wrong! About the nintendo switch so this video I kinda just wanna give you the backstory about why I was wrong with the nintendo switch and why I have changed my mind, so let's find out why I’m now excited for the nintendo switch.
go on. lol
The biggest confirmation involving the Switch's power is the fact that Dark Souls 3 is getting ported to it. It means, to me, that the Switch is going to be powerful enough to handle almost all XBone and PS4 games.
Didn't think of that, being more for ease of taking the system to a friend's house, rather than being a full-on handheld system. Hmmm. Back when my friends and I used to have massive Xbox LAN parties with Halo, it was a pain lugging all those huge systems sometimes.
The Switch is gonna be a fricken monster. Purpose-built Nvidia chip, optimized arm architecture and an in-house collaborative effort by Nvidia & Nintendo to create a custom coding U.I. for developers. All this and more to ensure optimization from top to bottom, not to mention going back to Nintendo's comfot-zone, cartriges... Nintendo has failed too many times lately for them to not put everything they have into the Switch... This is big...
I'm just picturing a Nintendo representative in a ski mask behind the camera, one hand pointing a gun at you and the other hand holding up the script. You'll have to forgive me; the video is twice as entertaining that way.
This video made me subscribe. it's refreshing to see humble people online these days.
Unlike most so-called gamers with a soapbox on RUclips, you came out and admitted you were wrong. That's the mark of a true gamer, in my eyes.
My stance on the system hasn't changed, which is simply sit back and wait, and see what it can do. Am I interested? Yes, but it's gonna take quite a lot this time from Nintendo, considering I traded in my Wii U for a PS4 last year right before that ship started sinking.
Yeah I'm not perfect, and I don't mind being wrong, especially in a case like this.
I was excited until i seen the prices... 70 dollars for a pro controller, 80 dollars for more joycons(without the 15 dollar center piece),30 dollar charger for it!
The Nintendo Swich was never an option for me. I used to be a Nintendo kid. I still own the NES, SNES, N64, NGC... but the Wii was fucking gimmicky and terrible, and the only reason it was a wide world success was because it pandered to stay at home moms and grandmas alike. The WiiU was a failure from day 1, so no points there either. Was never even considering getting a Switch, but then I saw the remake of Zelda - Link's Awakening. I think I need it... Haven't gotten one yet, but... it might happen.
why did i waste my time watching this. there was no good info it was basically 8 minutes of "I was wrong because I was biased towards mobile gaming" i wanted actual good info
Still not convinced,i'm done with all the gimmicks!
That's fair
what i like the most bout the switch is that to you is a home console that can play the games portable but to me is a portable that i can use it as a home console
+Santiago Alonso very true. It's versatile.
Hey Shawn, is there a way to watch your videos that went live? I always miss them, but you don't have them uploaded to the channel after they've aired.
Unfortunately not
Can you PLEASE do a video on What Developers are on board for the switch, and what your theories about games and such they will be bringing???
Pretty please dude?
I'm actually doing a podcast on Player Essence tonight at 11PM EST discussing that sort of stuff!
The Switch is starting to show a lot of promise. I hope it don't disappoint. I am hoping for an F-Zero for it myself. I just think the mobile part is a way to have seamless gaming if you are at home then have to go somewhere you can keep playing.
2:20 You don't DO mobile gaming and yet you have a Gameboy and a 3DS and you were worried about the Switch replacing the 3DS? You seem to contradict yourself.
Mobile meaning phones and tablets. When the fuck did mobile and handheld become one in the same?!
Yeaaaah....maybe wait until the full specs and facts comes out before hating or liking the system would help...
HaHa I Remember My Comment Telling You That SWITCH Is Going To Be Nice!!...I'm Happy You Changed Your Mind!! Good Video Bro..
I'm very confused at your comparison to tablet gaming and Nintendo's alleged emphasis on touch screen gaming as not one single promotional video from Nintendo has yet to even include depictions of users interacting with its touch screen
Nintendo Switch looks cool, but I've been focusing on lots of retro stuff. When I see your NES collection, I get a little bit jealous. Would you say it's harder to collect NES stuff these days, especially boxed? I have a good sized PS1, PS2 collection and a variety of other stuff, but my NES collection is mini compared to yours. To be fair, I have tons on emulation, but for actual physical carts, you have a lot more Nintendo stuff than me. I'm wondering if I should collect more carts, or get other stuff.
***** Yea.. I kind of have to give up on that.
Joe Budd Just get the modules. If the boxed ones are too expensive or non existent the moment I buy my games, I'll stick with the module.
Nero Tex What is module
Joe Budd
I was meant to say Cartridge, sorry for that. I guess I was thinking something else while typing :p
The Switch is not the least bit unique. It's a tablet with an HDMI port which we've seen for years now. It has wireless controllers which we've seen for years now. It has 3D games which we've seen for years now.
