T REX Arms just did a video recently where he brought an airsofter from Japan to the US and saw how airsoft translated to real firearms with someone who has never fired or even handled a real firearm before. To say the Japanese dude did phenomenally is almost an understatement. Gun ranges simply aren't as accessible as airsoft facilities are and then there is the force on force element that you just cannot duplicate at a gun range. IMPROVISE, ADAPT, OVERCOME.....

@@octaviusnorvelantis8934 I really hate it when instructors do that. It brings absolutely nothing to the student. Good instructors immediately state what needs to be corrected after the shot, not during. Like the people who keep repeating "squeeze the trigger", which is probably the most useless advice for marksmanship possible. It is like telling someone "shoot better". Not to mention most marksmanship errors are actually not trigger control, but instead inconsistent sight alignment, improper recoil control (which leads to flinch), are really the biggest issues.

Playing airsoft against kids in a CQC environment is probably some of the best training you can get haha. Insanely fast, small, agile enemies jumping around at light speed and they may even know the place by heart, so id say fighting them is pretty difficult.
I got into playing airsoft at 46 with my son a few years back. I absolutely love it, even though it damn near kills me trying to keep up with kids and young adults that are more than half my age, it is absolutely worth it!
Heck, I'm 55 today and still play this game! I may not be as fast as I once was, but I still get out there and run with the kids and young adults on the field. I've been playing with my son for the last 7 years and he's now 22 and a senior in college and soon to enter the US Navy as an officer on a Nuclear sub. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most important aspect of airsoft. It gives you the ability to train with a fellow shooter that shoots back. Aka, instead of shooting at a nonmoving or moving predictable target. You are now shooting at a target that not only shoots back but also exhibits human behavior that will move strategically to take advantage of you. In addition, YOU ARE NOW ALSO A TARGET and you also have to move in a way as to not get SHOT or countered easily. That doesn't just mean speed, weapons manipulation, retention, or even marksmanship. However, you have to make choices that reflect yourself as a target and predict opponents' movements and counters. For example, do you go left? do you go right? When is a good time to move from this position? Where do I have to preemptively bring my sights towards? do you pop out higher? do you pop out low? When is a good time to flank? Should I consider this flank? What flanks does the other shooter have vs mine? What options does he have? What options do I have? Can I get there before I get shot? SHOULD I get there before I get shot? WHEN can I get there before I get shot? You don't get this with real weapons because you'll die every time you practice and you don't get any of that with paper targets even ones that move.
I have a six year old son and we just started getting into Nerf. Looking at Travis' son just smile with such admiration warms my cold black heart. That's what it's all about. With any luck, we will be doing the same thing in a few more years. What great father/son quality time!
This might be the greatest airsoft video I’ve ever seen. Seeing such a huge name like Haley from the real steel world stand by airsoft and support it is huge for the airsoft community. A lot of young airsofters play to get better at basic small arms combat. Trexs arms also did a video standing by airsoft dry firing. Gotta love it.
I am a ninth grader and I am an airsoft player. A lot of times I asked my dad to play Airsoft with me, He always refused by I have to work. This boy should appreciate his dad.
TRex arms is starting to get into Airsoft, I just watched their live stream today. Firearms and Airsoft crossover training is going to be revolutionary when people realize that it’s not as cringes as they think. But I won’t forget that you said this information to the masses first
"WHY TRAVIS HALEY PLAYS AIRSOFT?" To peddle his Haley strategic stuff to airsofters. Real steel people buy gear and never use it, airsoft people specially milsim guys use and abuse gear. Not saying he doesn't enjoy the father son bounding and genuinely having fun. But it's a win win win for him.
The amount of active duty, vets, and shooters that condescend me for not being a real steel shooter or not being military. And the deafening silence coming from their table after the first game when they get stitched up by me. And the eventual talking shop with me to figure out how i'm able to kill them so easily. Flat range time and drills are great for your techniques, but ask any fighter. You've got to learn how to fight before you learn techniques for the fight. All your drills and technical shooting doesn't mean shit if you don't know how to apply it when someone's going for your throat around the corner. If you can't put those skills together when it's just bb's and the only threat is the threat of being slightly stung. How do you expect to keep yourself together when your life is on the line and there's too much noise to think.
