- Today we're doing a light an shadow study using a forest. RIght aftrer a quick peek at my studio desk so you can see how organized (or not) I am.
Thanks for joining me this year in this watercolor journaling journey. I hope to paint in my journal most days of the year and invite you to join me. We don't need big resolutions, just gentle intentions to tend to our creative soul a little bit everyday. And learn a little something along the way.

I love your focused studies on one concept without getting lost in the details. They're very helpful!
I’m so glad it was helpful. Sometimes we just have to focus on one thing.
I’m so happy to have found your videos! You’re the exact type of instructor I was looking for! Right to the point, no blahblahblah! Thank you!
I’m so glad you found me too! 😁 thanks for watching.
The shadows transform a picture. Thanks for showing how to do it .
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. 😊
This was very helpful for me! Thank you Shana! I love imagining light and shadow in landscapes, but not yet manage to capture it in my pictures in a way that translates as I want it to. This practice really made me sink my teeth into the topic! Very inspiring!
Bless you!😀🍀💖
A great visual about shadows and light. Thanks for making this so clear. Now we get to try and do it!
Thanks for the lesson!!!
You make it look so easy but doing my best to follow you 😂😂😂x
😍👍🏻👍🏻🥰💖💖
Love your desk! It looks like mine 😂
🖌️🎨😊
Liked, subscribed, and notifications are on! (I found you when Diane Antone put out a video inspired by one of your videos and she credited you.) In support of the comment requesting clarification on which "phthalo" you use, I am compelled to point out that unless a newcomer watches this video first, they will likely have the same question about other videos that use "phthalo". I find a lot of RUclipsrs seem to forget that any one of their videos (some dating back years!) could be the "first one" for someone. I encourage you to always add the "blue" when using it from now on.
Thank you for following. 😁
Which brush are you using for the trees please
I used a size 10 for the trunk and size 4 for the leaves. Both are Princeton velvet touch brushes.
Thank you for another great video Shana 🙂 I have a question please . . . . . Do you only use Qor paints? I have built up a small collection of Kuretake, Meeden and Winsor & Newton . . . . some are tubes that I have put into pans/palettes. I sometimes think "I never need to buy paints any more because it will take forever to use what I've got!! Is it just preference or a good practice to stick to one type do you think?
If you like your paints then there is no need to switch or buy others. QOR is just my personal preference. But I have painted with Windsor and Newton and Daniel Smith. I teach
Classes with Windsor and Newton.