Currently the rgt 85 channel has become a Nintendo switch focus stream
This is the first video of yours that I've watched, so I'm not familiar with whatever bias you might have had, but kudos to you for taking the time and effort to come online and make a video about admitting that you're wrong. (I don't think that your first impressions were 'wrong' per se, but just, as you've alluded to, misplaced perhaps). I personally think it takes a lot of character and courage to admit when you're wrong, so you sir have my respect and deserve applause for doing so. I hope, like you, that Nintendo realizes it's mishaps, repents and humbles themselves, only then can they change and improve. Anyway, have a Merry Christmas and New Years dude, and here's to kick starting the year with a bang Nintendo style, with a console that will (hopefully) improve and 'switch' things up for the next console generation and gaming in general. Blessings, Steven L :D.
+Steven Long thanks bud. And nice last name.
Np :D. Thanks dude, ditto
Unless this thing has streetpass or something it's staying in its dock.
I'm still not decided on the Switch. I'm more interested in it than the PlayStation and the Xbox consoles. I guess we'll see if Nintendo mucks it up or the game industry kills itself with financial and political bullshit.
I do agree with you in that I had more questions and concerns after the initial Switch reveal. After they skipped E3 this year for a Switch reveal I knew that they really had to wow us with whatever they were going to show this year. Especially after waiting so long with absolutely no news or info on when they were going to show it off. I am feeling more confident about the switch. Especially after hearing that third parties were making original ip's for the system, and not just ports. I'm still reserved on the games blowing me away when they are showed off in January, but I do feel a little better about the console as a whole, and the potential for innovation from the system. At least it seems to be more of a future technology device than the Wii U which was loaded with old tech from the start.
+James Nothing77 it's looking solid for sure
How can 3rd party developers make games for the switch when it's less powerful than PS4? They can't unless they make really low end ports of AAA games and they're not going to do that. So Nintendo will be in the same position as it is with Wii U, no 3rd party support.
The Switch has already been confirmed to be as powerful as the base Xbox One. That means there is not going to be low end ports of AAA games dude!!!
fireheartis1 No it hasn't. It has a Nvidia tegra 1 chip in it,the same chip as Nvidia shield. The switch won't be even as powerful as Nvidia shield because they've downclocked the clock speeds
M.F. Luder Most 3rd party games are broken garbage that don't even get patches from developers so you end up with a game you can't even play.
Paul Barnes Most...really?
hippiestoneman Who needs third party when their games are a broken mess with bugs, glitches causing your console to freeze up. Nobody buy's third party games on the wii u because they were lazy bad port's with missing dlc and we're overall inferior versions.Third party developers abandon nintendo consoles because nintendo fans don't buy their games and I don't blame them.I bought loads of third party games to support them but half of them were broken they didn't even work properly and never got patched a total waste of money. It's funny how nintendo game's actually work and are bug free but third party games always have some kind of problem one way or the other.
Did you get that invite to try the Switch early?
seriously, you are just hoping on the bandwagon, when ppl bash the Wii u, u and many did.and you thought the bashing trends carries on to the nx, you carry on bashing. now everyone is saying it's cool, now you are on that bandwagon again... very much like many many many so call online reviewers.
+blvk3 you don't know me obviously. Go watch me on Nintendo Enthusiast idiot.
RGT 85 i have seen enough of you, and i wont give you anymore clicks
;p
I was one of those few people who (when first watching the trailer) felt blah. Blank. I was more confused than anything. Much like you, the handheld aspect was throwing me off a bit. I once loved my 3DS, but handheld gaming has never been my biggest thing. I didn't even care about handhelds until the DS Lite. My concern was that there was TOO MUCH emphasis on the portability in the trailer, and I feared that it was going to cause the main console part to somehow be weaker, or...less superior than it could have been. I also thought that the games showcased in that trailer (aside from Mario and Zelda) were boring. But, I understand why they showed them. I instantly loved the design, and the Switch name. All in all, I feel much more positive about the Switch than I EVER did with the Wii U. I think it's going to be the next Wii (in terms of sales). All of the positive things that developers (and rumors) are saying has strengthened my positive thinking.
It makes sense dude
I think this certainly is the successor to the 3DS. I think one of most exciting aspect of the Switch is that now we have the joined efforts of the mobile and home console developers on one device. All of the best Nintendo mobile franchises can now be played in 1080p on the TV, and all of the best Nintendo home console franchises can now be played in 720p on the go. It sounds perfect to me. And with new Tegra tech behind it touted to be around XBONE power, maybe even closer to PS4, I'm super duper stoked. I frankly don't know what more people want from Nintendo.
The 3DS will probably be phased out by the Switch. Especially with the two being around the same price. Everyone would pay $250-300 over $200 for better screen, higher graphics power, more functionality, and longer battery life. I didn't get hyped up about the Switch until I realized this Black Friday and holiday season how hot of a consumer item the 3DS is that it's still sold out everywhere till this day. Merging both handheld and console markets into one unit could be a stroke of genius.