It’s a fun way to turn your hobby/job into something you can do with your friends. Shooting paper is only fun for so long. Airsoft allows us to shoot each other without having to bury each other, lol
Just because full matching military/tactical camouflage pattern outfits/uniforms are originally 4 military & swat teams/units doesn't mean they can't be 4 preppers/survivalists in the case of SHTF!
Well said. We do a lot of the cqb training with force on Force Airsoft because the fx ammunition is regulated here in Germany. So airsoft is anexcellent training plattform
Airsoft is great man. It introduced me to a whole different level of activity that is physically healthy for you, and it slowly brought me into real firearms.
Here in Australia, airsoft is illegal, and just got a small community of an alternative called gel blasters, they're pretty much your AEGs, but shoot a 6-7 mm wide ball of hyperabsorbent polymer, which is massively worse than airsoft, and I want it legalised because of the amount of people who would be interested in it and the benefits to the local and eventually national economy.
I wish general Army / Military would adopt airsorft esp for CQB and or certain battle drills for Force on Force and ditch the whole MILS and blue bolt ammo. The MILS gear is such trash and it trains for bad training scars. As soon as your stupid laser goes off you're "supposed" to just play dead instead of staying in the fight. It's also not accurate at all. The SIM rounds or blue bolt system is okay but you are constantly dealing with barrel jams or paint malfunctions esp with 249 link rounds. Plus, BB's seem to be sooo cheap and I think it would be great because of how customization weapons are now a days.
Some kid at school, im going to kick you're ass this week at airsoft. Saturday comes , Son shows up with dad (T. Haley ) Other kid , Wtf , this isn't fair. I quit. Im telling my mom you brought SOF team guys to play. T.Haleys kid.- Hehehehehe.
First leave I got after my last deployment I played airsoft with a bunch of kids and I absolutely wrecked them, from all ages from what I think the youngest was 11 to I think 16 or 17, a few of them tried to say I was cheating but I was like”naw man, just peak and pie your corners” I found myself teaching basic cqb fundamentals to a bunch of 8th graders. Had me feeling like I was cag or some shit lol
Travis Haley plays airsoft because he’s a charitable guy who likes to help beta males feel like big boys. Why join the army and go through infantry school, selection, the Q course, and multiple combat deployments when you can charge ye ‘ol credit card on crye precision and BB shooty guns and whole heartedly convince yourself you’re a special operator while playing next to Travis Haley. I hope he gets a tax deduction for his charity. God bless him.
As far as I’m concerned anybody that dismisses it outright just because you own real firearms is just foolish. They might have a laugh playing but airsoft will teach you the same basics of concealment etc that you’d learn with sim rounds, only it will hurt a fuck load less and is more accessible for people. (Also look at Trex arms video about skill transfer, the amount of reload practice etc they get 100% transfers over)
Yea I played paintball w. My buddies 2, younger brothers. Dude. They never get tired! They're super fast and quiet as hell haha They def. Whooped our butts Everytime we played against them
My dad hates guns so he absolutely doesn't like airsoft. It's hard for me to get gear without him yelling at me to return it. My mom says it's fine cause she takes me to games and I lost a lot of weight from it. Went from 130 to 111. I've been playing for 1 and a half years now but my gear sucks. That's why if your parents are cool and play, or let you buy airsoft stuff, be grateful.
Subbed! You got a cute kiddo. Reminds me of my son.good job sir! I played paint ball for years but never got into .A.S but I would still love to give it a shot. Pun intended 😀
I use a airsoft PEQ-15 on my real steel AR. Mainly use it for a flashlight since it’s very bright but I also found that it holds a true zero surprisingly. Airsoft products on real steel are a hit or miss I guess I got the hit 😉👏
wish I still had my collection of gear and guns. people who talk smack about airsoft probably don't like losing all the time. airsoft is best when it's enjoyed with good, honest, fun people.
If you ever wanted to see Travis Haley's other son, Garand Thumb (who we know as our "dad") to play airsoft together, go ahead and hit that like button.
