Can you use the glands to make a lure?🤔 Is it 1 or 2 glands like beaver? Oil and castor. They might make good socks. Can't wait for more wolf videos. Damn things really did a number on our Yellowstone animals. ☠😡 🙂Thank you from Montana USA just under Alberta.
Out of all the weasel family, which is your favorite and what weasel is easiest to skin? I really enjoyed the lil bit of n Otter that I got to do, however, I'd really like a fisher. Need a lot of land to take one fisher.
We do. We just don't put them on RUclips anymore. They can shove their censorship. We have all 9 seasons and soon season 10 up here. trappinginc.locals.com
forming boards are made specifically for each animal and for male/female of the species as well small, medium and large. fur havesters auction has template sizes on line.
do you use a belly board? How long does your weasels hang before you sell them to the fur buyer? Just started my trap line and caught a few today. Following your video on the skinning technique. Thank you very much!
@TrappingIncTV thanks!! I have a batch that's been hanging for 48 hours with wood stove as a heart source. Do you leave hanging all season or how do you store until shipping? Thanks again for all your videos!
I know its been a while since this was posted, but is there any way to board a weasel fur without an actual stretching board? Can i stretch the fur by hand?
I know this has been up a minute but I’m hoping you still might answer My cat caught a stoat and it sat for about 5 hours on a warm day then was frozen is that to long for it to have sat for the fur to stay in? Second question do you do anything besides letting them dry or do they need to be tanned?
Check in the groin belly area once it thaws to see if the hair is slipped. It will pull out easily. If not you will be good to go. A dried fur is still a raw fur. It must be tanned for long term durability or use.
@@TrappingIncTV thanks for the help got it skinned lost a couple feet a part of the tail and some of the head that was nibbled on lol threw all my man handling the fur held on so I’ll take that as it’s good to tan Any tips on that process?
You waited to long to skin the weasel. Weasel slip very quickly especially in the belly area. Meat eaters and the enzymes in their guts keep heating after they are dead.
That was the best how-to weasel skin, flesh an boarding video I've seen yet. Great lighting an instruction Rich.
Well sort of. My clamp was in the way from the one direction and my hand from the other. It'll get better.
Great video and instruction! We love watching your shows! My son just started running his own Ermine line this winter and is having a blast!
Those are the best days, starting out running a trapline as a kid!
I really enjoy your how to shows. Most shows have lots of field sets etc .i like how you break things up. Yhanks Rich.
Thank you, I appreciate the compliment.
Great info, thanks for sharing.
Cheers!
Thank you Rich and Sandi for the educational videos.
More on the way as I get into the edit suite full time.
@@TrappingIncTV That must be where the real work begins, eh Rich?
@@ryankinch9366 Yeah, 2 days in and it doesn't look like I've accomplished anything!!
A well done job !
Thank you!
hey man thank you so much for this, was my first time and this video helped me a ton!💜
Glad I could help!

Lots of lure makers use the glands, single stage gland one on each side of the vent!!
Good job 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
What are you using to strip the feet? Would it be easy to make something similar using a large nail?
Basically what I use a big nail welded to a angle iron.
Out of all the weasel family, which is your favorite and what weasel is easiest to skin?

Marten hands down. A nice size to skin and easy to skin, just about no fat and very little in the way of fleshing
When you hit the glands, how do you get the smell/stain out of the fur?
tanning takes care of that. I don't worry about it.
Why don't you make anymore videos
We do. We just don't put them on RUclips anymore. They can shove their censorship. We have all 9 seasons and soon season 10 up here. trappinginc.locals.com
@@TrappingIncTV I hear ya RUclips is WOKE!!!
What are you using for those little fleshing beams for them? Just fence pickets?

Excellent video Man thanks
Glad you enjoyed it

I don't use a belly board and usually 24 hours is long enough. I ship fur usually once a season .

I know its been a while since this was posted, but is there any way to board a weasel fur without an actual stretching board? Can i stretch the fur by hand?
no. Stretching is a misnomer. Forming board is the correct term and the board hold the pelt in the correct size and shape to dry.
@@TrappingIncTV oh okay! I'm new to fur handling. I'm 17 and I want to be a taxidermist when I'm a lot older. Thank you for telling me!
@@INFERNALREQUIEMMUSIC you are welcome and good luck!
What is the thing u use to do the legs
I tapered a bolt to a dull point and welded it to a piece of angle iron to mount on my bench
I use steel wool to flesh weasel and marten works great.
I know folks that use a wool sock.
Do you tan any of your hides? Every time I watch your video's I learn something.
I usually leave that to the experts.
How about a Least Weasel?
No value at all.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO RICH
Glad you enjoyed it!

That is an easy 2 bucks. Rich, how do they skin the weasel when they leave the skull intact with the fur?
Two years ago that was $9.14 USD! I would suspect the have put a plastic taxidermy skull back in.
@@TrappingIncTV
Rich, I saw a man do it on the show "Mountain Men", he leaves the skull in.
@@jameswelch1054 Some TV magic there. At minimum the skull has to come out for cleaning and removal of the brain, otherwise things stick in a hurry!
You don't get the blood out of the fur?
No.
I followed and all the hair fell out of the weasel

Pizza money...
Yep! Lots of pizza coming this guys way.
