    10 year Boston driver here. I can’t bring myself to celebrate just yet because there seem to be some pitfalls that seem in the settlement. The first is that Uber and Lyft are allowed the leeway to make offers that reach $32/hr averaged over a 2 week period! Not per trip! This just stinks to high heaven for me as a way for them to manipulate the numbers in their favor. Another issue with this agreement is there is no accounting for mileage! So no differentiation between trip distances, so it will still not benefit longer trips. I’m glad that there’s restitution on the way and some benefits, but seems like they acquiesced to too many conditions that U/L want.

      Meanwhile in Cleveland, when I used to average never Uber 35 an hour up to 45 best weeks, I made 14 dollars in 4 hours, last week in 27 hours I averaged 16.6 dollars per hour. Just thank your senators and your lucky stars bc we paying for your wages

    4:59 well, to pay $32.50 in Massachusetts maybe the pay less in others markets to compensate and keep the greed.

    The back pay ($175 million) always great to get. What do these companies owe in other states?
    Also for those of you wanting this Massachusetts deal in your state be careful what you wish for. These companies will find a way to definitely throttle this/you as much as possible. Also why would you want a "cap" per hour. The true thing we should be fighting for is no more up front fares and better per mile and per minute rates! This way you are still in control of your income.

    I bet that they won’t send drivers 8 miles away to pick up a 2 mile ride in these areas, like the rest of the country

  • @stoneyblues

    My day today speaks volumes to that. 9 hours online still have 9 hours driving time. How the hell does that add up to 12 hours. Mass drivers about to get throttled to one 8 dollar and change for 15 minutes and thats 32.50 hr on booked time. straight up Rates for time and mileage the only way to go.

    • @cliff1291
      @cliff1291 3 месяца назад

      1). It hasn’t taken effect yet. So you’re complaining about the current state of affairs as it exists, which would mean U/L already do this before any court victories, given your theory.
      2). Not all markets are are good. Some areas have higher or lower traffic, car ownership, etc. However, U/L should still pay fairly.
      3). If you want any legislative victories, then vote out republicans primarily.

    Most of us Boston uber drivers, with common sense, make over $32.50/hour. Those of us who cherry pick rarely go without a ride. Idle time is minimal due to the rapid fire trip radar combined with regular uber pings. Long distance, anything over 25 miles, rides, we here complaints from riders about wait times, and explain the 45/55 split, in Uber/Lyft favor therefore they are stuck. They don't call us Massholes for nothing. But this deal should have been nothing less than an 75/25 or 70/30 split not some bogus $32.50 active hour BS. Contractors such as Plumbers, Electricians, construction workers aren't paid that way. Why should we but then again, they don't have desperate workers.

    • @Quickcat21MK

    • @Flavor88
      @Flavor88 3 месяца назад

      I agree with most of what you wrote. The online time is just you sitting there expecting a ping, and you don't get paid. It would be much better to have the 70/30 as they bogusly claim.

    I watch the channel “Uber-Boston guy” and he said this settlement won’t really affect him because he cherry picks and he makes more than $32.50 anyway, because there’s always surge there. He said the settlement will only go to the drivers who drive for base pay so he probably won’t be getting anything from that settlement either

  • @Quickcat21MK

    32.50 an hour. Is cut in half. For a given hour of time, 50% of it is spent not doing pickups. And the other half is picking up an dropping off. So its 32.50 divided by 2. Which is what, 16 an hour. I am actively lobbying to have the problem fixed legislatively. We do get sick time now. Drivers had nothing to do with it, it was all the AG, now acting governor, and uber an lyfts legal teams negotiation. Good luck.

    • @cliff1291
      @cliff1291 3 месяца назад +1

      Not entirely, under the new MA requirements on U/L they specify that active time to pickup and the trip itself are part of the $32 per active hour.

      @@kevinmiller4590some areas are more than others. Sometimes in Boston it’s back to back to back. But sometimes it routes me from downtown to say Dorchester, or mattapan, or rosindale. The further from that area, the longer the wait. Its a good change in the right direction but I still think it has room for improvement. Thanks for the kind words.