Idk why people trash airsoft? I'd rather compete against real moving human targets in a CQC environment than stand behind a bench and shoot 1 round per second at a static paper target that doesnt shoot back...
I wish I had a dad that would play airsoft with me. He hates guns. (His dad was killed by a gun) He doesn’t even want to hear me talk about it. Really sucks.
I think its devil dog gamer or another marine RUclipsr but they said airsoft was one of the things that helped them with ptsd because it helped him get the mindset that not every weapon you see isn't going to kill you and not every loud bang is an IED
Airsoft kids may not have formal tactical training but they’ve got hundreds of hours of force on force. They’re going to do some shit you didn’t think of because no one ever told them that’s not how you turn a corner, enter a room, or whatever it is.
How would you like to be a father taking your kid to airsoft him thinking that you were going to be the best there then you realize that’s Travis Haley on the opposition team and your kid was going to see your lack of skills.
Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to this stuff and am interested in doing airsoft myself, but how do you find airsoft weapons without the orange tips?

They're super fast and quiet as hell haha
They def. Whooped our butts Everytime we played against them
Yoooo I played with Travis at VIP
Sooo... when does that belt come out?
Great vid Greg! Videos like this are a huge benefit to our community.
If you ever wanted to see Travis Haley's other son, Garand Thumb (who we know as our "dad") to play airsoft together, go ahead and hit that like button.
You got to play...with Alfonse...at VIP Airsoft...in Phoenix, Arizona...
You lucky bastards.
Great video Greg. BTW, alfonse's tactical shorts are lit 👌
That Umarex is kimg. I have shot around 20000 rounds with only one malfunction. No repairs or chnaged parts
Few games of CQB airsoft/paintball and you will understand why you need to run regularly and not skip leg day.
Quads, blown.
Learning to work corners and angles. I bet your boys could definitely help defend the home if they had to.
Would like to see Haley go through jungle woodland fields and his strategies on those
Idk why people trash airsoft? I'd rather compete against real moving human targets in a CQC environment than stand behind a bench and shoot 1 round per second at a static paper target that doesnt shoot back...
I wish I had a dad that would play airsoft with me. He hates guns. (His dad was killed by a gun) He doesn’t even want to hear me talk about it. Really sucks.
If I knew Travis Hayley was playing at VIP, i would have played there more. RIP I'm in TX now
Real shit, I've been looking for the Haley Strategic Plate Carrier, but I can't find it. Can anyone link it?
He needs to be a real man by stepping up as a dad and invite his other son to play
Hearing Hayden actually say "my dad" gave me acid flashbacks
I think its devil dog gamer or another marine RUclipsr but they said airsoft was one of the things that helped them with ptsd because it helped him get the mindset that not every weapon you see isn't going to kill you and not every loud bang is an IED
Airsoft kids may not have formal tactical training but they’ve got hundreds of hours of force on force. They’re going to do some shit you didn’t think of because no one ever told them that’s not how you turn a corner, enter a room, or whatever it is.
I'm surprised by that because my dad would just get pissed off and quit or call it school shooter BS if I ever tried to.
How would you like to be a father taking your kid to airsoft him thinking that you were going to be the best there then you realize that’s Travis Haley on the opposition team and your kid was going to see your lack of skills.
Lmao i honestly dont give a f**k what Travis Haley does with Airsoft. All this fan boy shit is ridiculous.
If someone is looking down on this hobby, it's probably because they can't move, shoot or f**k.
I've been playing for 8 years and I have a strong feeling that Travis' kid would still clap my cheeks
Uh... that's not something you should say
What’s the model or his gloves? I know its made by OR but I can’t find them anywhere.
Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to this stuff and am interested in doing airsoft myself, but how do you find airsoft weapons without the orange tips?
Dudes wearing a thousand dollars worth of gear to protect from plastic bbs. People like what they like i guess.
I knew Garandthumb was on the short side of the 5 feet 11 inches mark, but Jesus, he sure looks short next to Travis.
What gear is your kid wearing? Where can I find it? I loved the video and I’m thinking of buying some gear.
lmao im sure someone below probably already said it..but the moment he through picture of grandthumb in there i almost pissed myself..
How do I get that D3FT holster? Currently running mine upside down in a KYWI
