Again a very nicely done educational video Rich. I always enjoy watching your videos. About half the time I end up breaking the tail bone though. Then the work starts. Keep the videos coming.
Great job on mink, love working with them and otters. I like tucking the front legs inside. I also use a female board to flesh em with the triangle shaped flesher. Take care love your show.
You'd be amazed at how many lights are on me while videoing this! LOL But there is never a perfect exposure, it seems if I can light the fur right then I'm over exposed and blown out. That and i have to keep moving things around on the table creating my own shadows as well.
I remove it all. I have too there is so much fat under it. Muskrat you leave the saddle on and i'm told that some mink back east don't have fat under the saddle and you leave it on as well.
Hi Rich could you tell me what the dimensions of your skinning beams are as I intend to get my hands on some pipe so these sizes would be great, Thanks MT
I don't honestly know the dimensions. I took a medium mink board and traced around it on the pipe and cut it out and rounded the edges. I did the same for all the boards, one for fisher/fox, coyote/lynx and otter all fit on another. As long as board isn't too big it will work well.
Trapping Inc TV Series ok thanks I thought perhaps you had measured your beams once you built them, they look to be about 3 foot in length does that sound right.
I know one thing is on the females of any animal we always have to watch out for the nipples and not cut holes in the skins..one of the things we had to learn and try to prevent
Thanks Rich , Appreciate each and every video you and your wife put out. Thankyou.
Thanks! Please share our videos to spread the word.

Mink are a lot of work for such a small package! LOL
I hope you and Sandy are doing good during these trying times. Great information BTW.

Good tips, thanks!
Very nice!! I have never seen saw dust used before and now I plan on using it 👍
It is awesome for the fat critters!
Good video Richard! A suggestion, if I may.... how about an independant light source? Especially when you are behind the bench.... Cheers.

@@TrappingIncTV Ah..... the trials and tribulations of a famous movie star eh? Thanks....
It all seems so EASY in the begining! LOL
Just wondering if you use a belly board on mink with those wooden strechers. Thanks for sharing and all the best to you guys.
I don't but many do. If you don't pay attention they hide can be hard to get off the board if you let it over dry.
Great video Richard. Quick question did you remove the saddle when you were scrapping, I thought it was suppose to stay on.
I remove it all. I have too there is so much fat under it. Muskrat you leave the saddle on and i'm told that some mink back east don't have fat under the saddle and you leave it on as well.
@@TrappingIncTV western mink like rich said they are too fat saddle off, back east we left it on, kept wiping them down as they dried
That is what I was told by a fellow from the east. When you work with a western mink you can't imagine not taking off that saddle! LOL
This is great, thank you so much.
You are welcome!
Like this type of videos 👍👍
Thanks!
what size belly wedge do you use on the mink?

@@TrappingIncTV thanks ,im making new boards and wedges for fha spec.

Yes there is 3' of usable beam. The total length for the keyway is 42"
